 April’s POV.

April’s stomach clenched and unclenched in anxiety and anticipation. Her mind was telling her that after all she’d done to try escape; preventing any harm to come to those she loved, she was doing yet another thing she’d told herself not to. April told herself to blame Grayson, as it was he who contacted Elijah and set this whole rendezvous up.

She didn’t know what to think about Elijah. He’d been the one that threatened her to leave in the first instance, so how on earth Grayson had convinced him to allow them to come up blew April’s mind in wonder.

“You’re shaking.” Grayson stated the ever so blatantly obvious as he pulled up to the sibling’s driveway. His eyes pierced through hers with such intensity she thought she might combust. The blues churned and mixed together with curiosity, evoking the butterflies in her stomach to flutter.

Don’t even go there, her human side of her screamed.

“Yeah, well I’m nervous.” She muttered, wringing her wrists together and staring out of the truck’s window to stare at the house, the idea of entering slowly becoming more and more daunting as it approached.

“Don’t be. Your friends are in there, Cherub.” He reminded her, leaning over her as he reached for something in the glove compartment. His musky scent engulfed her entirely, sending her spiralling into a land of fascination where the thoughts she had were only ones her wolf could approve of. April couldn’t see what Grayson was fingering around for in the endless amount of papers and crap that rustled from the alcove in front of her.

A sudden thought occurred to April as her fantasies were replaced with a ghastly one of its own. Images flashed before her own eyes as she pictured Grayson pulling out a large, metal-ridden belt, to which he then gave her a malicious grin and struck her. The horrific thought made April’s skin shiver repulsively as she remembered the reality of her Uncle and what he did. She gasped and escaped from the vehicle, fresh sheen sweat covering her skin.

 He’d scarred her.

Grayson’s bewildered expression immediately lifted from his scrounging, soon replaced with one of perplexity. He scrambled out from the truck, expertly landing on his two feet rather than tripping over the threshold. Elegancy was all part of April’s personality- obviously.

“What-“He began, eyes roaming over her checking for signs of injury until his head perked up. Literally- like a dog, first his ears which were directed to the screaming girl, next his eyes which easily found the running figure of Brianna incoming, then of course was the quaint quirk of his eyebrow and mouth. April followed his line of sight, which was consequently resulted with her being blinded and thrown to the sidewalk by the body draped in a very familiar Green Day tee. The impact of the concrete hitting her back didn’t even bother April as she voluntarily wrapped her arms around her friend like they’d been apart for years.

From the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Jason and Elijah joining beside Grayson, all of who were smirking with so much silent laughter. April scowled at each of the boys, gently trying to pry Brianna off of her- the scratches still not fully healed on her stomach.

Grayson- being her knight in shining armour- saw her discomfort, and approached the two of them with remains of a humoured smile still ghosting his lips and hauled Brianna from April with extraordinary inhuman strength. Next Jason came forward, who offered out his hand for her whilst Grayson dumped Brianna down beside Elijah, who shook his head adoringly at her behaviour. April accepted Jason’s hand as the smile she’d come to find adorable broke out across his face.
