"Where are we going again?" You ask for the fifth time this ride. "Veronica asked and I am trying to explain it to her."
Reggie gives you a look, "babe, if you ask me this one more time.... I think I'm gonna drive the car into a tree."
"I'm sorry! I just don't know exactly where we are going and I didn't want to get it wrong then have to reexplain why I am stupid. It's just easier to ask," you pout. "I mean you took me on a plane to a different country, which I am grateful for by the way."
"I think you should just sit still while I safely take us to the destination which is on the gps," he points out. "Tell Veronica to leave you alone."
"Well, she's just making sure you don't kill me," you laugh. "I mean tourist die every day in outside countries. I'm not sure what Greece's numbers are but there are movies where couples go away for a vacation and only one comes back because the other is dead."
"You watch too many movies," he shook his head. "Veronica knows where we're going. I told her everything."
"You told Veronica everything? What's everything? You told her before me?" You ask.
"Yes because she knows you more than anyone else and I wanted her opinion," he laughed. "I didn't want to take you on a vacation you didn't like."
"Well that's why you talk to me and we plan together," you tap his cheek with your finger. "This was a great anniversary surprise by the way, I am feeling a little guilty about mine."
"You got me tickets to my favorite teams last game," he laughed. "Do not feel bad. I can't wait to go and sit almost completely on the field."
"Still, you brought me out of the country for the first time to this beautiful country and I just got you seats to a game," you frown. "I'm gonna have to make it up to you somehow."
"Please, you have made it up already," he said. "Seriously, these last few years have been the best years of my life. And you know you do like everything for me so."
"Well, I have an amazing time too. Especially these last few days," you look out the window. "I mean the sights here are gorgeous and the food... Now you're surprising me with something else."
"Well we're here," he said as he parked. "It's a beach."
"I can see that dick," you laugh and look out at the clear blue waters. "I've never seen a beach so... clean."
"Well, come on," he grabbed opened your door for you and grabbed your hand. "As a celebration of our last day here, I thought we could enjoy the sun and the sounds of nature here. It's not as secluded so we can walk to that little bar right there if we need anything but we shouldn't because I have a little bag here for us."
"How thoughtful," you smile as he pulls you to an empty part of the beach. He threw his bag down first and grabbed a blanket to lay down. "It's so nice here. I never want to leave."
"Well, how would you tell your parents?" He laughs. "Or our friends?"
"I'm staying here," you shrug. "Sounds easy enough."
"Oh stop," he laughed. "Besides our lives being in Riverdale. We do have to stop in Vegas, which you love."
"I like it better here though."
"You're cute," Reggie laughed. "Here have a glass." He handed you a glass of wine from the lunch he packed. "You know, these last few years have been a lot of ups and downs. And when we first started dating, I didn't think that we'd be here now. I am so glad we got to where we are now."
"Awe, Reg," you smile. "I'm happy to be where we are now too, not only because Greece. I love you."
"I love you too," he says. "And, that's why I brought you out here. I thought it would be a nice way to show my appreciation to you. I also got you something." He pulled a gift wrapped box from his bag.
You open it slowly pulling out a book, "Reggie." You flip the cover over and it's full of pictures of the two of you. "Our first date! You got a rock from Pops? That's so sweet." You flip to the next one. "Is this the flower from your tux at prom?" He nods. "Look how little we were!"
"Go to the last page," he said and you flip through the pages seeing more photos of you guys. "I added a section for our trip here."
"First trip to Greece," you smile. "A page for the beach. A page for our hike on Mount Olympus. A page for a memento. And a page for the moment she said yes..." You swallow and look at the page and a ring that was taped lightly to it. "Reggie, is this? I swear if this is something stupid like she said yes to getting lunch."
He laugh, "babe there's a ring there, it's a proposal." His hand grabbed your free one pulling you to face him. "Like i said, these last few years have been the greatest. I love you so much and I can't imagine spending the rest of my days with you. I want to spend an eternity with you, Y/N, you're the love of my life. You make me so happy and you showed me what it's like to be in a real loving relationship. You showed me how to be happy. So, please, make me even happier and marry me?"
"Reggie," you sniff a little as tears fall down your face. "That was so... You are the best thing to ever happen to me." You can't manage to hold your tears anymore so you can barely talk through the sobs. "You... You are the most amazing person in the world and I would love to marry you." You slide the ring out of the little tape pocket and onto your finger. "God, you're the best." You grab his face and kiss him. "I love you Reginald Mantle!" You kiss him again. "I can't believe you got all of this together. Now I really have to make up my gift to you!"
"You already did," he leaned his head into yours. "I love you too, Y/N." He kissed your nose then your cheeks right under eyes and then landed on your lips.
"I can taste my tears on your lips and it's weird," you laugh. "God, you're perfect." You wrap your arms around his neck. "This is was honestly so perfect."
"I'm glad you liked it," he smiles. "Now, I say we finish off this picnic and go home." You nod excitedly. When you arrive back at the resort you make sure to give Reggie the proper celebration for your engagement in many ways. And in the morning you both give a final goodbye to Greece watching the sun rise from the airport. "Babe, do you want this little key chain? I told my mom I'd get her a little souvenir where better to get one?"
"No, I think I have enough souvenirs," you look at your ring and smile. "But your mom will probably want that." You point to a bottle of wine. "Red because she doesn't like white or rose."
"How do you know my mom better than me?" He laughed and grabbed the bottle. "Next stop Heathrow then Las Vegas because you've always wanted to see it there."
"You know what would be so fun? So, you love Las Vegas right?" You stand next to him. "What if we stayed there for the night? We'd be tired from the flight there and I think it would be fun to see everything. Maybe we could see a fight or a show?" You grab his hand. "I'll pay for our night in Vegas as part of my makeup gift. I'll get you a ticket to see a fight and we can go to a casino."
"Alright," he laughed. "We can stay in Vegas! You know I can't say no."
"No, I know you can say no unless you think the same as me," you smile. "I'm so excited!"
"I know," he chuckled. "They're calling our flight." You slept most of the two flights and were ready to go to a hotel and lay down. "Welcome to Vegas baby."
"Yay!" You smile. "I'm so excited, but I couldn't find any fights tonight." You bite your lip. "I'm sorry."
"I didn't need to see a fight anyways," he shrugged. "Let's see the town go to dinner. Then we can go back to the hotel and lay in the giant bed that many others have slept in and pass out."
"Sounds dreamy," you laugh. "Lead the way." He took you down the long lit road. Many people passed some in amazingly out there clothes. You stop for drinks at a bar. "Ooh look a little dare basket! Do a dare for a free shot." You grab a dare out of the basket. "I can never put down a dare." You unravel the paper. "Go to the bar and announce that you just got news." You laugh a little and put the paper in the used basket. "Hey everyone! I just got great news!" Everyone looks at you, confused and waiting. "I'm engaged!" Some people clap and others go back to their conversations. The bartender hands you a shot of something in a colorful plastic cup.
"Guess that means my turn?" Reggie laughed. "Okay, oh look it says kiss the prettiest person here." He threw the paper back in the basket. "I can't do that, obviously that's me." You roll your eyes as he pulled you close and kissed you softly. "Hey, what if we got eloped? Like right now?" You laugh a little looking at him. "I'm serious! We can have a ceremony or whatever, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you as my wife. You're already wearing white! Why not?"
"Our parents will kill us! Your mom will be so mad," you laugh. "Are you serious?"
"Who cares what they think? Look, I love you and you love me right? We don't know what's gonna happen in the next few months. We don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow or even in the next hour. I want to be with you and I want to marry you as soon as possible," he says. "Do you not want to?"
"You know what?" You bite your cheek as you think about it. "Let's do it! Let's go get married and we can live stream it on Facebook or something! I want to be married to you, Reggie Mantle."
     "Really?" He looked surprised.
"If you want too then I want too," you smile. "Let's do it! I want to be married to you as soon as possible."
"Let's go then," he smiled. He pulled you out to the street and to a taxi stand. It doesn't take long for a car to pull up. After finally finishing the papers you managed to get a license and were on your way to the little drive thru chapel that was close. "Okay, are you ready?"
"Yeah," you nod. "Actually wait..." You pull out your phone and begin the livestream. "Okay now I'm ready. Say hello, Reg. Archie's on! Hi Archie!"
"Hello," he waved as he fixed his shirt. "Okay, let me take the phone so you can walk. Olay guys, what's happening is that Y/N and I are getting married. We decided that we didn't want to wait any longer." Reggie shows the small chapel room that was dressed in velvet. "Yes, we thought about it and it's what we want to do. We don't know what gonna happen in a month, a week, a day or even an hour. We do know that we want to spend the rest of whatever time we have together spiritually and legally bonded." The chapel allowed you to wear a veil and closed the doors so he wouldn't see you. They gave you a bought of flowers and even a bridesmaid who was standing in as the witness. They fixed your hair and makeup for you. You know it's not traditional in the sense of a wedding, but you didn't care what your parents were gonna say in the moment. All you cared about was getting to the end of the aisle to Reggie. To your fiancé. To your husband. The doors opened and the wedding March began playing over the speaker. The officiant was standing next to Reggie who was holding your phone. He was talking until he saw you. His words cut short by something that was a mixture of a gasp and choke. The witness/ bridesmaid took your phone from him as you stepped in front. "You look great."
"I look the same as I did a few minutes ago?"
"You're always beautiful," he shrugged as the officiant cleared his throat. Reggie wiggled his eyebrows at you when he was told to take your hands. Then you were allowed to say your own short vows. "Y/N, I am not gonna say that from the moment I saw you, I knew I was gonna marry you. We both know that isn't true. But, I will say when I landed you that day in High School... It was the best day of my life and I didn't even know it at the time. Ever since you came into my life there has been so many ups and downs but even in the bad times you taught me to be happy. You taught me how to love and you teach me something every day. God knows how much you love to correct me. I knew I wanted to marry you about three years ago. I didn't know how to do or when. And I had always wanted it to be perfect. So I saved and saved to make it special for you. I didn't realize that we'd be getting married two days after our engagement though."
"I would like everyone at home to know this was your idea," you laugh. "But, I am so happy you thought of it. I know that life isn't easy for us back at home. It's busy and full of crime and drama. When we were in high school, I didn't think we'd be here now. I thought you were going out with me on a date or something... Maybe you were, don't tell me. But, I have loved watching you become more of yourself. Becoming who you are now and I love who you are. I know you see yourself as somewhat of an ass because of the things you've done and said. And, you were an ass. You still are sometimes, but you've grown. You love easier. You're kinder and gentler. You make my life full. I want to spend the rest of my life making sure you're happy. I want to protect you even though I know you are stronger and braver. I'd do anything for you and it's intense but I think that's just how we love. Intensely. I don't know how you put up with me so easily because I know I drive you crazy, but I'm glad you kept doing it and want to continue doing it. I love you more than the moon loves the stars, Reginald Mantle."
"Now, by the power invested in me... I now pronounce you man and wife. Kiss your bride."
"I love you too," he said wrapping your hands around your waist. You didn't realize you were crying but when his face touched yours you could feel it. "Mrs Mantle."
"Mr Mantle," you smile. "You've got mascara on your face." You laugh as you wipe it off. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, husband."
"Well, that started only seconds ago, how does it feel?" He asks. "Should I carry you out like in the movies?"
"No," you laugh. "That's so cliche..." You take your phone back and switch to the front camera. "Mr and Mrs Mantle! Hi everyone! Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Mom, Mrs Mantle, Kevin, Cheryl, Toni, Fangs, Sweet Pea, Josie, and everyone else! Whoever placed their bets better couch you their money to the winner! And, Veronica I told you I'd be married by 23."
"Babe," Reggie took your hand. "We gotta get back to the hotel."
"Right," you nod. "Okay everyone bye! We will be home tomorrow!" You shove your phone into your purse. "I say we go and christen that bed."
"You know I always love how you think," he smirked. "Now, Mrs Mantle is there anything else you need from your day out on the town?"
"Just a night with my husband."
