Jason's POV.
"Jason, stop pacing. You're making me nervous." Brianna snapped. She had a point. My constant fretting was getting on her and Elijah's nerves.
"What if we were too late? We couldn't find her in the forest, so what if she's been attacked? Why couldn't Elijah track her scent?" My questions were spreading like wildfire. My sister, Elijah and I were waiting at the school gates the next morning, hoping for April to turn up to school unscathed after her disappearance last night.
"Maybe she just headed home and her scent was too far for Elijah to track. You can't blame him for this."
"Believe me- I do not blame your mate, Brianna. I blame myself. If I hadn't gotten drunk then April wouldn't have gone home by herself." I ran a hand through my light brown hair in frustration. "Where the hell is she?" I demanded.
"Dude, just calm down." Elijah growled, his animal side coming out in his concern.
"Don't tell me to calm down Elijah! This is easy for you. How am I supposed to cope when the only girl I've ever felt any attraction to is running around with claws and fangs- not to mention she can turn into a mutt!"
Elijah let out a feral bark, directing it towards my use of the word "mutt". He's always been conscious of what he is, and doesn't necessarily respect himself because of that.
"Jason! Don't say that!" Brianna shouted. Once again, the mate pull between the two of them influencing her actions.
Brianna seemed effected the least when we were told 2 years ago that our best friend was a monster. Well- he didn't exactly tell us. He more or less gave it away when he got incredibly angry; his eyes started glowing a gold-ish amber colour and he growled ferociously. Surprisingly, this was all directed to Grayson- our old friend who turned into a murderer and is now a fugitive.
"You're going to keep quiet!" Grayson snarled from upstairs. Brianna and I shared a look of puzzlement as were poured two glasses of coke, one of sprite and one of water. We had volunteered to fetch some drinks for the guys, seeing as they obviously had an unsettled argument that needed addressing.
There was a loud thump from upstairs and Brianna jumped where she stood.
"Do you think he's OK?" She asked, panicked, eyeing the ceiling with worry.
"Who? Grayson?"
"No, dumbass. I'm sure Grayson's having a blast. I'm talking about Elijah. He's not exactly the most... co'operative person, and if they're haviing an argument- it's gonna end with one of them seriosuly hurt." I had the nerve to laugh at her concern. She glared at me. "What?"
"You like him don't you?"
"Grayson? I mean he's good-looking and- but no, I don't like Grayson. Not in the way you're implying anyway."
"I wasn't talking about Grayson." Her cheeks heated up like flares.
Another crash thundered from upstairs and Brianna looked up with the same expression again.
"I'm talking about Elijah. You do like him, don't you?" I inquired.
"Look," She wore a hopeless expression on her face. "I don't understand it, OK? I know what it's like to have a crush. Remember when I had a crush on Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day?"
