.I don't want to dream
Because if I did
It'd be all fearDo you ever have one of those dreams
Where you're running
Running and running
Yet there's no destination
And something that's chasing after you
Unnamed and unseen?
That fear
Your heart thumping
You running
Running and running
Those would be my dreams
If I could dream nowI don't want to dream
Because I'd dream of death
I'd dream of disease
In this suffocating madness
Of the pandemic
Which engulfs like a hungry monster
I want my dream world
To be safe
Or to be devoid of dreams at all
Because sleeping or waking
There's only one emotion
Fear, worry, doubt — deathI don't want to dream
Because I'd feel suffocated
Breathless in panic
Because all the day's stress
Would manifest as the monster
Which chases me all night
In my dreams
So I enjoy these dreamless nights
Where you're tired
And your body is just numb
And you can't seem to get out
Of that trance
As much as you try
Because maybe you don't want to
Maybe I don't want to
Get out of my dreamless sleep
And face this world
Which is dying
Just dying in my dreams
Dying for real
And running and running
Trying to escape
From the fate
Which seems inevitable
And the sword is hanging
Above our heads too
By a thin stringI don't want to dream, thus
Dreamless is what I want
My every night to be
I don't want to dream
