CHAPTER 25
THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW
BOTH BLANCHE AND Clover are excused to take absences to classes for weeks, in order to recover.
"We should do another cold therapy later like what the nurse said," paalala ni Devien habang marahan siyang sinusubuan. Tumango lang sa kaniya si Clover.
Tinititigan lamang ni Devien si Clover, lalo na ang kaniyang leeg na may pasa pa rin. He glowered, recalling what Maxfield had done to her. He also remembered how he mercilessly beat him up. Maxfield was also in the process of recovery but in a different clinic.
His lips tightened as his face turned dark.
Don't worry.
I'll make him recover even slower than you have later.
He slowly started to entertain his dark thoughts, imagining what he should do but---
"Devien?" He turned back to reality when he heard her voice calling his name. He blinked and looked up at her.
"Is something wrong?"
Umiling lamang siya, "Nothing."
He gulped, "Clover..." as he looked up at her, he saw how her eyes glimmered when he called her with that name. She looked at him back with confusion.
"I'm sorry. If only I arrived earlier before it happened... then he wouldn't do this to you."
Clover sighed, "Devien, you don't have anything to feel sorry for. I also feel guilty about it. I shouldn't have left Blanche alone." He noticed her clenched her fists, so he held it.
"It's not your fault at all, whose responsible for it was the person who hurt Miss Blanche." Malalim niyang tinititigan ang dalaga, he didn't notice when it started but he just recently realized he's been gazing at her so often than he could count.
He just really likes those eyes of her... na sobrang iba sa pisikal niyang pagkatao.
"If that person hadn't hurt her, that man wouldn't accuse you of hurting her. And he wouldn't hurt you either. You wouldn't be in this kind of situation." Marahan niyang dinala ang hinahawakan niyang kamay ng dalaga sa pisngi niya. He was staring at her intensely as he brought the palm of her hand to his lips.
Clover slightly hitched her breathe.
"For all the days and nights you weren't opening your eyes... do you even have any idea how much you almost drive me mad, worrying about you?"
Her heart started to pound fast, she could almost hear it. Sobrang tagos kung makakatitig si Devien sa kaniya, gusto niyang umiwas pero hindi niya magawa. Bakit ba ganito na lang lagi ang epekto kapag si Devien?
And just by having him to her side whenever the danger comes, she'd magically feel safe. Dahil ba ay isang assassin ito?
Hearing it say he was worried for her, she feels kind of happy about it.
"You were?"
"Yes," he didn't hesitate.
Clover smiled and chuckled upon hearing his answer, but she flinched when realized it.
