Y/N and Jughead have been arguing for what feels like hours. They keep coming to this place, where they can barely have a conversation. They haven't spoke to each other in weeks, either because school or because they were too busy with the every day drama of Riverdale. So, they found themselves in this rut and it didn't feel like they weren't together anymore.
"Where were you?" Y/N asks crossing her arms. "Were you with Betty again? Do you still have feelings for her? Is this why you've been acting so weird?"
"What? I am not the one acting weird, Y/N! You are out at weird times of the night. Being secretive with your phone. And why does it matter if I hang out with Betty? She's my friend! And I thought she was your friend too."
"She is! But she is also the one who broke your heart! She's the one who used you for so long! Jug, I love you and I don't want to lose you. And I definitely don't want you to get hurt," y/n sighed and threw her hands in her hair.
"That's what you keep saying. But none of that is important if you can't trust me! I can't keep having this argument with you Y/N! You keep doing this! Over and over! The same fight different week!" He shouts. "Why can't you trust me? Why is it so hard for you to trust me?"
"It's not! I do trust you Jug, I do."
"No you don't." He shook his head. "I can't... I know that you've been hurt. I do. And I thought I could get over all of this. But, I don't think I can."
"What does that mean?"
"It means... Maybe we aren't good for each other, Y/N. We don't see each other enough. We've been living two entirely different lives and it's not good for us. We fight all the time. I can't deal with this. It shouldn't be this hard."
"Relationships aren't always easy and if you don't know that... Maybe we aren't good for each other. And, as for you bring up... Him... I can't."
"I didn't mean to hurt you," he sighed.
"Oh, I think you did," you said. "And, it worked. I'm leaving Jughead." You wipe your face and open the door. Cold, rainy air hit your face as you walk out into the night. You could barely make it down the driveway. You wanted to collapse right there as you got further away. You couldn't even notice the car tailing you along the way. And you didn't notice the person jump out. He throws a rag over your mouth and his other arm goes across your chest. You scream, but it comes out muffled from the rag. You try to fight, but he was too strong. You tried and tried but nothing worked. Your body became weaker as he pushed harder on you. Your limbs finally gave out as he dragged you back to his car and threw you in.
News travels fast in Riverdale, so the next afternoon when no one had heard from you. People started to worry. Your parents didn't see you all night and your bike was no where to be seen. News hit Jughead last.
"Hey, Jug," Betty sat slowly in front of him looking at her phone again. He hummed in response, as he was in a mood and on his laptop. "When was the last time you spoke to Y/N?"
"Last night. She was at my house. Why?" He asked still not looking at her.
"They can't find her, Jug. She's missing," Betty said slowly. "Her parents are going to the cops now. She hasn't been home. Her phone is going straight to voicemail and they can't track it. Where was she going after she left? Was she going home?"
"Wait..." he shut his laptop. "Y/N is missing?" She nods sadly. "I don't know..." he stutters. "We got into this fight and she left. She didn't say if she was going home or not. Are you sure she's just not hiding out? Trying to be alone?"
"It's been twenty four hours," she said. "They will start putting clues together. You need to make sure you talk to her parents and the police." He nods slowly, still processing the information. "And Jug, are you alright? I'm so sorry." He was silent. "Can I get you anything?"
"No. I think I should go home," he said. "I'll see you later." He puts his things together quickly and rushes out of the diner. He didn't want to go home. He couldn't. So he walked around town and found himself at the park where he and Y/N had their first kiss. It was a muddy mess now from the recent storms. But he could still replay the moment in his mind. The way they were arguing over a movie and the plot then he just kissed her. Mid-argument. She was caught off guard and he just chuckled as he pulled away. "Sorry, I just..."
"No... I'm so glad you did it!" You said to him and his eyes lit up. "I have liked you for so long Jug, I just didn't know how to tell you. I didn't want to do anything because you just broke up with Betty and you loved her so much. I didn't want to be that girl. And Betty is friend. I didn't want to do it to her either. I was scared you wouldn't like me the way I liked you. And, now you kissed me and it seems like it was stupid of me to think the way I did." Jughead just smiled as you rambled on about all of the things you were scared of.
You were not having the same sentiment. You'd been tied up in a dark room, beaten and bloody. Everything hissed as you tried to move. Nothing helped the weakness in your body. Your capters were relentless on getting information from you. Though, you didn't say anything. You had to stay strong to keep your friends safe, but you weren't sure how long you'd be able to keep your mouth shut. You were becoming tired and hungry. Your body was ignoring your thoughts and was pleading for some type of comfort, even if just warmth.
Jughead sighed as he pushed off the tree he was leaning on and began his walk home. He's found himself at this spot for the last two weeks as they kept looking for you. His dad's car was in the driveway already and he knew why. FP was sitting at the table, hands balled up and chewing on the side of his thumb. As soon as his son came in, there was relief in his eyes. "Where the hell have you been, boy? I've been trying to call you."
"I went for a walk. My phone must've died? What's wrong?" Jughead found himself frozen in the doorway. "Dad?"
"They found Y/N's bike in the woods, it's wrecked. Her phone wasn't far from it," his dad explained. "We are ruling it a kidnapping. Things aren't looking good, we need you down at the station again for questioning."
He didn't know what to say. He was too scared to say anything, too angry. "Okay." His dad stood and walked over to his son, wrapping his arms around him.
"I'm sorry, kid." Jug wanted to scream and punch someone. He wanted to punch himself. If only he could've made things up with you and maybe you wouldn't be gone right now. If he hadn't been so caught up in everything else and paid more attention to you, and took you home that night. All of the 'ifs' running through his head. "I'll bring you down to the station."
"When was the last time you seen Y/N?"
"Two weeks ago."
"Where?"
"My house."
"When did she leave?"
"Around ten."
"What were you doing? Did she say where she might've been going?"
"We were arguing. Things have been pretty... trying lately. School and the every day Riverdale drama; it's been hard on us. And like I said two weeks ago, no, she never said where she was going. If I knew then we wouldn't be here."
"How angry were you that night? Scale of one to ten."
"I don't know, a five."
"Is there anyone you can think of that might want to hurt Y/N? Anyone she was having troubles with?"
"Yeah. Mrs Blossom, Gargoyles, Penny Peabody."
"What about anyone your age? Betty Cooper? You guys were a couple not too long ago and she's had a tough year. Do you think she could've snapped and done something?"
"No! Not Betty. They were friends."
"Were they? I mean it's pretty messed up that Y/N would date her friends ex."
"Look, I don't know who did this. But, it wasn't Betty."
"How do you know?"
"I.. I was on the phone with her that night. I called her after Y/N left."
"Why?"
"Because I need someone to talk to."
"Alright, you're free to go."
A metal bar was slammed into your shin, making you scream out in pain, "Tell me where you hid that box!" Another hit. Pain radiated around you. "Where is it?"
"I don't know!"
"Liar."
"No. I didn't hide it."
"Where did they hide it? You tell each other everything. So, tell me where it is," Penny screamed. "Where did she put it?"
"I don't know! I don't know where Gladys put it. I don't even know where Gladys is now!"
"Have fun with her." Penny shook her head and looked at the two masked men.
A month had now passed, there were still no leads on where you had went and police had started to give up the search. It seemed that there was another Jason Blossom mystery. But, everyone prayed it wouldn't end the same way. People stopped talking about it though. Stopped caring so much, everyone believed you to be dead with no remains. But, legally it wasn't presumed. Jughead was looking for anything that might show where you were, but nothing. Whoever took you, didn't want you to be found yet. He was lost in a spiral of awful thoughts. He couldn't stop thinking of you, he felt alone.
You did too, your pain subsided to complete numbness. They fed you once a day, scraps of whatever they had eaten. Bruises covered almost every inch of your body and you had wounds that weren't healing. You were in and out of consciousness but didn't sleep. You pleaded and you begged to be let go. They refused. You hadn't seen Penny in a long time. You couldn't count the days you'd been in there. There was no light, other than a light bulb in the doorway. They kept it off, if they weren't in with you. You could hear the screams of other captees, but that was the only thing you could count on now. No one spoke to you. You didn't have any human contact. And you knew it was on purpose. They were trying to make you go insane, and it was working. You screamed for noise and tried to get out.
"Shut the hell up! I can't hear you scream every day!"
"Let me out."
"Not gonna happen, now fucking eat." He shoved something in your mouth. "If you scream again, I'll break your jaw."
"Please I don't know anything. I'm not even with Jughead anymore!"
"Don't care. That's not why we have you."
"Why?"
"We have you because we can and that's why no ones found you. No one knows your gone." You scream again, tears falling down your face. His fist connects with your face. "I fucking told you to shut up. It's been months of this screaming shit. I'm over it. You're gonna learn." Months. You had been in here for months. No one has found you in months. Maybe no one was looking for you.
"How long?"
"How long what?"
"Have I been in this shit hole?"
"Seven months." He sneered as he grabbed the pole. "Now, were gonna five you a little lesson on how to listen."
"Jug," Kevin knocked lightly. "How are you?"
"I'm fine. What do you want?" Nothing. No emotion. No movement. He didn't look up from his laptop.
"Just checking on you. We haven't seen you around. What are you doing?"
Jughead was looking over messages from you. Rereading everything. All of your conversations about foods and movies that Jughead absolutely hated, but you loved. He was reading all of the good mornings and good nights. The I love you's and the I hate you's. He laughed at the arguments that you guys had over which was the best character in the Marvel Universe. He couldn't stand the thought that you were gone, the thought that maybe you were dead. He threw his phone against the bedroom bedroom wall in rage. The sound rattled through the colonial as he wrecked his room throwing things off his desk and dresser. His fist slammed into the wall, putting a hole in its place. Kevin watched in shock, he didn't know how to stop him.
"Jug? You alright?" FP was slowly entering the room. "What happened to the wall?"
"I threw my phone." He didn't look at his dad, just the floor. His dad raised a brow. "And a fist." FP was confused, he'd never seen Jughead like this. Sure he's been in a fit of rages before. But, not like this. "It's my fault she's gone." FP and Kevin had the same sad look. "I should've been a better boyfriend to her. Now she's gone and possibly dead. I should have brought her home." He was shaking.
"It's not your fault she's gone," FP said wrapping his son in his arms. "It's not your fault. You love her and she knows that. She's not dead."
"We don't know that all because I couldn't be better for her," Tears escaped his eyes. "I can't... I can't do this without her. I can't function."
"You can and you will. You are not going to blame yourself for this. You need to be here for when she gets back."
"What if she never comes back!"
    "She will."
You could barely breathe through the pain in your chest, they'd moved on to your ribs. Knocking you over and kicking your chest. You were sure your arm was broken and your knee as well. Your jaw was tight as he grabbed you by your chin pulling you up. You stopped caring what they did to you. Stopped wondering if someone was going to save you because they weren't. They will not be coming to your rescue because you didn't matter. They probably think you left over your fight with Jughead. No one knew you were missing. No one was looking for you either. You  stopped hearing them speak to you in your dreams. You stopped wishing. You were finally ready to give up. You didn't fight it when they hit you. You didn't even flinch when they swung the metal pole. There was nothing left for you anymore.
"This isn't fun if you don't fight back."
"Why should I? I have nothing to lose right?"
"I think it's time to go harder on her."
    "Harder?"
"Give me your pocket knife." The one you learned was John threw something metal towards the one named Chris. "I like to hear you scream."
"Fuck off," you spit as he pushes a blade against your arm. He didn't push and you didn't squirm until it went up to your chest. He pushed it and slid it down the middle of your chest between your breasts. You finally screamed out in pain and he smirked. "Stop!"
"Fine," He said. "John pick her up and make sure she doesn't get any dinner tonight. We drop her tonight." Jon nods as Chris left the room and he pulled you off the ground.
"Drop me? Are you gonna kill me?" John says nothing as he fixes your chair and restraints. "You are aren't you. Good. I can't see myself living this life anyways." But you were terrified. You'd thought about death for so long now. Begged for it. But, you didn't want to see it coming. You wanted it to just happen. They drug you out of the building and to the same vehicle they threw you in so long ago. You were still restrained and couldn't move. The drive wasn't more than ten minutes before they pulled over and pulled you out of the car. Throwing you to the ground. "Do it then. Kill me." Chris chuckled before bringing his foot up and then into to your face. Knocking you out.
You wake up to the sound of crickets and frogs. You were wet and covered in grass. Light shone through some trees into your eyes as you stood up. Pain shooting up your right leg as you did so. It took you a minute to focus on where you were, you knew it. The Riverdale park, more specifically the bridge. No one was around, there was only the sound of nature. You wanted to scream and jump. You were free. You slowly limped out of the park cars sped past you as you made it to the school. It was already in session. You have to make it up the stairs and to the doors. Tears stain your already stained face. You barely notice the other students as you push open the door. They all stare shocked.
"Is that? Is that Y/N?" Someone asks.
   "Oh my god it is!"
"Jughead," Archie hits the kids back. "Look!" Jughead was ready to hit his friend before he saw you. His jaw dropped instantly and he couldn't move. This had to be a dream. You looked like you just crawled out of a grave. "It's Y/N."
"Oh my god!" Betty was the first to your side. "Y/N, oh my god!" She was careful as she helped you to a nearby bench. "Someone call help!" You close your eyes as you lean your head against the cold bricks. Veronica was on the phone and Archie ran off somewhere. Jughead, stayed in his place. Watching you. Confused. "Y/N, can you hear me?" You nod. "What happened?"
"They took me," you swallow back a sob. "They took me and they beat me. At first it was was for information but then they just did it for fun. They kicked me and beat me with this metal pole. He ran a blade down my chest." You look at the blonde. "I didn't think I was gonna see you again. I thought they were going to kill me." You cry. "I thought they were gonna come after you guys after me. I was so scared." She nods and brings you into a small hug.
"I'm so sorry this happened," Betty said as Archie came back with ice and the nurse. "I'm so sorry." She was crying now too. "We are gonna take care of you, okay?" You nod.
"FP will be here in five minutes and a ambulance is right behind him. Is she conscious?" Veronica asks still on the phone with the operator.
"Yes, shes fully conscious and talking," Archie answers. "Y/N, I'm gonna pull your pant leg up to get a bandage on your leg and wrapped to this." You just nod as he pulls your ripped legging up to your knee and holds something against the back of your leg as he wraps an ace bandage around it. "Her legs definitely broken, I think her knee is shattered. I don't know how she got here."
"Adrenaline," the nurse says. "It can get you so far, but that ambulance is going to need to get here quickly."
"Everyone needs to back up now!" A voice booms from behind the clustered students. "Now!"
"Everyone needs to get to class now!" Principal Weatherbee says. "Let's go!" The student file out.
"Y/N? Can you tell me where you are?" FP asks kneeling in front of you.
    "Riverdale... High."
"Good. Okay, we are gonna get you on a gurney," he explains. "You don't have to move. We will do it for you." They go to get you on the gurney.
"Wait! Betty please don't leave me." You grab the blondes hand and she nods.
"It's okay. I'm gonna be with you the entire time." She held your hand as they loaded you into the ambulance. And she road with you there.
"Are you okay Jug?" Kevin asked. "Do you need to sit down?" He didn't answer. "Okay, come on. They are leaving, we need to meet them at the hospital." Still nothing. "Jughead! You need to snap out of whatever this is, Y/N is hurt and she is going to need you when she gets there. You have no idea what happened to her in the time she was there. So get over whatever is going on in your weird mind and let's go."
   "Okay."
"She's suffered some severe trauma, she's lost a lot of blood and she needs a transfusion. Her left arm is broken. Her knee is shattered and will need surgery. She has two broken ribs and the rest are cracked. We are going to go in to her side and try to put together her ribs again. She is in for a lot. We don't know how long it will take."
"Her parents are on their way in, is there any way that we can get in there before she goes into surgery?" FP asked.
"She might be in and out but I'm sure you can get a few things out of her," the doctor said. "Try not to add too much stress."
"Got it. Jughead, do you wanna come?"
"He does," Veronica spoke up and pushed him forwards. "Go."
"Y/N?" FP knocked lightly. You were lying in bed. IV connected to you and cords that didn't seem to end. Bruises covered your skin. "How are you feeling?"
"I've been a lot better," you said. "I think this definitely tops that one time I was at your trailer and fell out of the door." The Jones' chuckle. "And, let's just say before they connected this tube, I thought I was going to shatter into a million pieces."
"Well, I'm glad you didn't. The doctors explained everything that they are going to do. If you want an explanation," FP said.
"No. Just want to see my parents."
"Well they will be here any minute. Jug, do you want to say anything?"
"Um." He coughed. "Can we have a minute alone? I just.." He waited until his dad left the room and shut the door. "Y/N, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I should have been there. I should have taken you home. It's all my fault. I can't... forgive myself for this and I don't expect you to either. I have been looking for you. I haven't stopped, I wasn't going to."
   "Jug.."
"No, please, I just want to say this. I couldn't think without you. Every minute you were gone, I became more of this shell. I was nothing without you and I don't want to be like that again. I can't feel like that. I was stupid for letting you go that night. I don't want anyone else but you, Y/N."
"Jug," you say again. "It's not your fault. I don't blame you for any of this." You had tears in your eyes. "I thought of you every second until they made me numb to everything. I thought you weren't looking for me. And, I am so sorry that I accused you of cheating."
"No don't apologize. Our relationship was hard and I know you've been through a lot. I drug you through the mud. But, I won't do that again. I won't treat you wrong ever again. I love you."
"I love you too," you say. "I love you so much. I've missed you so much. And I don't know how long I was gone, but I'm sorry that you went through that."
"Y/N, you were gone for a year. A year," Jug explains. "We found your wrecked bike and phone. We thought you were dead."
   "Me too."
"We don't have to talk about this. You should rest," he said. "You've been through a lot." You nod and grab his hand as he gets up to leave.
"Don't leave me alone." You say quickly. "Please."
"Okay. I won't not until you want me to," he said sitting back next to you and running his free hand through your hair. "I won't leave." He kissed your hand and you close your eyes finally being able to rest for the first time in so long. You would probably cry if you weren't on so many drugs.
