Your eyes wander the bazaar as you pull your stole closer to your face, hoping it doesn't fall off your head again. Your feet feel the warm concrete floor all heated up from not just the blooming summer, but also from the hustle and bustle around you as people trade. 'I hope this goes well.' You caress your necklace which hid below your upper.
You catch a glimpse of a hawker, a wooden stick on his shoulders, on which sat birds of all different colours. "Skyscrapers! Rare, tamed and loyal!"
One of them had white feathers and light yellow tints, and a faint baby pink touch to its body. Another one was even prettier, the most gorgeous blue colour you had ever seen, more of a turquoise, accompanied with the blackest of eyes. Another one was a bit more active than the formers, singing a sweet melody occasionally, you giggle at its cuteness. This one was snow white, with a tail which was so beautiful it seemed unrealistic.'Maybe I'll take one of these beauties with me back home.' You think before remembering exactly where the hawker stood to come back and make a purchase later, if you feel like.
You turn around and smile at the lustre growing in the market you were standing in. You saw more foreign traders coming in from the entrance and claiming their spots to sell what they brought from sevens of seas afar. Beautiful earthen vessels, dishes and pots catch your eye, all painted in bright colours, resting next to some ceramic ones too, which had a design of navy blue flowers on them.
'The annual trade fair is indeed a very joyful sight.'
You walk down the path gazing at the stalls, traders exchanging goods for goods. One man hands a seller, a huge conch made of some animal's horn. Another one places a huge bag of wild berries on the trader's table.
'Oh! How did I forget about my favourite thing, food.'
Realisation hits you as you pull your shawl lower to cover your mouth, hiding your face real good, as you fasten your pace to reach the food area, where travellers from around the world brought together edibles of different kind, some astonishing, some blowing your mind.
You notice an old woman fanning herself with a handfan, a fresh bundle of lychees on display in front of her. You rush up to her. 'One bunch, please.' You try to choose the least words possible, not to risk anything.
She smiles before she puts down her fan and brings out a small brown sack twice the size of her hand, as she stuffs in some of the yummy fruits. You open the strings of the tied up cloth bag hanging from your waist as you bring out a handful of gold coins.
The woman's jaw drops as she sees you spread them in front of her. "Pretty little woman, you don't look like your possessions, who gave you this treasure?" She inquires in a low tone to which you smile. You indeed were not wearing a luxurious clothing, it was very normal like everyone else but your money wasn't. "Eh little girl, spend this money wisely, there are too many looters in the streets nowadays." She whispers. You smile and nod as you pick up the little sack.
