42- his diary

You flip the diary's crusty cover to the side, fingers skimming the edge of the diary which leaves a trail of dust stuck to your index finger. Tugging on your bottom lip with a sudden uneasiness in your stomach, your eyes scan the first word his ink had splattered.

The way you saw Jungkook transition from a heartless guy with a scarcity of a purpose in life, to a guy who devoted his life in your name in all extremes, your heart ached.

His first diary entry where he showed his previous, unapologetic cruel side was where he looted a trader who had trouble conversing in the regional dialect but what made you have second thoughts was when he refused to spend even a coin for himself, and instead sent all of that 'earning' back home to pay for his mother's medicines and the kids' education.

There was a huge change in his tone when his mother passed away, his actions in his own words now seemed helpless and forced. He seemed to be wanting to finish this misery soon, completing his studies and escaping this loophole of having to earn money through unlawful ways. He always apologized about whoever he betrayed to get what he needed, he pitied the victim too, which made you pity him.

And then came in the moment you've been waiting for, his first meeting with Taehyung. It was a result of him trying to steal his bag of gold coins in the absence of his attention, but Taehyung's superpowers exceeded Jungkook's intelligence. It was then, that Jungkook owed Taehyung a debt which Taehyung fulfilled by having him embark on a mission he could never accomplish himself.

Just a few days before your 20th birthday, he sent Jungkook after you by showing him a false golden future, using your huge palace as bait.

There's a beautiful girl who'll visit you during the trade fair and you have to look for her, I don't need to give character traits because every inch of her body is heavenly. She'll be more beautiful than any girl you've seen or will see.

Jungkook's heart palpitated at the description Taehyung gave him about you, he wanted your body as much as he wanted your treasures, just like any other young human who gets be thrilled by your enchanting appearance.

But was he in love with you? No, he was just spellbound by your flesh and your bones.

Little did he know that the thing he was going after, jades and diamonds and rubies, will all disappear once he completes his mission. He won't get any of it, he'll lose his own life because that's what Taehyung wanted, to kill the son of that woman who wrecked his home by stealing his father, completely ignoring the fact that it wasn't her fault on any given day.

Taehyung considers himself too lucky to be able to get both his life purposes fulfilled in just a few days, that too at once.

And then came the most emotional and shaking moment of all, him trapping his feelings for you in the miser inches of this little notebook. The way he described you was not inclusive of your body, it was of your actions. He now was in love with the way you felt, not how you looked.

And you hated yourself for not listening to him twice and trying to understand who he really was at the time, in the present. Jungkook fulfilled the promise he made to his mother before leaving, and that was to never betray anyone.

Never leave your loved one's back, never make anyone go through what she herself went through.

And he stayed, even after walking on a bad path, he came back to you and he never backstabbed you in the end. He never gave up on you and kept convincing you until the last moment that he loves you.

You considered yourself too undeserving of Jungkook, all you did was sit inside a cage made of gold, be born with a silver spoon in your mouth, and wait for him to go through all of these sufferings to rescue you.
