Fangs, Drew, Fogarty, Snake, Serpent, there were a lot of names for him. Depending on who you were to him, this what you called him. You were licking enough to call him Love. Sometimes you wake up and stare at him thinking to yourself, how could you get someone like him? Someone sweet, someone loyal, someone who would walk through hell for you. How did you get so lucky? Now you were going on vacation with him alone. He was surprising you with the destination. Fangs was surprising you. Which was scary for you, because what if he chose some insane place. Like what if he makes you do a zip line across some cavern or something? Miles and miles above the nice ground?
"You know I wish you would tell me where we are going," you sigh. "I'm terrified."
"Well that's because this is something you can't control," he laughed. "But don't worry. This will be worth it. Now get in the damn car."
"Well not without saying bye first," Toni rolled her eyes. "Have so much fun on your couples retreat. Fangs don't lose her out there."
"I won't," Fangs chuckled. "We do have to go though. I want to get there before the sun goes down." He gave Toni and Sweet Pea a face. "You guys have to go too right?"
"Right," Pea nods. "Jewels needs me to help with that stupid dresser."
"The dresser weighs like thirty pounds. I think you'll be fine," you laugh. "Now, Toni, make sure Pea goes out at least twice a day and he eats. If not he'll get feisty. And Cheryl, you're in charge of making sure they don't do anything stupid."
"As if I have anything better to do," she sighed. "This has become my life."
"Do we have everything?" Fangs asks. "Betty and Jughead are already on their way."
"They're gonna be there?" You ask giving each of your friends one last hug before following to the car. "Who else is gonna be there?"
"Well they aren't going to be there," Fangs chuckled. "But they did get a place not far from it. I couldn't take you to a secluded place without having someone close in case of emergency."
"What kind of emergency?"
"The kind for if you go into a boredom frenzy because I can't keep you occupied the entire time. Or if like one of us happens to get hurt. Which we shouldn't because this isn't that type of trip. But, you know it's nice to have someone nearby. There will be snow though," he explains. "That's why I told you to dress warm."
"Well there's snow here too," you laugh. "So tell me now!"
"No, sit quietly and listen to the relaxing music. Maybe sleep. But, if you keep asking me questions, I am going to turn on the worst kind of music I can find and will make you play stupid road trip games. Im talking I spy and the alphabet game. The whole nine yards."
"Fine..." you sigh looking out the window. "Did you know that the saying the whole nine yards started in World War 2. The American's planes that carried machine guns had 27 feet of chained ammunition. When they shot the same target with all of their bullets, they would say they used the whole nine yards. Fun fact of the day."
"Learn new things every day. Why do you know that?" He chuckled.
"I'm good with weird facts. I remember them better than I remember names or dates," you joke. "But you know that... What was the occasion for this vacation? I told you I just took the vacation time from work because they told me that it doesn't move over into the next year. I was just gonna stay home and watch stupid movies that I've already seen a thousand times."
"One, that sounds sad. Two, why can't I just take my beautiful girlfriend out for a romantic vacation for a few days? We don't ever go away alone. I think we deserve the alone time," he grabbed your hand. "Are you complaining about an all expanse paid vacation?"
"No, but if you bring me out here and things get weird. Toni has my location on hand so don't think about killing me out here. And, I think Toni would rat you out. At least I hope so." Fangs laughs and kisses your hand. "You laugh now, but when I haunt you from beyond I will make sure you live a lonely life."
"You're never allowed to die before me," he shook his head. "I don't know what I would do without you. Not anymore, I've spent the last few years trying to figure you out and I haven't yet and you've become my life's greatest work yet."
"That's sweet."
"Thanks I've been thinking of that line for a while and waiting for a perfect time to say it."
"Of course you have," you giggle. "Do you have a little notebook of one liners?"
"Maybe."
"So, where are we going?" You try.
"Not gonna work," he shook his head. "Read a book or something."
"Ugh fine," you roll your eyes. You sit quietly the rest of the ride. You did end up falling asleep for the second half, which was probably for the best because you were growing bored. Fangs woke you up as he pulled into a long dirt driveway. The sun was beginning to set and was only shining through the trees that now surrounded you. Snow covered the branches and the ground. "You brought me to the woods till kill me, huh? Finally snapped? I get it, just don't make it take too long. And use an icicle, they melt away the evidence."
He laughs, "I'm not gonna kill you... Yet. If we end up stuck out here with no food, I will result in skinning you though."
"How romantic, I wouldn't want it any other way," you laugh. "So how long is this dirt road?"
"It's a driveway," he corrected. "And it's only a little farther. I think you're gonna like it."
"Exactly how far are Jughead and Betty from here?" You ask.
"They're like a few miles down the main road," he explained. "Already tired of me?"
"No, I was just confused when you said they were close," you laugh. "Okay, I'm ready for your romantic surprise. This is an incredibly long driveway though."
"Man, all you do is complain huh?"
"It's a gift."
"Or a curse."
"Rude," you start but finally you see a small cabin at the end of the driveway. The lights were on inside already adding a warm glow to the snow covering it. "You got a cabin?"
"Well, it was the most remote, secluded place we could find," he explains. "Wait until you see the inside."
"Oh, I'm not complaining," you shake your head. "It's pretty." He stops the car and opens his door. "It's colder here."
"Yeah, we're higher up. Come on," he grabs your hand pulling you to the door. He pushes the door open and you follow him through. He lit the fireplace quickly as you took a look around. A bottle of wine was on the counter and a card.
"Welcome to the mountains. We had everything placed as you requested. Complementary wine included. Enjoy your stay. What did you request?" You ask.
"You'll see," he smiled. "Follow me to the bedroom upstairs."
"Already?" You raise a brow.
"Maybe... No, I just want to show you," he said. "Actually, you go upstairs look around and I'll get the bags." He shows you the stairs before going to the car. The upstairs was beautiful. A large bedroom with an even larger window looking over the trees and you could see a snow covered mountain in the distance. The sun was barely peaking over the mountain now. The bed was across the room facing the window and it was covered in massive white pillows. Flowers sat in the middle and another note.
"Each flower represents a year we've made it through together. This year has been the hardest yet with work and outside problems. But, we are still pushing through. Each day you bring a new light into my life that I didn't know I needed. The day we met six or seven years ago in High School, we were entirely separate people. Then almost six years ago, the end of our senior year, I thought I should take a shot. And, I didn't think you'd say yes. But, you did and I honestly can't believe you stuck with me. I can't see my life without you anymore and I'm so glad you said yes to coming out here with me. I want to fill the rest of your life with happiness and love. I can't see myself with anyone else. I love you, Y/N, you're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I know that you are going to great things in your life. I just want to be there with you, cheering you on. Turn around." You frown confused for a moment. When did Fangs have the time to write this? You turn placing the note back on the bed and smelling the flowers.
Fangs was there. Not just Fangs but Fangs on one knee and a ring in his fingers. You swear your breathing stopped. He could probably hear the choke that got stuck in your throat. Your eyes widen as he smiles proudly at his work.
"Y/N, you are probably the most frustrating person I know," he laughs. "And, I'm friends with Sweet Pea. You're beautiful inside and out. And, I cannot imagine anyone else in this world I would want to spend my life with other than you. You helped me with my mom when she got sick. Then again when she relapsed. You play with my little sister and taught her how to be a strong and independent woman. You take care of me. On my good and bad days, you take care of me. When I was shot, and we barely knew each other... You helped me with rehab and my work in school. You gave me a place to stay when I had no where else to go. You see the good side of me through the badness." He sniffed a little and you could see tears brimming his eyes. He swallowed back his own tears, "you are my life, Y/N and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of time with you. So, I got everyone to help me plan this trip and make sure you had no idea. Betty and Toni helped pick the ring out. Betty put everything here together. Shit, I didn't even ask you the question yet. Y/N, please marry me. I will spend the rest of my life filing yours with love and happiness. Together, we can get through anything."
"Oh my god Fangs," you wipe your face. "This is so perfect!" You get on your knees with him. "I am so lucky to have someone like you. You are so strong and I know you will be great in your life. You are the light of my life. And, I can't see anyone else more perfect. I want you to be happy and loved. I want you to feel safe. I want you to know that you are good, you are so good." You grab his face. "You are so, so good Fangs. I know there are things you've done that you don't like, but that isn't who you are. You are kind; you are brave; you are amazing. I cannot... I cannot say enough to you. I never can find the right words to describe how much I love you. There isn't a word invented yet." You try hard to hide the sob in your throat. "I love you."
"Is that a yes?" Fangs laughs through his own strain of tears.
"Of course I'll marry you!" You cry. "You could've just put the ring on my finger and I would have gone with it. I will literally do anything for you, Fogarty."
"I know," he nods sliding the ring on your finger. "But, I need this to be perfect for you. Nothing less."
"I can't believe you all got this planned and I didn't know," you look at your hand. "I love you." You kiss him softly. "God, we are so sappy. Look at how wet your face is."
"Shut up," he rolled his eyes and pulled you into him. "I'd kiss you again, but it was way too wet for my liking. Like a dog." You go to push him away, but he keeps you close. You lay your head on his chest listening to his heart. He pulled you to your feet and walked you to the window. "Isn't it pretty?"
"It's beautiful," you say. "It's perfect really. I cannot wait to become the next Mrs Fogarty and do your mom proud. She's so strong and I want to keep that going."
"Well, she's very excited and can't wait to see you when we get back. Veronica gave me a very long speech when I told her. Honestly, it was terrifying and she reminded me of her mom. But, everyone is so excited. I can't wait to see what you come up with."
"You are helping. I am not planning this alone. Actually, I probably won't even have to plan it. Veronica and Cheryl would love to take control," you both laugh. "Wouldn't that be nice? A surprise wedding."
"If that's what you want," he chuckled and laid his head on top of yours. "Call the girls and I'll get the bottle of wine downstairs." You smile up at him as he kisses you softly on the lips. You hold him for a moment before he finally pulls away and heads down the steps.
The phone rings for less than a second before they all answer, "I can't believe you guys did this!"
"Awe she was crying look!" Veronica shows Archie her phone and he only give an awkward laugh. "Was it nice?"
"It better have been perfect!" Jughead chimed. "We drove out there and it took an hour to set the place up perfectly. We also had to pay for our own place out here."
"Oh yes, Jughead, your novel money is just weeping as you spend money for you and your fiancé to get away for a few days," You laugh. "But it was perfect thank you guys so much. Honestly, I don't think I've been this happy in so long. Or ever. This is the happiest I've ever been."
"We were happy to help," Betty smiled. "I can't believe you're engaged! God, I can't wait to hear everything!"
"Well, long story short," Fangs interrupted. "The plan worked out perfectly. She was reading the note and she turned around. I said some things and she cried. I cried. Now we celebrate with wine."
"We are having one for you too! It's juice of course," Toni showed her own glass. "We are all growing up! Betty and Jughead are engaged. You guys are now. Cheryl and I are married. Veronica and Archie are buying a house. I feel like we were just juniors in high school."
"Oh, Sweetheart," Cheryl chuckled. "That's just hormones. She's been crying since you left."
"That's because my nephew is in there," you laugh. "He's excited too as he should be. Ugh, I can't wait to see him in a little suit."
"Okay guys!" Fangs grabbed the phone. "Just wanted to call and give an update. We have our own celebration to do!"
"Fangs is gonna get laid!" Jughead chuckled.
"Someone should!" Archie finally speaks. Fangs rolls his eyes and ended the call throwing the phone on a chair. He gave you a mischievous look before picking you up and throwing you on the bed.
