Derek never came back to the house that night. Meredith had figured that eventually he would come back to sleep or maybe even apologize for being such and ass, but no. He never showed, he didn't even pick up clean clothes.

Meredith got to work the next morning and she still didn't see Derek anywhere. As far as she could tell, his car wasn't in the staff parking lot. She tried her best to not look for him, because he was in the wrong and he needs to be the one to find her and apologize, but she couldn't help but glance around for him.

"Have you seen Derek today?" Izzie asked as she found Meredith in the hallway, "I am supposed to be on his service but I can't find him."

Meredith scoffed.

"Well, I don't speak scoff so can you please answer." Izzie said.

"I have no idea where Dr. Monster is." Meredith responded.

"Wait, why are you calling him Dr. Monster?"

"Because he's an ass." She said.

"What did he do?" Izzie asked.

"I told him I was going on a date and he blew up." Meredith exclaimed.

"really?" Izzie said with a light laugh.

"Yes, he went on and on about how me going on a date was irresponsible. I don't know what's wrong with him." Meredith replied.

"Well I do." Izzie said.

"Do you care to share with the class, cause I need an explanation pretty soon before I strangle his ass. I mean, I would strangle his ass if he didn't disappear." She sneered.

"Derek has a thing for you, he has for months." Izzie stated.

"No he doesn't." Meredith rolled her eyes. "And even if he does, that doesn't give him the right to call me a stupid child."

"He said that?" Izzie asked.

"Yes, and then he left."

"What do you mean 'he left'?" Izzie asked.

"We were arguing, and he said he couldn't sit here and watch me be stupid. So I said he should leave, and he did." Meredith answered.

"But did he leave, leave?" Izzie asked.

"What do you mean?" Meredith asked.

"Like, did he leave you like how he left Dr. Montgomery-Shepherd?" Izzie asked.

"I- oh god. Maybe." Meredith whispered. "He's probably taking his stuff out of the house as we speak. My baby is going to be fatherless. He is going to leave and my baby will grow up without a father. My baby will have the same childhood that I have. Oh god." Meredith started hyperventilating.

"Oh Meredith. You don't know if he left. And Derek loves the baby, and you. It didn't even cross your mind before I stupidly suggested it."

"No, he left. He is gone." Meredith said.

"You don't know that Meredith." Izzie tried to comfort.

"I- I gotta go." Meredith said as she ran into a supply closet, grabbed a bag, and breathed heavily into it, trying to catch her breath.
