He said that you were the one who told him about...me- being a monster. If that’s true, then why didn’t you let me die that night?”

“Your Alpha wants me dead. And you’re the one to do it.”

She hadn’t meant to, but as the word ‘abuse’ was mentioned, April couldn’t help but scoff loudly, “Believe me, that was nothing compared to the abuse I’ve come to know.”

The warm, familiar hand was placed on her chin and her head was lifted up to meet sincere, big blue eyes.

 “I’d never hurt you, April.”

--Chapter 22--

If April weren’t such a prideful individual, then there was a chance that Grayson would’ve had to carry her all the way back to the Smith’s. But there was no chance, especially after recent speculations that had already occurred only earlier that evening. Her feet ached as if they’d been walking for hours, but when in reality- they couldn’t have been walking for more than 20 minutes. Even as a werewolf, April’s fitness was abysmal.

She struggled to keep her eyes open as she and Grayson trudged through the thick boggy marsh of the forest. And yes, on their travels; it had rained once again. But this time, April didn’t mind so much. It seemed as if her midnight walk in the storm with Grayson may have changed her opinion on the weather- in fact, she would go as far as saying she loved it.

Neither she nor Grayson made any effort to start conversation with one another as they walked in uncomfortable silence. Not that April was angry now, but sure, when she was told he’d been lying to her the whole time and was just waiting for the right time to launch a bloody assassination; she was a little pissed.

Alike a volcano, her emotions were just simmering below the surface, awaiting the inevitable trigger to erupt. And in that moment, April was surprisingly dormant.

With the abandoned sound, other than the drumming of raindrops on the forest floor, completely submerging the two of them, April’s trap opened in the spur of the moment. She just couldn’t bare the intensity.

“Let’s play a game.” She blurted. Her shivering hand dragged through her long mane of soaking hair, ridding it from being glued to her forehead by the rain, all the while casting Grayson a sidelong glance from the corner of her eye.

April was quite surprised to say the least when she caught him eye-gaping with mock disbelief and bewilderment.

“You want to play a game?” He gasped, “I’m sorry, I didn’t realise my life had turned into to the adaptation of SAW,” He grumbled sarcastically, shaking head and turning back to his original post- looking straight ahead of him. April didn’t fail to notice the miniscule traces of a grimace on Grayson’s face after he’d said it. She sighed in resignation, burying her chin into the layers of fabric of her jacket and snuggled into as much warmth as she could gather.

Moments passed until Grayson piped up again, causing April to hesitantly shift her gaze in his direction.

“I’m sorry,” He muttered warily as he began to rub his eyes. Grayson also blinked a couple of times and pinched his own skin to awaken himself from his slumberous walk. “What do you wanna play?”
