CHAPTER 03

THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW

Inside of an inn, Devien was sitting on the bed while eating a food provided from the inn. The room was silent, he could hear people talking from the outside, the birds chirping in the trees near his window. Breezy wind and peaceful ambience. While he's eating, a trained raven landed on the opened windowsill, making him glance at it. He immediately noticed the small paper tied to the raven's feet, he put the plate down on his bed and went to pick the paper.
 
It could be another commission.
 
As he opened the paper and read what was written, he cocked an eyebrow.
 
'Devien, go to my Vexity estate. I have something to discuss with you.'

What mission is he going to assign for me now?

Back when he was a child, he was being chased with men who wanted to take him and make him a slave, but he happened to bump into Callahan. Callahan wholeheartedly accepted him and took him into his estate, that was when he learned that Callahan has an organization in which he trains people to become assassins. They kill nobles whose cases cannot be easily handled by the government. The government wasn't aware of them, though. Devien met Hugo and Yvonne who were the same age as him. Thinking how to pay him back for saving him, Devien volunteered to be an assassin too.

And as they grew up, the trio became full-fledged hitmen.
 
He wore his usual outfit under a black cloak. He went to Callahan's mansion and bowed before him. "You called for me?" he asked in a nonchalant tone.
 
The man played the wine from his glass and gave him a picture of a beautiful green-haired lady, in which he accepted it in return. He got confused as he stared at it.

The lady was wearing a cold and intimidating expression, as if she's looking down upon everyone. She also gave this aloof and rebellious aura. "That lady's name is Rouge Veridian Declan, the one and only daughter of the Duke Declan from Amoret Kingdom. She's infamous for causing ruckus around, she was also suspended two times in the Centre Academy. Along with other ladies, they also bullied a commoner girl multiple times. And their bullying attempts weren't the usual, childish ones. With that lady as a leader, they undertake the harmful, almost deadly, bullying."
 
So, she was the lady who was being gossiped about earlier by those ladies.
 
Pinagmasdan niya ito at blangkong tumingala kay Callahan. Callahan bent down a little and pointed Devien with his index finger. "Rouge Veridian Declan is a cunning and callous young lady. And you will go there as her personal knight. You can take time killing her, she's not going to be that easy to kill." Devien raised an eyebrow at him. For someone who is very skilled at killing, why would Mr. Callahan would tell that she can't be easily killed?
 
"May I know why?" he inquired. Callahan let out a crooked smile because of that, "Do you remember the three assassins who recently resigned?"

Devien nodded.

"I assigned them the same task that I've given to you right now." Natigilan dahil doon si Devien pero patuloy siyang nakinig sa lalaki. "The last messages they gave to me before dying, were almost similar. They informed me about how Lady Rouge figured their personal backgrounds and uses it to take advantage of them as well as to abuse them. She'd tricked these three into obeying her commands and let themselves become toys, toys that can be used for venting out her disturbing violent hidden nature. One thing for sure for these three, that they fear Lady Rouge."
 
He widened his eyes in shock and parted his mouth slightly, even though his face was half-covered in mask, Callahan could tell that Devien was shocked by his statements.
