Angie POV
After much planning we had finally found a day that all four of us were free to have dinner together.
Stephen and Esmee had wanted to take Drew and I out as a thank you although we had both told them in was unnecessary.
The plan was to meet at the restaurant at 7 but Drew and I were running late, we had a scan appointment today which ran late and consequently it had a domino effect on the rest of the day, Drew had called Stephen and explained and they changed the time to 7.30.
“You ready to go Angel?” Drew asks pulling on his jacket, he was dressed in smart dark jeans and a shirt and he looked incredible.
“Yeah just need to get my shoes on” I say trying to reach my feet
“Here let me help” he chuckles as he walks over and crouches in front of me
“Thank you” I smile
Leaving the hotel we make the short walk to the restaurant where our friends are waiting for us, as short of a walk as it is being six months pregnant my walking speed has slowed somewhat and I know walking at my pace for someone as tall as Drew isn't easy.
“Hey guys, sorry for making you wait” I say giving them both hug
“It’s fine” Esmee smiles “It’s not your fault the hospital was running late, how did it go?” she asks
“Everything is fine, baby is healthy” Drew says as I hand her the scan picture
“Aww Stephen look” she says showing him the picture
“Wow that is amazing” he smiles “Have you picked any names yet?”
“We have but we aren’t saying until he is born” I say
We head into the restaurant and we are taken to a table in a secluded area of the restaurant, Stephen had requested this table so we wouldn’t be bothered by fans during the meal.
“Order whatever you like, I’m paying” Stephen smiles
“Oh no Stephen you don’t have to do that” I say
“Aye we can split the bill mate” Drew says but Stephen shakes his head
“Nope I insist” he says “What kind of thankyou would this be if I let you pay”
“And what’s the reason I’m not paying half? I wanted to thank them as well.” Esmee teased him
"Because I'm being a gentlemen and when you're out with me you should never have to pay for anything" he says smiling at her and from where I'm sat it's written all over his face how much he loves her
"That's sweet but I do like to pay once in while" she says
"Well not tonight beautiful" he says "Tonight I'm treating you"
Esmee sees to let the subject drop and we all order our food and drinks. Once the waiter has left I decide to change the subject.
"I can't believe i never asked this before but how long have you two been friends?" I ask looking between Stephen and Drew
"20 years at least" Stephen says "we met on the British wrestling circuit"
"Thats about right" Drew chuckles "we had a few shows in Ireland and I stayed with him"
"Yeah until you went missing" Stephen laughs
"What?" I ask "you went missing?"
"We had a night out, I left early becuase I had work the next day" Stephen explains "he decided to stay out with the group of lads we'd got talking to and then disappeared for 5 days, there were phones cal, back and forth between me and his family everyone frantic and then he shows up at my door all "hiya mate how are you" like nothing had happened"
"Yeah and he just stands there and says "oh your alive then, happy days now where the fuck have you been" Drew chuckles and we all laugh "those were some good times"
As the conversation continues our food arrives, once the waiter has placed everything on the table Esmee turns to me.
"So how did you and Drew meet?" She asks
"Oh um well I got lost trying to find Steph's office on my first day and Drew showed me the way" I say smiling at him "at first I found him intimidating because well he's huge but then I got to know him and well he's just a big softy"
"It was on the last UK tour" Drew says "we made the mistake of thinking we could have a fling and not get attached, but I fell in love with her almost straight away"
"Flings never end well" Esmee says "you two should have just gotten together properly at the start"
"Aye we know that now" Drew says smiling at me
"Anyone want dessert?" Stephen asks and we all shake our heads
"I'm just going to the bathroom" Esmee says leaving the table
As I watch Esmee head towards the toilets I see her make a sudden turn and head to the cashier stand. Chuckling to myself I take a sip of my water and continue listening to Drew and Stephen's conversation.
Once Esmee returns Stephen gets the attention of the waiter
"Can we have the bill please?" He asks
"Oh it's already been paid for" he says walking away as Stephen turns to Esmee
"You didn't go to the bathroom did you?" He chuckles
"I told you now and again I like to pay" she smiles "I knew you wouldn't let me so I took matters into my own hands"
"But I wanted to treat you" he says
"You can next time" she smiles "this time I treated you"
"I may have to use that trick the next time Drew takes me out" I laugh
"Hmm I'd like to see you try" he chuckles "well thank you for dinner guys even though it wasn't necessary"
"No thank you" Stephen says
"Yes thank you both" Esmee says echoing his sentiment
"All we did was nudge you two did the hard work" I smile
