You and Cheryl had been working together for a few months now. Your Antionette collection became a hit in the new year and Cheryl released the partnership after the collection. You had your own assistant and office now, though it was three doors from Cheryl's. A bathroom and a view. With your new position you were able to get out of your small studio apartment and into a home.
"Y/N," Your assistant George knocks. "You have a call on line three. Its Betty."
"Thank you George," you smile. "Can you grab that order of green fabric for me? I meant to grab it earlier but forgot."
"Right on it," he nods, shutting the door.
"What's up Betty?" You answer.
"Hey, Y/N, how's work?" She asks.
"It's good. Where are you? I hear cars?" You ask. "Betty are you walking around the city? You're supposed to be at home on bed rest. Does Jughead know you're out?"
"That doesn't matter," Betty sighs. "I can't stand it there anymore. It's too quiet."
"Well your not supposed to be stressing. It's not good for the babies," you chide.
"Y/N, I am walking up to your office," Betty laughed. "Too late for your arguments and to change my mind."
"You're here? Elizabeth Jones," you sigh. "You're gonna be dead. George will let you in. Stop by Cher's. I'm sure she'll love to berate your stupid behavior."
"Cher?" Betty laughs. "No one calls her that."
"I do," you laugh. "She likes it."
"Only because you call her that," Betty explained. "She would never let us call her that. Babe, you're the only one who can do most things to her."
"That's not true," you laugh opening your office door. "Are you almost to the floor?"
"Here now," Betty says as the elevator dings. "Hey." You shake your head at the pregnant woman.
"Come on," you sigh. "Don't you dare tell Jones that I let you in."
"I won't," she promises.
You knock lightly on Cheryl's door, "Cher?"
"Come in," Cheryl called. "Elizabeth! What are you doing here?"
"Not following doctors orders," You roll your eyes.
"I was dying," she sighed. "I can't stand it there alone. It drives me crazy."
"Well, sit down," you pull a chair. "Please."
"Cousin," Cheryl groaned. "You're going to be the death of your husband. Where is he?"
"He's at work," Betty shrugged. "He doesn't know and doesn't need to."
"Did you walk here?" You ask.
"Yes."
"Betty."
"Calm down, I'm joking. I had a cab drop me off," she laughed. "I'm pregnant with twins, I couldn't walk half a mile."
"Well, I wouldn't put it past you."
"Well, what do you want to do then?" Cheryl asks. "Lunch?"
"Ooh yes," Betty smiled. "Let's do that."
"Bless your soul, Mrs Jones," you shake your head. "Okay let's get lunch. What do you want?"
"Ugh I've been craving Pop's," Betty sighed.
"That's in Riverdale," Cheryl said.
"I know that," Betty said. "But, I want it so bad."
"We wouldn't be back by the time Jughead gets home," she said.
"Damnit."
"I can handle this," you sigh picking up the phone. "Jughead?"
"Cheryl?" Jughead says.
"No, this is Y/N," you say. "Someone decided to make their way to the office today, we think she's yours."
"What?"
"Betty is here," you sigh. "She wants Pop's."
"How did she get there? Is she okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah. She's fine, just hungry. We are gonna take her to Riverdale," you explain. "Then home because she's crazy."
"Riverdale? Y/N she's seven months pregnant with twins," Jughead said.
"I know but she's dying in the house and from what I know, you don't need a crazy cooper," you say and she eyes you. "Sorry... Okay, but she wants to have Pop's and she has agreed to bring you back a burger and a milkshake."
"I don't want the food, I want her home," Jug sighed.
"Jughead, listen, I know you want her home but she doesn't want to be home. She wants Pop's. So, we are gonna make a deal okay? You meet us here later and you get your three burgers and a melted small milkshake. This makes Betty happy, you will be happy and I won't have to drag a pregnant woman back to her own house as she refuses."
"Y/N..."
"No! You have a good deal here Jones, do you really want to lose this opportunity? Betty also promises that after we get Pop's today that she will stay home and ask others to bring her what she wants," you say. "Can you afford to lose this opportunity. You and I both know that if I don't bring Betty to pops that she will just pull this stunt again. Can you afford to miss the birth of your children because you won't let her leave? Is that something you want? She can give birth in the next month and who knows where she will be if you don't let her go."
"This is why I have her on my team," Cheryl smiled.
"Listen, Jones, do you think we are gonna let her lift her finger? I will hire someone to push her around in a wheelchair. She will be taken care of," you promise. "She won't have to move an inch on her own."
"Fine...."
"Awesome, Jones, I'll bring your two burgers and a large fry," you smile.
"Great." You hang up and smile at the girls.
"Didn't you promise him three burgers and a milkshake?" Betty asked.
"Oh honey," you laugh. "This is a negotiation and we don't do more then what it's worth. And Jughead didn't notice."
"Okay, the faster I get you to Riverdale, the faster I can get you home," Cheryl chides. "Let's go bowling ball."
"I have to grab my purse from my office. I'll meet the two of you down there," you smile. "Get a wheel chair, Betty."
"Will do," she nods.
"I've got that green fabric for you," George says. "Where would you like it?"
"I will actually take that from you," you smile at your assistant. "You're free to take a long lunch today. Cheryl and I are going to lunch in Riverdale."
"Where's that?"
"All you have to know is that we will be gone for a while. Take a long lunch," you look back at him as you toss the fabric on your work table. "No more than two and half hours though. Orders need to be shipped today. We will be back before close. Will you also leave a message for Veronica letting her know we will be over in Riverdale at Pop's?"
"Yes ma'am," he nods. "Anything else?"
"Not that I can think of at the moment," you look at your phone. "Invite Josh to lunch, he's been eyeing you."
"Josh?"
"Yes," you laugh. "Now, have fun make sure no one goes in my office."
"Have fun on your date," he says as you get to the elevator. You stop and look at him confused. "It's not a date?"
"No..."
"I just figured that you guys were so close and there's obviously something there that... I'm sorry for assuming," he says. "Won't happen again."
"No don't apologize... It would be nice to go on a date no?" You bite your lip. "Does anyone else think this? I don't want that over my head since I'm Co-Chair."
"Everybody thinks it," he looks away as your jaw drops. "I mean it's not that they think you slept your way to the top or anything. It's just you guys are close and we think it would be cute for you to finally go on that date."
"Right..."
"Everyone loves you," he goes on. "We know your talent. Your lines are great and we see why Cheryl likes you. But I'll be sure to tell everyone it's not a thing."
"Well, I mean," you call his attention back to you. "It wouldn't not be great. But Cheryl and I are busy. Don't get your hopes up. This isn't some fan fiction that can be swayed by the public."
"Right."
You get on the elevator as the doors open and wonder what it would be like to date Cheryl. Of course you remember the day you were hired and how you agreed that work would surely come first. That no one would be think you were swindling your way into the business. But if everyone already knew that, would there be a problem? You meet the two at the car and Betty was telling Cheryl about her bladder problems as the pregnancy gets close to it's end.
"What are you talking about?" You ask sliding next to the redhead.
"You don't wanna know."
"It's been harder for me to control my bladder lately because Baby B really likes to swing at it like a punching bag. Then Baby A will squeeze it when they move. It's getting old fast," she sighs.
"I think it's nice that you aren't letting yourself get caught up with gender reveals and what not... Not knowing the genders before they are born is awesome. I wouldn't be able to do it," you explain. "I mean isn't it kill you guys not knowing what you're having?"
"It's definitely hard to not ask the doctors when I go for my appointments but we have been keeping each other strong. I think it's fun though too. You know, the thrill of keeping everything neutral in colors and having names waiting for them. It's exciting," she finishes.
"Well I can't wait to spoil them," you say.
"Your husband wants updates from you as much as possible," Cheryl reads her phone.
"So," you sigh. "Everyone at work thinks we're dating."
"Oh?"
"Yeah," you nod. "George told me about it. And I obviously told him we weren't."
"Good. Good," Cheryl nods. "Well, good because that would be a lot of paperwork. And my girlfriend wouldn't appreciate that." Oh no...
