You had found yourself lost in the halls of the school you've went to your entire life. People's voices drowned out around you. You had spent the entire night and morning puking up everything you ate and drank. You figured it was the plague but that hadn't reached Riverdale yet, as everyone was vaccinated. Someone had stepped in front of you and you ran straight into them.
"Hey?" He straightened you. "What's wrong?"
"Just a little under the weather? What's up?" You ask leaning against the lockers.
"Just wanted to see if you wanted to come over later, for 'studying'," he smirked as if he word play was sly. "We can grab milkshakes at Pop's after."
"I'd love to, but like I said I don't feel good," you sigh. "I don't know what's up, I think I have the flu."
"Do you you have a fever?" His face went sympathetic as his hand went to your head. "You're not warm... Maybe your fever broke? Why'd you come to school if you weren't feeling well?"
"Didn't want to miss. I think I can make it through the day," you shrug. "Hey, do you want to come over this weekend? If I'm feeling well."
"Sure," he smiled. "You shouldn't be here though. You need to sleep and drink water. You look like you haven't slept all night."
"I can't keep anything down," you say. "But, I'm starving."
"Well, lets go to the lounge," he said wrapping his arm around your shoulders, guiding you to the student lounge. "I'll get you a water." You sat on the cool leather leaning your head back. He handed you the water.
"What's wrong with Y/N?" Jughead asked sitting across. "Did she eat her cooking?" You don't look at him as you threw up your middle finger. "Seriously, you're paler than I am."
"Did you catch the flu?" Betty asked.
"I don't know," you sigh. "I think it's the plague."
"The plague? I'm Riverdale?" Veronica laughs leaning her head on Archie's shoulder. "It wouldn't be the most bizarre thing to happen."
"She doesn't have the plague," Reggie said. "She's just sick."
"Ugh, I'm starving," you groan. "Someone get me something soft to eat."
"Do you want some of my chips?" Jughead asked. "Salt and vinegar."
"I'll try anything," you say taking some and chewing them lightly. "Honestly, if I throw this up, I am just gonna KMS. I love food too much to throw up so much."
"You should see a doctor," Betty said.
"Yeah, maybe I should, thanks Betty," you say as the bell rings loudly throughout the school. "That's our cue." You give Jug back his chips and stand up. Suddenly, you felt extremely weak and the world seems to spin as you fall to the floor.
"Y/N?" Someone catches you quickly before your head hits the floor. The next thing you know you have a ton of students standing over you and teachers shouting to call an ambulance. You are brought to Riverdale General where nurses take tubes of blood and a urine sample to determine what is causing you to be sick and to faint.
"So, you are dehydrated, so we want to connect you to some fluid," one nurse says. "Now, this May hurt, but I'm sure one of your big friends will give you a hand to hold." She eyes the boys. "Right, boys?"
"You can hold my hand," Jughead shrugs. "Don't break it."
"No promises," you say grabbing his hand and closing your eyes as she begins. You feel a prick.
"Shit, Y/N, it's just a needle," Jughead said. "Calm down."
"I'm gonna have to try again, honey," she said. "Your veins are pretty small in your arm, huh?"
"You can hold my hand," Reggie pushed the smaller kid out of the way. "So, what are we going to study Friday?"
"We have that math test coming up next week and I am positive you have no idea what is going on in that, but neither do I. So, we can figure it out then. And then we have to prep for the SAT and ACT tests coming up in December. And, I still have to help you with your Essay."
"Oh right," he nods. "I still have to write that. I forgot about it." You roll your eyes. "What? We've been studying for tests the last three sessions and the last one you were going over my test from Mr Seamer. When do you expect me to write it?"
"In your free time?" You say. "You realize that you need to have at least three pages done in two days right? And, you're here and not at school. When are you going to get it done?"
"I'm all done here," the nurse smiled. "Good job, son."
He smiled cockily, "my essay is finished. I told you it was a week ago."
"I forgot," you say. "God, I hate getting an IV and blood work."
"You did great," Betty said. "Hopefully they find out soon."
"Hope so," you say. "I wish they would've given me something for my stomach though."
"We can ask," V says. "No harm in asking."
"I don't want to be too much work," you say.
"You are practically dry heaving every time you breath out," Archie explains. "I think it's alright."
"You call," you say holding the remote out and Veronica presses the call button.
"Hi," a male nurse comes in. "What can I help you with?"
"Is there anything she can have for her nausea? She hasn't been able to keep anything down, and she thinks she's going to be nauseous again," Veronica explains.
"Let me see what I can do," he goes to the computer. "Alright. They are ruling out any infections and pregnancy in the lab. So, let me just give you doxylamine." You nod as he leaves the room.
"So, you don't have an infection and you aren't pregnant?" Reggie asks confused.
"Just wait for the results," Jughead shrugs. "You aren't pregnant are you?"
"I shouldn't be," you furrow your brows. "Should I?"
"We can't answer that," Veronica laughs. "Have you been sexually active?"
The nurse comes back in handing you a tablet and a small cup of water, "take these and a doctor should be in shortly." You thank him taking it quickly.
"You can't get out the question just like that," Archie chuckles. "Is there someone you want to tell us about? We know you've been leaving and meeting with someone for the last four months, after tutoring Reggie."
"What?" You say.
"You tutor Reggie from 3-6. You don't get home until 10 at least," Jughead explains. "Are you taking the extremely long way home, or selling drugs? Because if not you're meeting someone."
"You guys keep track of the time I get home? Why?" You ask looking at the four of them. "I'm a big girl."
"We know," Betty said. "And, we just want to make sure you aren't in trouble. You know, with everything going on in our town."
"I'm fine," you laugh. "Really, ask Reggie. He knows that I'm not seeing anyone behind your backs."
"Yeah. Sometimes she just stays later because I'm that stupid," Reggie shrugs. "I really don't get math."
"You don't have to lie," Veronica said. "We love you."
"And we know," Betty spits out and the other three look at her. "I'm sorry. I just am tired of all of the sneaking around. We don't like your choice, but we accept that you have been going out to meet with Chuck." You choke on the air you're breathing in. "You don't have to hide anymore."
"Sure," Jughead nods. "You see something we don't. The guys a big douche, but you obviously like him."
"She's not seeing Chuck," Reggie laughs. "I mean come on, she hates the guy."
"That's just a front," Archie shrugs. "We know she's seeing a football player. She came home in a bulldogs shirt the other night, I seen her sneaking into her house. The other players have girlfriends and the only few who don't are Chuck, Monroe, and you Reggie. I know, it's not Monroe, because he's been at the gym and my place. The shirt is from freshman year, so that rules him out as well."
"Did you fucking break into her house to look at the shirt? That's seriously weird," Reggie said.
"Well is it you?" Veronica asked crossing her arms.
"Maybe it is. What would it matter?" Reggie asked. "She can make her own decisions. She doesn't need someone making them for her or correcting them."
"It wouldn't make sense," Archie said. "Chuck already said it was, remember?"
"He what?"
"I believe his words were, 'hell fucking yeah I'm boning her. Wouldn't be surprised if the entire team was. She's hot. Tell her to call me later. I've got her laced panties in my car.'"
"He said that?" Reggie sat up. "When?"
"I'll kill him," Reggie said. "Honestly."
"I'm not fucking boning Chuck. Okay," you snap. "I would never. He is disgusting and trash. I have been going out with Reggie. Alright. We have been secretly going out for a few months now."
"You've been boning Reggie?" Betty asks.
"We aren't just boning," Reggie rolled his eyes.
"Then what is it?" Veronica asks.
"Yeah? What is it?"
"I think... I think I love her," Reggie said. "And, I hadn't even said that to her yet. So."
"You love me? Since when? Why?" You ask confused. "I didn't know you felt like that."
"Yeah," Reggie said. "I do. I wanted to tell you for so long"
"How long?"
"Before the party."
"That's how long this has been going on?" Veronica asks. "You're the friend?"
"Yeah."
"Excuse me, Miss Y/L/N," a Doctor comes in. "We've gotten your results back. Is it alright to discuss them in front of all of them?"
"Yes," you say. "They're fine to be in here. Is it bad?"
"Well, you're pregnant," she says. "Which seems to be why you've been so sick. Your blood sugar was low and you were dehydrated. Your chart says you've been unable to keep down anything. Has your nausea subsided?"
"Yes."
"Good, are you prone to migraines?" She asks.
"I'm not sure," you say. "Why?"
"Well, some people who are prone to migraines tend to get a worst case of morning sickness. Now, morning sickness does not need to be in the morning. It can be whenever. This will explain why you've been sick. Now, I am going to prescribe you some prenatal vitamins, something for your nausea, and some vitamins. I want you to have a less stressful load alright? And drink plenty of fluids. Here are some pamphlets and some great OBGYN's in the area. Which one of you can help her keep track of taking her medications? The nausea medicine may make you drowsy so take it at night with your second dose of Vitamin B6. Take your prenatals in the beginning of each day. If you experience any excessive bleeding, pain, or anything that doesn't seem right you come right here. Alright?" You nod.
"Doctor... Are we a hundred percent on her being pregnant? It isn't just a bug?" Veronica asks.
"We tested both her urine and her blood. We would need an ultrasound to determine how far along she is," the doctor explains. "Now, before you go I will be getting an ultrasound for you. Only, two can go in with her though."
"Thank you Doctor," Betty said with a smile. You sat silently, letting all of the information finally sink in. You hadn't noticed you weren't breathing until you starting seeing spots in your eyes. "Y/N?"
"I need a minute," you say quietly.
"It will be okay," Veronica said. "There are still options."
"Yeah, we are here for you no matter what," Jughead says gently. "No matter what you want."
"Will you please stop," you snap. "I just need a damn minute to think. Please." Tears well in your eyes and you bury your face in the pillow, shaking.
"Sh." Betty sits next to you rubbing your back. "It will be okay. I know it's scary right now and you don't know what's going on. Just take deep breaths." You didn't even notice that Reggie hadn't said a word the entire time.
"Reg?" Archie said quietly. "Are you okay?" Silence and you sob harder as the sound of the curtain opening and closing.
Archie followed Reggie out of the emergency department to the empty hall and watched the kid he knew to be strong fall apart. "Reggie."
"What the hell am I gonna do man? I can't be a dad. Have you seen mine? I'm gonna turn out just like him."
"No you won't," Archie said. "You are better than your dad, Reg. You care about people and you actually care about what kind of father you might be. You are already ten times the man your father is."
"Reginald," Veronica comes out. "What the hell is wrong with you? Do you realize that you are part of the reason this happening to her? You just told her you love her, and now you're out here while she is falling apart! You don't get to do that. This is your deal too. You need to get your ass in there and be there for her. No matter what she chooses. Do you understand? She is scared and she needs you to be there for her. And, if you try pulling some stupid shit, I will tear you apart. My Prada heels are made for more than walking."
"Ronnie," Archie sighs. "He's allowed to be scared too. I understand it's her body and she's carrying the baby. But, he's the father."
"I didn't say he wasn't allowed to be scared," Veronica snaps. "I am telling him to go in there and discuss it with her. Because it is her body and the options will all put a great deal of stress on her. Adoption, will rip her heart out and she will love with it for the rest of her life. Abortion, will rip her heart out and then fuck up her body as she tries to deal with the emotional trauma. Not to mention the side effects of abortion. And, if she decides she wants to keep the baby. The future for her is completely changed."
"She's thinking of abortion?" Reggie asked.
"Probably! She's eighteen years old!" Veronica said. "Depending on ow far, she might not be able to get a medical abortion. She may have to get a surgical. Which, is awful. I took a friend to one..."
"Just go talk to her," Archie cuts his girlfriend off. "I'm sure you guys will be fine. You love her right?"
"I mean yeah," Reggie said. "She's smart and funny. And, she makes me feel like something more than a douche with a body."
"Then go talk to her," Veronica and Archie said. "Now." Reggie got up and went back into the room. Betty was running her fingers through your hair and Jughead was sitting silently in the chair next to the bed.
"Alright, are we ready for your ultrasound?" The nurse from before asks. "Who is coming back with you?"
You say nothing as Reggie lifts his hand, "I am."
"Alright, anyone else?" She asks and you look at your two girl friends.
"B, you should go," Veronica says with a smile. "Your her first Bulldog friend."
"Are you sure?" Betty asked and you nod.
"Let's get going then." Two transport guys came in and began pushing the bed through the hall of the hospital.
"You know Sweet Pea is going to kill him, right?" Jughead looks at his friends. "Like, he might actually come up dead."
"Well, that's on them," Veronica said. "What can we do? They had sex. This is why we use condoms and birth control Archie. I don't care if you don't like them. I cannot deal with a pregnancy with the rest of the drama in my life."
"You could get a vasectomy," Jughead shrugs. "They're reversible."
"I might invest in that," Archie said.
They rolled you down the hall into a darker room with screens and other things. Betty and Reggie stood back as they got you ready. "You can sit in those chairs, I am the ultrasound technician. You are?"
"Y/F/N," you say. "This is my friend Betty and this is Reggie."
"Well hello," she said. "Now, this is going to be cold and is this your first ultrasound for your pregnancy?" You nod. "These are always the most stressful and the most emotional ones. Are you the father?" She looks at Reggie and he nods. "Okay. Do we know the last mensuration date?" You shake your head. "Okay, that's fine. I can do a measurement and I will be able to tell you in just a few moments. Do you have any questions before we begin?"
"Is this the wand up your..."
She laughs lightly, "it is. It will just feel like pressure in your abdomen. This will help us determine the progression of your pregnancy. It will be easier to detect. But, if you wish we can try an abdomen ultrasound first. If you believe that you may be over 12 weeks."
"Can we just do that?"
"Of course," she said. "I am going to dim the lights and this might feel a little cold on your skin but it will warm up. Now I am going to do a little moving and you can watch here." She points on the screen and begins moving the probe like device. A sound starts and she stops. "That is your baby's heart beat. Everything seems good so far." She moves around the area. "Now, this is your baby." She points to a small blob on the screen. It's next to a similar. "Hmm."
"Is something wrong?"
"Do twins run in either of your families?" She asks. "Or triplets?"
"I think my great aunt had a set of twins and I am a twin," you say. "She lives in Tennessee."
"My moms a twin," Reggie said. "Why?"
"It seems that you are going to be having two babies," she points to the screen. "There is one and there is two." She gestures. You feel like you are gonna pass out again. "Everything seems perfectly normal. And, judging on size you are at about eight to ten weeks. Which is roughly two months. You hadn't noticed any unusual signs?"
"I live in the Southside. I have stress in my life constantly because my older brother is over protective. I thought I was just over worked," you say. "I thought I had the flu."
"Well, I will give you a second," she said getting up.
"Twins," Betty laughed. "What is it with twins in Riverdale?"
"Genetics." You and Reggie say.
"I know it's not my place, but you are almost to the point where abortion isn't an option. So, I think you should take a few days to comprehend the information and make up your minds," Betty says. "If you need anything though, remember that I am here. My moms here. Jug, Arch, and V are here. Your brother will slowly get over it. It might take him a few months but."
"Thanks Betts," you say with a smile. "Can you give us a second?" She nods and leaves the room and you look at Reggie. "What are you thinking? No sugar coating it."
"I don't sugar coat. You know that," Reggie says. "I am thinking that two babies is a lot. But, the decision is up to you. I will stand with you no matter what. I will drive you to every appointment. Or to the only appointment. I will get a job to pay for stuff. I will get a car that holds two car seats. We can rent a place from Veronica. But, I'm standing by you babe. Like I said, I love you."
"Do you actually mean that?" You ask taking his hand. "Because if you don't you can tell me. I don't know what I want to do. I don't know. So whatever you're thinking. It might help me make a decision."
"Just think about it," Reggie says calmly. "We'd have some dope kids. Even if we don't actually keep them."
You laugh, "yeah as long as they don't inherit that angry attitude from you."
"Well, I think that's irrelevant because you have it too," Reggie said. "But, I'd be down if they had your eyes."
"You'd be down? So, you're not now?"
"That didn't come out the way I'd thought it would. I meant. If they had your eyes, it would be even better then it already is," he said.
"Right," you tease. "You know... We have to tell Sweet Pea."
"Can that wait... A few days? Until we've made the decision at least?" He asks. "Because, I need time to prepare myself."
"Oh yeah... Just let me know when you're ready. It's not like the human growing inside me is doing anything," you say sarcastically.
"You never said you loved me back," he said.
"What?"
"I said that I love you. And you didn't say it back... Now I am not pressuring you into it or anything. If you feel it now or later or never. I mean you better eventually fall for me. I'm a charming guy. But, you say it whenever. I just want to know, how do you feel about me now?" He asked.
"In this moment... I am scared for you. Because, this is happening. Your dad. Sweet Pea. School. I don't want you to leave," you said.
"I'm not leaving."
"And, you know when to say the right things. Reg, I love you too," you say. "And, whatever happens... Promise that you won't get angry with me and..."
"I'm not like your parents," he whispered. "And neither are you. You're the light in all of the shit that goes on here. You always know when to do the right thing. And you don't drink often. You are already ten times the people your parents are. And, I promise I am going to work on becoming someone who deserves you; and you deserve."
"Wise words. Where did you hear that from?" You ask.
"Archie," Reggie chuckled. "Weird right?"
"I didn't know he could speak like that," you laugh with him. "Now, I guess we should call the doctor back in."
