This is going to be the last chapter that's a Javid filler. It's just that I need to space out some stuff and this is how I figured I should do it. Oh yeah, no plot. Well, not at the moment. Actually hold up. I have an idea. Let's run with it. Enjoy! :)

"Did Spot tell you where he's been lately yesterday?" Jack asks Race as they make their way to the circulation center with the rest of the newsies behind them.

Race just shrugs. "Nah. Nice talkin' to him, at least."

Race had been subdued the past few days. This hadn't gone unnoticed by Jack. Then all of a sudden, yesterday, Race came back to the lodge, happier than before. Jack knows that Race and Spot had grown closer.

"How's Davey?"

"He's good."

"Yeah, but what about you and him?"

Jack smiles. "We's good."

"I'm happy for ya, Jack."

"Thanks." A small pause in conversation. "Davey and Les should be at the circulation center soon, if they ain't already."

"And when will Davey ever be late for anythin'."

Jack chuckles. "Exactly."

Sure enough, Jack comes in in time to find David saying, "hundred papes" and putting the coin down.

"How's the headline?" Jack calls to him good-naturedly.

David turns his head and smiles when he sees Jack. Jack's heart still flutters. David's eyes flash playfully. "Headlines don't sell papes." He opens his mouth to say more, but before he can, Les chimes in, "NEWSIES sell papes!"

"Sure they do, kid!" Race tussles Les's hair before getting in line to buy his newspapers.

Jack is still getting used to not seeing Weasel in the morning. Since the strike, well. No more getting papes from Weasel--and that is his name, disregarding Crutchie being better than being petty and calling him by his respectful name. Still, teasing Weasel in the morning was a daily routine that Jack never knew he might miss. Well, maybe not entirely miss...but it's still a weird feeling.

Jack gets his papers quickly. He moves past Kid Blink and Mush, who really aren't as discreet as they may think themselves to be.

Come on, Blink. If you wanna be subtle, ya don't just put your arm around Mush's waist.

"So where we headin' today?" Jack asks David, slinging his papes over his shoulder. Someone needs to tell David that he looks real cute in a newsie cap.

"Try Bottle Alley or da Harbor if ya ain't got a sellin' spot!" Mush teases them from behind.

"Yeah, yeah," Jack shoves Mush lightheartedly. "We'se been there before." Then he turns to David. "I'm gonna go wherever you go."

"Come on!" Les shouts at them, running ahead. "Stop discussin' where we're goin' and get a movin'!"

"Looks like Les has chosen," David comments as he and Jack jog to keep up with Les, both laughing.

Jack knows David is used to all the headlines he makes up by now, so he doesn't hesitate to shout the most exaggerated headlines as possible.

"NOTRE DAME UP IN FLAMES!"

"MURDER IN HARLEM!"

"ARM OF STATUE OF LIBERTY BREAKS! SHE AIN'T GOT NO TORCH NO MORE!"
