--Chapter 42--
April frantically weaved between the wailing students; all of whom begging and praying to be spared by some superior entity above them. Sure, it wasn't her intentions to let anyone else die tonight- not if she could help it, but still, she wished they'd all just shut up. Undoubtedly, the police would be on their way any time soon, and that limited the time April had drastically. The police shouldn't be involved with this- with werewolves. It'd only endanger more lives than necessary.
She'd previously tried persuading herself that the world of monsters and evil creatures weren't involved with the occurrences that happened only a few minutes prior, but her attempts were fruitless. April would be an idiot to not recognise the slash marks in the boy's body- they were the similar type that had once littered her Uncle's body, after all. They were messy; thicker than a blade's handiwork, and the stench left behind could only belong to a werewolf's distinct scent.
A werewolf that April was currently trying to pursue- if only people would stop latching onto her, sobbing and screaming profanities of how they were all 'doomed'.
Her eyes ached from the amount of times she'd rolled them. On several occasions, she gave rushed directions and gestures towards the three large, double-doors for evacuation purposes, hanging wide open. They weren't caged in- they weren't cornered animals, so leaving the crime scene would be a smartest move for them to make.
'Tch. You're such a hypocrite.'
Her wolf's reply had startled her somewhat. There hadn't been many exchanges since the transitioning- if there had been any at all, that is. Only now, after a dead body had been discovered, had April truly witnessed her wolf's presence again.
She couldn't say she hadn't missed it. Even if it did annoy her and scare the crap out of her all at once.
'Aw, I missed you too!' The sarcasm that dripped off of its tone wasn't hidden, evidently. 'I guess the transition did bring the two of us together. My, my, I'm so emotional right now- if I could generate tears, then I'd be crying a river for you.'
Forget what April said; she didn't miss it. It was still the annoying little-
'Hey now, no insulting the one who can potentially break apart every living thing in this room right now. You seem to easily forget who wears the pants in our relationship, honey.'
April's head already hurt. She'd forgotten how much her wolf's irritating input irked her and gave her migraines.
"Seeing as I'm the only one who can physically wear the pants; I'd say I've got a pretty sturdy grip on that title." She muttered beneath her breath, peeking behind her shoulder briefly before shoving open the doors before her. April was a pretty bad liar, she didn't need to be brought into interrogation for shady behaviour after a mutilated body had been found.
'Please, if this was Scooby-Doo, I'd be Velma and you'd so be Daphne. Pointless and a simple damsel always getting kidnapped by the bad guys without her boyfriend protecting her. Hmm, I wonder who Fred would be. Ah yes, Grayson!'
"Completely irrelevant. And, seriously, Velma isn't even that great. For one, I think she's quite annoying the majority of the time- so, I guess that does make the two of you similar!" Geez, great comeback, Stuart. Didn't even deny being a damsel.
'Of course you didn't deny it. Why would you deny the truth? It's almost as pointless as you. I mean, how long does it take for someone as air-headed as yourself to realise she's walking straight into trouble?'
