Previously in UIFY:
“Maybe I should tell him.” April whispered, questioning her own reflection in the water.

Without her wolf, who was currently rather despondent, April was practically back to being the defenceless, weak, puny human with voices in her head.

“I want you to explain to me,” Grayson spoke lowly, almost in a whisper. “I want you to explain to me how you got these scars on your legs,”
--Chapter 30--
At some point, not only did April’s breath catch in her throat at the movements he made along her skin, but she also noticed how Grayson’s voice had dropped to a sinister, dark and deadly tone of seriousness.
He didn’t pause once as silence lapped over them whilst April evaluated the options to which she had. And it was kind of distracting.
She could tell him. She couldn’t even imagine the weight of the burden being released from her shoulders if she did- not all of it, but perhaps the majority. For maybe that reason alone, she wanted to tell him.
April just didn’t want to risk anything.
With her Uncle now back in the picture, and if her wolf was right- and not just lying like the asshole it usually is- then that meant he was like her; more violent, more bloodthirsty, and a whole lot more psychotic than before. If that was possible. And if she thought he was lacking in humanity beforehand, then she was in for a surprise.
Not only that, but he was after her.
And April couldn’t imagine it being for a good thing- like to persuade her to return to her normal life, promising her of how he’d be a better person and guardian. That may have been an illogical plea, but even with all of the things he’d done to her; the torture and stress, the pain and suffering- it was probably one of the only things she wanted. April didn’t want the life she’d craved as a child anymore- the one of adventure and unpredictable shenanigans. She didn’t want the drama. She wanted the people in her life she’d known before the chaos was unleashed.
But she couldn’t have them; she’d be a fool to think she did.
“I’ll tell you,” April promised, securing her small hand around Grayson’s wrist, causing an abrupt pause in his calming ministrations on her skin. He looked up, bright eyes narrowing in questioning, telling her to proceed. “But you have to promise me something in return-“
“Fine, fine, fine, I’ll give you a back massage. No need to ask.” Grayson responded, clearly misunderstanding April’s intentional meaning.
“No, Grayson, I- I didn’t mean-“ She was interrupted as his hands softly grabbed her hips, practically flipping her over onto her stomach. To say April was taken aback would an understatement. “You’re not quite grabbing my whole request thing- rather my hips instead!”
April tried pushing herself up, preparing to flick Grayson’s nose or however people tended to punish their pet dogs when she was forced back down.
“A-A-Ah, nope, you’ve been tense for a while now. Probably for about as long as I’ve known you- if not longer. And if I’m right in thinking, then you’re certainly gonna need relaxation as your retell your story to me. Let me do this, April. Just this once.” He spoke, and although April couldn’t actually see him, she could tell by just listening as his voice softened and lowered to a whisper that he was not only being sincere, but also stubborn. He wouldn’t take no for an answer.
