Meredith sat at her kitchen table eating the pizza she bought for herself. Pizza seemed to be the one thing that didn't absolutely revolt her. For lunch she tried to eat a chicken sandwich but then ended up kneeling over a toilet in the bathroom at the mere smell of it. So she was going to eat this whole damn pizza and if anyone tries to stop her, the next time she gets morning sickness, it will be on them. Literally, physically on them, or their shoes.

"So I had a conversation with Shepherd today." Izzie said as she walked into the kitchen and pulled out various ingredients from the cabinets. Meredith looked up at her with a curious look. Izzie absolutely hated Derek. She was the only person that George told what Derek had said to him, and it apparently was bad. And ever since then, Izzie hadn't used his name. It was always, bastard or monster or mcAsshole. Never Shepherd.

"He um. I think he is going to be a good father." Izzie said quietly as she measured out brown sugar and dumped it in a bowl.

"You think?" Meredith asked with a small smile on her face.

"Yea. I mean. He is still a bit of a bastard in my eyes for what he said to. Well. All of us. Except you. But he really loves your bar baby. And that's saying something because I personally didn't think he was capable of love."

"He is. He just. Was having a hard time. He isn't soulless." Meredith said slowly.

"No not soulless. Just a man with a soul and asshole tendencies." Izzie said as she started the mixer slowly.

"He hasn't been an asshole since we had sex." Meredith said quietly.

"No. I guess he hasn't. I guess we all owe you a thanks for fixing the monster." Izzie laughed as she added flour to the bowl.

"Cristina says my vagina fixed him." Meredith laughed.

"Well, now, your vagina and your uterus." She giggled as she added chocolate chips to the mixture.

Meredith sighed. "I am a little nervous that at some point he will go back to his asshole tendencies."

"I don't think he will. From the loud speech he gave to me, he seems to be pretty stuck on making sure baby has a good life. I was told that if I said anything bad about the child or pregnancy I would be kicked off his service." Izzie said as she took the mixture and put them into little balls on a pan.

"Yea. That's the sense I got too. You know when we were at the OB we got pictures of the little fetus. Which at this point really is just a speck. But he took the picture and held it up to his face and said 'I think it looks like me.' It was adorable."

Izzie laughed as she placed the pan into the oven, "Oh god I hope it looks like him. He may be an asshole sometimes but god is he gorgeous."

"Oh me too. All said and done, at least baby is going to be pretty and smart. Plus Derek has money and I probably will have money eventually. Though I don't know how I am going to do it with the hours."

"His hours are better at least, and there is a hospital day care. And I will help you as much as you need." She sat down across from her at the table.

"Thanks Iz. I just. Really need to talk to Derek more about this."

"You do. Can I ask you a question?"

"Shoot."

"So um. At the bar. The sex. How was it?" Izzie asked with a smirk.

"Oh my god." Meredith breathed. "Best I have ever had. Stupidest sex, I mean, who does it with their boss who has been known for being an asshole. But so good. He did this thing with his- and his thing was just- It almost makes sense that that sex would be the one to impregnate me."

"Are you going to go for it again?" Izzie asked as the oven timer went off.

"I don't know. Maybe. I mean, do guys like doing it with pregnant chicks?" Meredith asked.

"Couldn't tell you." Izzie laughed as she pulled the pan out of the oven. "Worth a shot though."

Meredith looked up to the pan that Izzie was holding. Chocolate chip cookies. Apparently there were two things that Meredith didn't find vile, pizza and chocolate chip cookies.

"Are those?" Meredith asked as she stood up to stare at the cookies.

"Yes" Izzie laughed. "When I was pregnant I couldn't get enough of them, so I figured you might want them."

Meredith grabbed a hot cookie then stared up at Izzie. "You were pregnant?"

"Yup. I don't- I don't tell people that. But I figured with the whole, stressful unplanned pregnancy thing, you could use some moral support." Izzie said nervously.

"What- what happened to the kid." Meredith said as she burnt her tongue on the steaming cookies.

"I put her up for adoption. I was 15 and living in a trailer park so I figured that there was a better place for my daughter."

"Oh." Meredith sighed. She couldn't imagine having to give up her child. She wanted her baby to have the absolute best life it could, but it would be so hard to give it up. "I'm sorry. That must have been terrible."

"It was. But it was for the best. And the parents send me pictures every once in a while. You want to see her?"

Meredith smiled, "Sure."

"Her name is Sarah." Izzie said as she pulled out a picture of a cute 8 year old girl. Meredith felt her eyes start to water. Fuck she hated stupid pregnancy hormones that make her into a weepy pregnant girl.

"She's beautiful."
