"Piper, I said I was sorry!" Jason cried out, as they climbed the stairs to their apartment floor. Why they weren't using the lift was weird, but Piper had stormed up here, and Jason had followed. No reply from her side. She continued climbing, confident on her towering black heels and a short cocktail dress that did not make it easier for Jason to concentrate.
They'd gone to one of the parties hosted by Piper's interior designing firm. Initially Jason hadn't been thrilled by going. He'd wanted to spend a nice, quiet evening with Piper, but she'd begged and he'd finally relented. Of course, seeing her in a short dress like that was worth it, but now, he didn't.
It was all that stupid clingy blonde's fault at the stupid party. While Piper was busy socializing and talking to future clients, Jason had stood awkwardly at the side. At least the food was good. Then the vulture swooped in out of nowhere. Jason, as his upbringing had taught him, had been polite and amiable. The blonde took it as an invitation for open flirting, and unfortunately, Piper seemed to catch them when the blonde had her arm draped around his shoulder.
"Piper!" He said, breathing hard, finally stopping her at the eighth floor. Two more floors till their floor. He turned her around and almost stumbled back. The way she was glaring at him...
"What?" She said, coldly.
"I'm sorry." He said, gulping.
"Bullshit." She spit out, before pushing past him and continuing.
"Pipes, I swear, I wasn't doing anything!"
"Laughing and chatting while that bitch was all over you is doing something, Jason."
"She...look, I figured she was someone important in your group, and you know I'm not rude to people at the first chance."
"Jason, any woman flirting so hard with you is reason enough to just walk away! But did you? NO. You didn't. You continued."
"I...babe, please, just, listen to me."
"And why should I?" She said, as they reached their floor and Piper wrestled with the lock to get in. Jason was scared she was going to rip it off and leave them forever outside.
"Just.... Gods, I don't know." He said. Piper managed to open the door. She probably would have slammed it on his face but he managed to make it inside really quick.
Their new apartment was pretty awesome, obviously because Piper had renovated it and made so pretty. The door opened to a nice and comfy living room, with cream sofas that were excellent for sometimes sleeping in. On the side was another glass sliding door that opened to a huge balcony, where Piper had hung a sitting swing, for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or the weather. The walls were covered with some photographs- some recent, like their Paris honeymoon (WILD). It was amazing to live here with a beautiful girl. Seriously.
Not nice to have her mad at you for something you didn't even do.
Piper stormed through (what a pun) and threw her stilettos off, rushing towards their bedroom.
"Piper, please. I'm sorry. I would never, ever look at someone or feel for someone the way I feel for you. Please." He said, as he removed his suit, and changed for the night.
"It looked different, today, Grace. Really different." She said, but her voice was low, and Jason thought he heard it shake a little.
She continued to remove that god sexy dress of hers, and Jason tried to concentrate on anything but her in her essentials- maybe a sword fight. Or the pink, slightly fried salmon at the party. Anything but the way her tanned skin clashed so beautifully with her black bra, and the curve her waist seemed to make, and....woah. Time out. Time out. Shake your head, Grace. Concentrate.
"Piper, don't you trust me?" He asked softly, right behind her. It took all his will not to hug her from behind, because she would probably slap him. Hard.
She turned around fast, and though she still had that angry, glaring look, her eyes seemed to shine brighter than usual.
Jason felt like an asshole. He'd made her cry. Not out of some love or sappy romantic thing but because he'd made her mad.
"Of course I do. I did today, didn't I? And look at what I saw." Her voice trembled some more. A tear escaped her eye, which she furiously wiped.
"Gods, Pipes, I'm so sorry," he gushed out, before hugging her close. He could feel her attempts to push him away. She beat at his back and his chest, but he held on. Slowly, she relaxed, and hugged him back, before breaking into sobs. Jason's heart squeezed a little more. He was a bad guy.
He kept murmuring in her ear that he was sorry, and she calmed down. They both collapsed on the bed, where he continued to hold her as she took in deep breaths to control her tears. He pushed her hair back, and saw her face. Was it fair that even like this she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen? Why hadn't he outright told blonde bitch that he wasn't interested?
"Its just," she gulped, her eyes not meeting his, "that when we started dating, I used to get these panic attacks, like how you would find someone better than me, more beautiful than me, more accomplished at fighting and surviving the monsters, more...Roman, and then you told me you only wanted me. And I was OK with that, really. Then I saw Percy and Annabeth and how comfortable they were together, and they started again. After the war I was fine, but today I just-"
"Hey, hey, listen to me." He said, bringing her chin up to look into her ever confusing eyes.
"What I said then is true. I only want you, Piper, as you are, with all your talents and faults- I can't imagine myself with someone better. Its why I never really dated, like proper, before you- in a way, you were my first everything." He whispered. Her tears had stopped altogether. Her eyes were wide now, and she huddled closer.
"I'm not saying Percy and Annabeth aren't special, but I'm an ass, I'd say that we are even more because or love was born in spite of the then Roman and Greek differences and enemity- we survived it. I love you too much to find someone else attractive- that's what THEY are. They're attractive- but they're not beautiful. They're not YOU."
She smiled. "I forgive you then."
"I think I should get into acting."
"Wait, that was all fake?" She winked.
"Gods, no. I meant it. But I think I must have looked good saying it, right?"
"You did. You looked very handsome indeed. I love you so much, Sparky."
They kissed and then fell asleep.

Ha, I got this whole climbing the stairs idea from PS I Love You (the movie, first scene) so I wanted to put it here. I hope you liked this!I keep thinking how I don't mention Jason's glasses in this story, at all. So I'm going with this: that Will Solace told Jason to increase his vitamins and all, or did some Apollo like magic, and somehow Jason doesn't need his glasses full time- maybe just while reading or something. Cool? Thanks!
Until after March 2, amigos!
Cherie, XOXO
