Chapter 10

Time flies so fast and my 15th birthday is approaching. Isang linggo bago iyon ay naging vocal na si Tita Glacier sa pagplaplano ng malaking party. Mom and Dad agreed to it but I don't think it's necessary.

Tita Glacier is insisting to make it grand especially that it's my first birthday here but I really don't want them to overwork for it. Pero hindi ko naman alam kung paano sila pipigilan.

Three days before my birthday and I'm already panicking. I really just want an intimate party. Kaya hindi ko na napigilan ang sariling puntahan si Tita Glacier at kausapin tungkol doon.

I already talked to my mom and she said I should tell Tita Glacier about my idea because she's the one planning. Kaya after ng dinner ng Thursday ng gabi ay kumatok ako sa kwarto niya nang nakita si Tito Duke na kausap pa si Heather sa sala.

Tita Glace opened the door and smiled when she saw me.

"Uhm Tita.. can we talk?"

"Yes ofcourse hija," she opened the door widely and let me get inside.

I immediately noticed how big their room is. There's a small living room and a tall bookshelf on the side filled with books. I also found a study and realized that maybe Tito Duke works here.

"What is it Coleen? Do you have some requests for your birthday party? Bukas darating ang mga event organizers, we can tell them what exactly you want to do." She looks so excited, na-guilty tuloy ako sa sasabihin ko.

"Please sit down hija," she pointed the couch. Umupo naman ako. Umupo na rin siya sa single sofa na nasa tabi ko.

"Uhm Tita, I actually want to ask you for a small intimate party instead.." I bit my lower lip.

Kumunot ang noo niya, "Why? You don't like parties? It's your first time here."

"I just don't like big parties Tita and I had a big one last year so I just want a lowkey party this year. Maybe we can reserve it for next year? On my sixteenth birthday?"

She sighed, "Are you sure? The exposure can make you some friends from different families hija, especially that you are a Montgomery."

I smiled, "I'm okay with a small party Tita, with just your family and mine. Let's save the grand party for next year."

She smiled, "Alright, if that's what you want. Let's call your Mom.." Tumayo siya at may kinuha sa bedroom.

Tumayo na rin ako at nagtingin-tingin sa kanilang kwarto. I saw some picture frames of their family hanging on the wall. Isa-isa kong tinignan ang mga iyon.

I smiled when I saw pictures of Kuya Ice when he was young. He must be six in the picture and I must say that even before, he already got a smiling face.

Iyon talaga ang kaibahan nila ni Kuya Ace. They're not identical but somehow, it's obvious that they're twins. They both have a smiling face too, but Kuya Ice's look more playful while Kuya Ace's smile always looks sincere.

Tinignan ko pa ang ilang pictures doon hanggang sa tumigil ako sa picture frame na may litrato ng tatlong babae.

It's old but the picture is very clear, it's Tita Glace, my mom and another girl I've never seen before in between them.

According to Mommy, they've been friends since highschool, kaya rin ganito ka-close ang pamilya namin sa isa't-isa. So now I wonder where's this girl and her family? I've never seen her in parties we attended with our families.

Nakabalik si Tita Glacier at nakita ang tinitignan ko. She paused a bit and then smiled. Lumapit siya sa akin at tinignan na rin ang picture.

"So I guess hindi pa nakwento sayo ng Mommy mo?"
