"Are you okay?"

Sinalubong ako agad ni Sherisse at Calvin pagdating sa bahay nila. Nag-abot si Calvin ng bayad sa driver bago nila ako tuluyang inakay papasok sa loob ng gate.

"I'm sorry for the trouble," I already told them I left our house when I called earlier, sinabi kong wala akong dala maliban sa cellphone ko. Wala namang problema sa kanila kung mangungutang ako, they were most curious about the reason why I left our house.

Dinalhan ako agad ng tubig at tsinelas ng kasambahay nang nakapasok kami sa sala. Sherisse even wanted to check my toes for any wounds, nakatapak akong umalis ng bahay ni Ice at hindi ko alam kung nagkasugat ba ako sa pagtakbo, kung mayroon man ay hindi ko na naramdaman.

Inubos ko ang laman ng baso bago iyon inilapag sa lamesa sa harapan. The couple is curiously watching me.

"What happened Coleen? You're freaking us out."

I sighed, "Ampon ako." Diretso kong sinabi.

I realized I should just tell them the truth. They are my friends, they have to know what happened before keeping me in their house. At wala rin naman akong ibang mapagsasabihan ng problema ko maliban sa kanila.

Gulat na gulat ang dalawa. Nagkatinginan sila at pagkatapos ay naguguluhang tumingin ulit sa akin.

"A-Are you serious?"

I nodded. Tinignan ko si Calvin, "The two persons I was asking you to investigate about, they are my real parents."

"What?" His eyebrows furrowed, "But they're dead Coleen.."

Tumango ako, "Exactly."

I saw how their expression softened, from being shocked, the pity is now more obvious. And I realized, it hurts to see people looking at you this way. Nag-iwas ako ng tingin.

I smiled sadly, "I'm already miserable, stop looking at me with so much pity." Napayuko ako sa mga kamay kong magkasaklop sa aking kandungan.

I knew they will look at my like this, but what can I do? I pity myself too. Kung malalaman kong ang isang kaibigan ko ay ampon, malulungkot din ako, at maaawa.

"I-I'm sorry Col, it's not like that.." lumapit si Sherisse sa akin at agad na hinawakan ang kamay ko. "I'm just really shocked.."

I looked at her, "I'm shocked too, until now, I can't still believe it.."

She bit her lower lip. Hindi nagtagal ay niyakap niya ako. "We're here for you. You can stay here for a while, kung wala kang mapupuntahan. And Calvin will help you too."

I nodded. I looked at Calvin who's watching me with eyes full of concern as well.

"Thank you.."

Inalok nila ako ng dinner pero tumanggi ako dahil nawalan na ako ng gana. I just really want to rest, gusto kong ipahinga ang utak ko dahil pakiramdam ko ay sasabog na ito. I've been crying since last night, I'm so tired, I just want to shut down my mind for a while.

Hinatid ako ni Sherisse sa isang guestroom para makapag-pahinga. Her parents aren't around but she said I can stay for as long as I want to, and she promised me she will help me.

"Here's some clean clothes, please take a shower and rest Coleen, you look so exhausted." Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko. She looks so worried, "Are you sure you don't want to eat? Kahit kaunti lang?"

Ngumiti ako at umiling, "I'll be fine Sherisse, thank you.."

She sighed, "Alright, if you need anything just call me. There's food in the kitchen if you're hungry."
