That's all Jason was to his and April's relationship- a threat.

"Fine. Show me your best."
—Chapter 33—
"Why? Are you going to teach me to pick up chicks? Because, I don't know if you can tell but...I'm already quite the chick magnate." Grayson lied, slowly approaching April, kicking his legs slightly and throwing his hands in his pockets- trying to seem as casual as possible.
He heard the unmistakeable growl come from his mate across the room, which, gave Grayson the feeling that April didn't like the sound of him being the centre of many ladies' attention.
Well, at least this means she doesn't find it hard to believe. That's flattering.
"Really?" April asked, clenching her jaw, attempting to control her rising anger before she began ripping the wine-coloured comforter stretched across the end of the bed to shreds. Grayson knew it was cruel to tease, since she probably had no idea why her wolf was acting this way, but to him, it was possibly the most amusing thing.
Grayson scoffed, "Oh yeah, I mean...you should see them. At the pack house, there are tonnes of she-wolves just chasing after me. Literally- I'd be on one of my runs in the forest and all of a sudden, I'd be ambushed at either side by some ladies in their wolf forms; one by one licking my face off. It's a hard life but...God, it was so..."
"I bet they were beautiful," She cursed, rubbing her arms bashfully, glaring at her bare, scarred legs.
Maybe this is a little too cruel.
'What are you trying to do here? Upset her? Anger her? Undermine her?'
No. Quite the opposite actually.
'Well, genius. How's that turning out for you?'
"They were- well, some of them were a little superficial but..." Grayson knelt down beside April, eyeing her carefully as if she was fragile glass. "At the time, I thought they were the most beautiful creatures. But then...I met someone," He drifted towards the end, not knowing what do or what to say. He hoped to dear God that he hadn't crushed her self-esteem in anyway. That was the last thing he wanted to do to his mate. Grayson wanted April to feel as beautiful as possible because- to him- she was...truly. He wanted to flatter her, mark her as his, praise her, and above all; he wanted to please her. Now knowing she'd been treated like crap by Dale and the others, Grayson felt only obliged to make up for their mistakes. He'd do anything- go to whatever extent.
Call it his instinct. Wolves had their tendencies to protect those in their pack, or their mate. Of course, that was the same for werewolves, plus that to the common human emotions they feel for those they care about. Not only that, but Grayson had a nagging thought etching its way- making itself more and more noticeable with each passing day- into his head. An emotion. One of which wasn't exactly uncommon for a person with a...childhood like his to experience. Revenge. He felt the need to torture every living soul that had ever hurt her. Though he may need to grab a pen and paper, make a list and scribble down each name in corresponding order; he would do it.
