Only Temporary

A Date

Angie POV

After my encounter with Drew I had figured I was fighting a losing battle, he was going to listen, he wasn't even going to try. So maybe I should do exactly what he's done and move on, becuase waiting for him is like waiting for rain in a drought, useless and disappointing.

"There's my favourite girl" Colby beams as he walks into the room

"Everyone's your favourite Colby" I say greeting him with a hug "how are you?"

"Better for seeing you" he smiles "more importantly how are you?"

"I'm good, really good in fact" I smile back at him "what can I do for you?"

"Just a beard trim" he says sitting in the chair "the last girl made a mess of it, I am so glad you're back"

"Let's see" I say running my fingers through his beard "hmm if I were to guess she used blunt scissors, but I can fix it it's just going to be a little shorter than normal"

"Do what you must" he says leaning back in the chair "I trust you"

As I start to trim I see she really had made a mess, it was almost as if she had tried to cut layers into it like you would with hair, god knows what she was thinking, it's a shame becuase Colby always has such a nice beard.

"So um I was wondering" Colby says sounding a little nervous "would you like to maybe have dinner with me tonight?" He asks

"Colby Lopez are you asking me on a date?" I laugh

"Yeah I am" he says "so would you?"

"You know what? Sure I'd love to" I say and the biggest smile spreads across his face "all done, I tried not to be too brutal"

"Perfect as always" he smiles at me in the mirror "please tell me you won't be leaving again"

"Nope this time I'm permanent" I say "You're stuck with me"

"Best news I've had all day" he says "I will see you tonight" he says kissing my cheek

"Yes you will" I smile as he leaves the room

Drew POV

Heading to the make up room I had decided to try and make amends with Angel, I had been unnecessarily rude and she didn't deserve that. At the very least we could be civil and make things a little less uncomfortable.

I had also decided to agree to the talk she had asked for as maybe clearing the air would be good for both of us.
As I near her room I see Colby come out smiling like the cat that got the cream.

"What are you looking so happy about?" I ask as he approaches

"I just got myself a date" he grins

"Good on you lad" I smile "who with?"

"Angie" he smiles "I can't believe she said yes"

Yeah you and me both I think to myself

"Well make sure you show her a good time" I say patting him on the shoulder

"Oh I will" he says walking away

Remaining where I stand I look at the makeup room door, had she really agreed to a date with Colby? Had she really decided to give up and move on?
Deciding theres no point me going in there i turn and walk away, I walk with my head down unable to contemplate the fact that some one else was possibly going to take my place at her side.

"Woah careful there fella" Stephen says as we almost collide

"Sorry didn't see you there" I say "where are you off to?"

"Oh I'm just on my way to see Angie" he says

"Not you aswell" I sigh

"What are you talking about?" He asks

"I just saw Colby, he asked her out and she said yes" I sigh "how did I manage to fuck up so badly?"

"Well first im just asking a friend to have dinner and a catch up" he says "and second you manged it by being a fecking stubborn eejit"

Angie POV

"How ya doing lass" Stephen says as he walks over to me, I had been so lost in thought I hadn't even heard the door open.

"Hi Stephen, I'm good thank you" I say as he give me a hug

"It's good to see you" he says "so what do you say you and me dinner and a catch up?" He asks

"That would be lovely" I smile "tomorrow night good?"

"Perfect" he says "so what you got planned for tonight?"

"Actually I have a date" I say "with Colby"

"You sure you're ready for that?" He asks

"Has he asked you to talk me out of it?" I ask

"No not at all" he says "I maybe his friend but I am also your friend and I just want you to be sure that's all"

"I am sure" I say "it's time I moved on, I can't wait for him forever"

"Angie I'm not adverse to calling some one out on their bs I've done it with him enough" he says lifting my chin so that I look at him "your mouth is telling me one thing but your eyes say something completely different"

"What would you have me do?" I say "spend the rest of my life waiting for someone who doesn't want me?"

"I would never want you to do that" he says "look if you want to go on this date with Colby then do so, just take it slow and give yourself time to get over Drew"

"Thanks" I say giving him a sideways hug "I have to let him go, it's time I accept that we are over"
