"Mischief managed!" -Words one must say to disguise the Marauder's Map
...
It was getting quite dark, and so I rushed quickly to Gryffindor Tower. As I was turning around a corridor, Mrs.Norris appeared, with her wide lamp-like eyes. Meowing, she ran off, undoubtedly going to find Filch.
"Oh no." I breathed. Searching around frantically for somewhere to hide, I dive into an empty room.
At least I thought it was empty.
I soon realized that there were voices whispering in a separate room, connected to the dark one I was in now. I breathe heavily, sincerely hoping Filch wouldn't come inside.
"Yes, if we get any information about it.. Yes, that would be best." I hear someone say dismally. Curious, I slowly walk over to the door and put my ear to the hole, trying my best to eavesdrop.
"Certainly.. If he's found anywhere near..."
"Yes.. he might come to attack... I daresay he shouldn't be able to get past the gates... or near the castle at all.." I hear someone say, someone I recognized as Professor Forctis.
"We'll be okay, and so will the students. He wouldn't dare come to Hogwarts." Professor Longbottom said, sighing.
"Well.. you can't always be sure with people like him.." Vita says unsurely.
"True. Dolohov may just come, but I don't think it will be possible to get past the enchantments." Professor Stone says proudly. "They are very strong... any trespassers will leave with at least a few broken bones, if not teared apart completely, they'll be stunned at least until we can take care of them."
I gasp. Dolohov?! They were talking about Dolohov?!
"What was that?" Professor McGongagall asks. I hear footsteps approaching the door, and I quickly scamper, slipping out of room efficiently. As I run stealthily through the castle and up to Gryffindor Tower, I think about the conversation between the Professors.
Was what they said true? Could Dolohov actually come to Hogwarts? My mind racing, I numbly say the password to the Fat Lady, and enter through the portrait hole, even more confused than I was before I overheard the teacher's conversation.
I expect the common room to be completely deserted, but once again, I was wrong. Instead, I see a figure disappear right in front of my eyes.
I gasp loudly. "What-? How-? Who.. hey!" I say, running toward where I saw the person disappear.
"Ow!" I squeal. Out of nowhere, I'd toppled over something!
Actually...
It was someone.
I hear a groan underneath me. "Oww.. come on, Love. If you were that happy to see me, you could've greeted me like a normal person, y'know."
For the third time that night, I gasped. I knew that voice... it was the voice that was always pestering me..
"James?!" I say, jumping off of him.
Suddenly, his head appears, then out of thin air, his whole body does, messy dark hair, crooked grin, shiny hazel eyes, robes, cloak, and all.
"How?" I breathe, staring at him with wonder.
James sighed, and then..
"Your face-" He broke into a long fit of laughter.
My cheeks burned red, and I scowled. "Oh stop it! You'll wake the whole House!"
Potter's giggles gradually receded, and he looked at me in a strange way that I couldn't pin-point.
