Forward in Time

Third POV

Perseus walked through the Grove of Dodona, searching for the source of the power block. He had been thinking intently while searching for any weird signatures of power lying around in the air. Many thoughts flew through his mind.

How would she get the power to create a whole illusion and get Rhea off my radar, but not know where the other Oracles are?! When did the power block happen? Unless it was in Camp Half-Blood.... But Nico told me everything was normal, or even better there. So where was the power block?

Perseus continued to let his mind wander, searching for the answer to all his questions. He knew it would be best if he visited Camp Half-Blood, but he couldn't right then. Instead, he started to search even more furiously, bent on finding the block of power. Then a lightbulb seemed to light up like crazy in his head.

The Olympians.

Nico had told him the gods were trying their hardest to meet their children, even with the Ancient Laws. So what were they all of a sudden trying to change? Perseus knew they wouldn't meet their children unless they were trying to draw power from them, only because they were not so strong. He should have guessed they would be stronger and more efficient and alert after the most recent war, but something had to have caused that. Now Perseus was wondering what made them weak in the first place.

Then Perseus found the power-block for all gods alike, including the Olympians and Dione alike. Himself and Heracles. Perseus facepalmed himself hard, knowing he had messed up. Suspicions would arise soon, and the fingers would be pointed at him. He closed his mind and appeared in Heracles's, looking through his eyes.

They could appear in each other's bodies as spirits and look through their eyes and smell and hear through their body. Perseus wouldn't have any control of Heracles's body, and neither would Heracles to Perseus, but they could receive every thought mentally, know every emotion, and feel and touch and smell physically.

It's us. Perseus said.

But I thought we made sure-

I thought we did too, but there's a rift in us being here and in the whole timeline of how things were supposed to go. It's swallowing all of the gods' power, including Dione here. The Olympians are drawing more power from their children, which is why they are spending more time with their children.

It makes sense, and I can see why it's alarming, but wouldn't that be better for us?

No! They're going to point fingers at us. We need their trust for as long as possible.

We could fix their powers, maybe lend them specific ones. Heracles suggested.

They're going to get suspicious of how we got all this power.

Then Perseus, what do you suggest we do?

Maybe tell Chaos and that weird team of whatevers about it. That will gain a little trust, especially since they have their powers. And I'm going to have dinner with them.

Going to dinner is too dangerous.

We have to risk it. Then Perseus ended the conversation, just barely hearing Heracles sighing frustration before letting his spirit back into his body. He realized he had sat down on the stump, not noticing before. Perseus quickly got up and studied the stump. It was glowing. Perseus pout his hand to it, and immediately heard whispers.

The trees were whispering. But how? Did they just go on forever? Could he hear them because his power wasn't blocked? These were the questions that raced through his mind. Then a horn sounded in the distance, and Perseus knew it was time to go eat dinner with the campers.
