I almost laughed out loud at their exchange. God, how I missed her.

"We have two weeks and some days to graduation, almost three." Chloe said smiling sadly at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I have no plans after graduation. All I know is I want to be independent somehow."

"We'll see about that when that time comes."

I decided to call her phone just to see her reaction. So I hesitated over tapping the call button against her name but I eventually called.

Her phone started vibrating in her backpack, she raised one finger at her friend to retrieve it.

The colour on her face dried up as she looked at the screen. She watched it ring in utter shock her mouth hanging open.

Her friend snatched the phone from her hand and scanned the screen too with her eyes, her mouth dropped open too.

"Pick it up." She pushed the phone back into her hands. Chloe shaked her head instantly. Her face looked as if she had seen a ghost and it hurt me to see her watching her phone ring until it died down.

After it stopped ringing, she raised her head up, I swear my heart clenched from the look on her face. Her eyes were getting puffy red and tears were glistening in her eyes. I tried calling her again but this time she cancelled the call after two rings.

"Why are you hurting yourself?" Her friend asked her. "You know you want to talk and hear from him, you want to touch him, you want breath him, you want to see him and lick him. All the five senses in practical all at once."

I swear that friend of hers was something else. She was so blunt.

"The only thing I want is to see him far away from me. I don't want anything to do with him and that's final." She gritted her teeth together unfurling her fingers frustratingly in her hair to tame her thick curls.

And that statement made me hit my sterling wheel out of anger making a loud honk.

They both shrieked turning to look at my car.

My eyes connected with hers through my window, she looked at me in horror as my name left her mouth in reflex.

"Caesar..." It was soft and hesitating. As if to confirm it was really me. She started taking steps towards me but before I could do something stupid I'll regret, I revved up my car engine making her stop on her tracks. She watched me in shock as I pulled the car out of the sideline to the road.

When I looked back at her, tears were already making their way down her cheeks.
And that's the last time I promised myself I'll bother her again...

She deserved happiness after what she had gone through. And if she found it by working for Mr bad mohawk, so be it.

Chloe's POV

Rome wasn't built in one day.

That's why I wasn't sure on how my life was going to be after that day. But one thing I was sure of, I was going to make it up to the top no matter what. I was going to be my own woman, I didn't know how. But I knew I will. It definitely wasn't now, but it sure was going to be gradual.

It was finally my graduation day.

Since that day by the street, I never saw Caesar again. As for cherry, she was with me almost every other day. She could visit me in my room and we had spent two weekends at their parent's house.

I needed it as an escape. I wanted to get rid of Caesar from my head since he enjoyed occupying almost eighty percent of my thoughts each day.

I had a mission to come take his tycoon ass down. But now I wasn't sure I wanted that anymore. I wasn't strong enough for that. Guilt was eating me up whenever I was with Cherry. She was too good, and so was her brother in his own messed up way.
