Meredith stood at the nurses station looking over some charts, when a tall man came behind her and looked over her shoulder.

"Can I help you?" Meredith asked, still not looking at him.

"Are you pregnant?" The man asked causing Meredith to swiftly turn to face him.

"Excuse me?" She asked astonished.

"I'm looking for a pregnant intern." He stated.

"Gotta say, that's a strange request." Meredith sneered.

"Are you not pregnant?" He responded.

"I- I am."

"And are you the only pregnant intern that works here?" He continued.

"As far as I know." She looked at him confused. "Now can you please explain why you are in need of a pregnant intern."

"I'm looking for Derek Shepherd's girl." He answered. "That's you right? I heard he was dating a pregnant intern."

"Let me get this straight." She said sternly. "You, instead of asking me if I was dating Derek, you asked if I was a pregnant intern?"

"Seemed less awkward." He said.

"Than asking me if I was a pregnant intern?" She asked.

"But you are Derek's girl?" He asked.

"I am dating Derek, yes. And who are you?" She asked.

"And you like him, you are all in?" He asked ignoring his question.

"Yes, I like him. Who are you?"

"You aren't going to cheat on him?" He asked.

"I will not cheat on him." She said dryly. "Now who the hell are you?"

"You better not." He informed her as he held out his hand, "Mark Sloan."

Meredith began to reach out her hand until she heard the name. The name of the man who had all but destroyed Derek.

"You're Mark?" She asked.

"Yep."

"And you were lecturing me on cheating?" She spat.

"Do as I teach, not as I do." He responded.

"What are you doing here?" She rolled her eyes.

"I came to check on my brother."

"Oh so now you care about him?" She sneered.

"Hey. I am ashamed of what I did, but you don't know the whole story." He defended.

"You slept with his wife, what else is there to know?" She spat.

"I loved Addison." He responded quietly.

"Oh." She responded. "Is that why you are here?"

"yea." He responded solemnly. "My best friend and the woman I love are here. How could I stay away?"

"I- just be careful with him. He was a mess when he first got here."

Mark smirked, "I will darlin'"

"And don't call me darling again. It won't end well for you." She warned.

"Derek really has the best taste in women." He laughed.

"If you make a move on me, I will castrate you." She responded dryly.

Mark backed away a little bit. "Noted."

Derek sat in his quiet office when his door flung open and a voice loudly exclaimed, "Derek!"

"Go back to New York." He said continuing his paperwork.

"Oh come on. I came all this way to see you!"

"And it wasn't necessary." He responded.

"Yea like you were about to call or visit me."

"You wouldn't have wanted me to call or visit you. You have Addison for that." He spat.

"Derek when are we going to get past this?"

"Get past this?" He responded in disbelief.

"You are going to have to forgive me eventually."

"You chose Addison in the divorce. Stick by your decision." He responded dryly.

"Derek."

"Amy. Leave." He glared at her.

"Nope. Not until you get over this." She said as she sat on a chair in his office.

"You- You don't get it." Derek shook his head. "You chose her. You chose her over me. I raised you since you were a little kid. And you chose Addie over me."

"Addie is like my sister." Amelia defended.

"And I am your brother!" Derek yelled.

"I was in a bad position. I made a decision Derek. If I chose you I would have lost Addie, either way, it was a bad position."

"I am sorry you were in a bad position, Amy, but you still decided that you would rather lose Addie than me."

"I didn't think I would lose you." She yelled.

"Oh, you thought I would be happy that you chose Addison over me?"

"No, I thought that you would be able to get over it."

"Well, you thought wrong."

"So a life time of being family just no longer matters?" She asked.

"Family doesn't betray each other."

"God Derek, you're so dramatic."

"My wife cheated on me and you helped her hide it!" He yelled.

"And you seem all broken up about it. Addison told me about the intern!"

"What?"

"The intern, who you impregnated. Who is about my age. Classy Derek."

"Don't you dare talk about Meredith."

"Why? You still don't want mom to find out about your midlife crisis?"

"Meredith is not a midlife crisis! I love her! She is my family."

"You got divorced, moved across the country, shacked up with a woman ten years younger, and are having baby. Sounds like a midlife crisis to me."

"I don't give a damn what it sounds like to you. Go back to New York."

"Fine." She hissed as she got up and slammed the door behind her as she left.
