THIRD PERSON'S POV

"SOON, YOU'LL HAVE TO find a noble lady for your marriage," said the old nobleman in the middle of dinner, not sparing anyone a glance other than his second son.

"Herald..." he called his name. The dazed young man flinched and looked up to his father's cold gaze.

"Y-Yes?" his voice nearly softened.

His father scowled, "You're not even listening."

Scared of the man's cold gaze, he averted his eyes and looked down emptily on his plate instead. "I'm sorry, Father. I was just thinking of something."

The man let it slide and heavily sighed, the atmosphere around the family eased up a bit. "It is the least thing you can do for us, to pass our name to your children."

Herald's brows twitched. "But... Father, I---"

He wasn't able to continue his sentence, he almost jumped when his father slammed the table hard and glared at him, "Do not object my decisions for you! You can't even master a sword nor any weapon, you don't have any outstanding skills or talents--- what purpose do you even have?!"

Umalingawngaw ang boses ng matandang lalaki sa buong dining hall, na sinundan naman ng katahimikan ng bawat isa. Mas lalong yumuko si Herald, wala siyang lakas para magsalita sa ama lalo na't kakaiwan pa lamang sa kaniya ng lalaking gusto niya.

Mas lalo lamang nadudurog ito dahil sa mga salitang binibitawan ng ama nila.

"Herald." Bumalik siya sa wisyo nang tawagin siya ni Blanche, pagkatingin niya sa dalaga ay may kaunti nang bahid ng pag-aalala sa kaniya.

"Are you alright? I've been calling you several times..." Tumango lamang siya at matamlay na ngumiti, "Yes, thanks for your concern, Lady Blanche."

She wasn't very convinced that he was really okay, she still smiled nonetheless. "If ever you have a problem, don't ever hesitate to open up to us. We're your friends, after all. We will never judge you."

Herald almost melted to her words, he's still hesitant however. Would they dislike him once they figured out he's gay? Every fun they had would fade once they what he really is. And that's what scares him the most.

Would someone really accept him for who really is? He doubts that.

"DID YOU HEAR? Lord Rowan was already engaged yesterday!" While fixing his things, Herald flinched hearing news about the man he likes.

So he finally accepted it, huh?

He looked down and bit his lips, trying his best not to react or else, they would suspect him.

"I saw his fiancèe, she was such a beauty!"

"So he was a real man after all? Hadn't he got engaged with a lady, I would've thought he's gay. I've been noticing the way he acts before." He heard one of the lady snickered and it left a bitter taste on him.

"O my, Adeline! You should not speak of such a sensitive topic here!" Isa sa mga babae ay sinuway ang kaniyang kasama subalit tumawa rin. He wiped the falling tear on his cheeks and left the classroom immediately.

This sucks...
