"Yer ticket for Hogwarts," he said, "First o' September- King's Cross-" -Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
...
"Bye, Hagrid!" I shouted, boarding the Hogwarts Express, waving.
He waved back, and I stepped inside, the train crowded. I squeezed through a compartment door to find Scorpius and Al.
"Hey," I smile, sitting down.
"Hi, we were just talking about how we should meet up over the summer!" Albus said excitedly. "I'll invite you two to my house, we'll have loads of fun.."
"Sounds great!" I grin.
Scorpius hesitated, then, "Well.. I'll have to ask my parents, but I'll owl you if I can come," He said.
"Alright then. You'll love my backyard, Airana, it's perfect for Quidditch-" Al started to say,
"Hullooo," The compartment door slid open to reveal round spectacles and hazel eyes, and a grin. He plopped down next to me, and said, "What have I interrupted?"
"Only our conversation," I rolled my eyes.
I could see Scorpius and Al exchanging glances, smiling and shaking their heads.
We continued to talk for a while, James being his annoying self, when there was a knock on the door. I stood up, confused, and slid it open.
"H- hi..."
Rose Weasley, red hair and nervous smile. I stared at her, bewildered.
"Er- could- could I... talk to you and Albus please?"
"Sure.." I looked at Al who stood up and stepped out of the compartment with Rose. With a shrug to Scorpius, I stepped out as well.
Rose inhaled sharply, then, "Al I'm sorry I've ignored you this year... I didn't like the fact that you were in Slytherin, and that you hung out with Malfoy.. But- but I realized that your.. You're still you, that you're not evil at all, so neither would all Slytherins be. I'm really sorry- if.. If you find it in yourself to forgive me for our first train ride and what I've said this year..." She trailed off, frowning.
But before Al could open his mouth, "Rose."
She looks at me, and I say sternly, "Slytherins are cunning, not rude. They are ambitious, not evil. They're resourceful, not greedy. You understand that now, yeah?"
"Yes..."
"Well then," I said, suddenly smiling, "That's brilliant and sorted out, I'm sure Al feels the same.." I look over at him-
"Of course. I missed your boring conversations, Rosie." Al says.
"Rosie huh?" I raise my eyes, laughing. "Nice nickname Weasley. Come on Rose, I know Scorpius will forgive you too. He's nice in that way."
And so we went into the compartment, a group of friends being children. As I bickered with James, teased Scorpius and Albus, and chatted happily with Rose, I knew all was well, and would be.
---
A while later, we had the whole compartment filled with sweets and laughs. James and Scorpius did a sword fight with their wands, resulting in James eyebrows being signed off.
Rose and I played wizards chess, Al joining in the sword fight.
"Boys are so childish," Rose said, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Indeed they are," I say, sighing and smirking, "But we're still friends with them, aren't we?"
"Yeah, to make sure they don't blow something up," Rose giggled.
"Exactly."
Chuckling, we kept talking, the hills rolling by, in the window, the sun setting peacefully.
---
The year had gone by so fast that I didn't really believe it was over, until the Hogwarts Express stopped at Platform 9 ¾. In a matter of minutes, I was back onto the platform that had gotten me there.
"Mum! Dad!" I smiled, running over to my parents. I saw Al and Scorpius doing the same, but James, before going, shouted toward me:
"Playing Chaser next year, Rosher? Grifiths will be gone, there'll be a spot open!"
"Of course, Gryffindor certainly needs better players than you," I shouted back, laughing.
James grinned. "TIL' NEXT YEAR THEN LOVE!"
"Til' next year," I nodded to him, then turned to Scorpius and Al, and Rose, giving them a cheerful wave, (Which they returned) I walked out of the platform, my parents by my side, asking questions, as distant voice sang loudly,
"And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again,
We've come a long way from where we began.."
I shook my head, grinning, recognizing the voice, and closed my eyes as I walked back to the station, through the barrier, closed my eyes, ready for the new adventures to come.
