Hey look! A new perspective! But I change perspectives part way through. I'll make it obvious where it is. Anyway, I, like many others, love music, and even if singing and dancing through the street is unrealistic, technically they could just be shouting the lyrics of The World Will Know. Also I haven't watched the movie in a few months so I forget all of what went down here but that's okay because like said I've tried rewriting movies before and IT DON'T WORK FOR ME so yeah it will be what it will be. When it gets to King of New York, that's where the good stuff is, if you're theoretically tired of this stuff already. Okay but here's the question: a lot of times they refer to The New York World as just The World. So when it comes to The World Will Know... are they talking about the whole world, or just the New York World? Just something to think about. Anyway. Enjoy! :)
"First we have to eat what we don't sell," Kid Blink shouts, Mush not far behind him. "Now they jacked up the price!"
There were upset newsies everywhere.
Jack just sits there, not knowing what to do. He really doesn't know what to do. Or how to react. He's just...shocked.
"What should we do, Jack?" Crutchie asks.
"Yeah, what should we do?" some of the younger newsies chorus.
"Stop a moment, I'm thinking," Jack tells them. I want to actually try to sort out my thoughts.
David hovering over his shoulder is not helping at all.
He gets what, 2, 3, 5 seconds total of peace.
"Ya done thinkin'?" Race asks impatiently.
Jack stands up. "This ain't workin'."
Everyone started talking at once again.
"Alright, stop!" Jack shouts. Everyone's quiet again. He thinks about this. "They think they can do whatever they want. But we need to stick together. We need to show them that we won't do whatever they want."
"What, you mean like a strike?" David half-heartedly suggests.
Jack brightens up. "Yeah, exactly like a strike!"
There was a lot of hustle and excitement.
David's eyes widen. "What? No!"
Too late. The seed had already been planted.
As they go out into the town square, David continues trying to talk Jack out of it. "Jack, this isn't how we do it. They won't listen to us."
"I know what I'm doing, Davey," Jack responds and doesn't stop.
"Really?"
"No."
Then when they stop, Jack has an idea. I think Davey'll like this one. "Hey Davey. Why don't you tell us what to do?"
David's eyes widen in surprise. A betraying grin begins tugging at his lips. "Really?"
"Yeah, just...tell us what to do."
That's when there's silent.
Jack can tell David's thinking. He won't admit how much he likes that face.
"Tell them..." David begins thoughtfully, "tell them that they can't treat us like we're nothing."
(A/N Listening to Carrying the Banner and The World Will Know right now and REALLY wanting to rewatch the movie haha)
