When I come to, I felt uncomfortable. I tasted blood and my arm hurt. My ears were ringing. According to Friday, my lip was busted, and I was going to get a nasty bruise on my arm. I opened my eyes slowly and just saw rubble. I was surrounded by a dim purple light. I smile slightly, knowing I had helped myself. I move my uninjured arm and struggle to get my mask off to help me breath better. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing. My body tingled, assumingly from the energy surrounding me. A building just collapsed and I'm not dead. Parker. Right, I wasn't alone.
'Parker!' I call out. I wait a second with no reply. 'If you're not dead Spidey, I would appreciate a sound.'
'I'm fine!' came his voice. It sounded far away. 'I got out from the rubble! I don't know where you are, Maya! You're going to have to move the rocks!'
I take a deep breath. He owes me. I put my hands up, wincing. I close my eyes and urge a lot of energy to surge from my hands. The rock was big and heavy, and my mind was still foggy. I let out a short, pained scream, and managed to get the rock thrown to the side. I lay still for a second, dropping my hands and taking a deep breath. I stare at the sky and then stumble up. Parker shows up at my side.
'Are you okay?' he asked as I wipe blood off my chin. My lip was bleeding pretty bad.
'I'm fine. You alright?' he nods. 'Come on.'
Suit guy was perched on top of a stripped billboard. I throw my mask back on, wincing slightly. The cut on my side was still bleeding but it didn't seem deep.
'The purple will draw attention,' Parker said.
'I can't just turn the purple off, Webs. What do you expect me—' Suit guy spread his wings and Parker grabs me around the waist and shoots a web, swinging us both onto the billboard. He missed suit guy by a second and I hold back a screech, very unhappy with the close proximity. He quickly shoots a web at the suit, and I wrap my arms around Parker's neck as the only way to stay in the sky. I'm going to kill him, I thought. Swinging from a single web on the back of a villain is a lot different than flying. And being as high up as a plane was never something I wanted to do.
Suit guy goes to the bottom of the plane and holds on as Parker and I bump into it a few times. I steady myself with my powers, realizing I wouldn't be much help up here. Parker got a grip on the plane. I watch the wing suit wrap around the guy like a shell. The two of us go to follow, when Parker loses his grip. I somehow manage to keep him from going too far, till he gets his grip and I'm able keep myself up in the sky.
We move towards the wing suit and both try to open it. Then a small drone is launched from the wing suit, scaring the both of us. We still struggle to move the suit as I fight against the wind to stay in the air. This was dangerous. Parker gets a good kick in, moving the suit slightly. The wing suit flies backward, knocking me back slightly with the wind. Parker climbs up the side of the plane as I follow, while slightly having trouble staying afloat.
'Just a typical homecoming on the outside of an invisible jet,' Parker said, more to himself. 'Fighting my girlfriend's dad.'
The suit comes at us and I fly up quickly as it takes out the panels right above where our heads were. Parker shoots a web at the guy, along with one at the plane. He is now suspended in the air, one hand holding the web to the plane, the other one holding the web to the suit. Almost immediately the web snaps and Parker gets sucked in towards a perpellor, along with Liz's dad. I fly down there to see Parker in the propeller, having stopped it with his webs. I wasn't any help up here, I could barely keep myself up.
'I can't believe that worked,' Parker said.
Then the propeller falls off. He shoots a web at the plane and manages to hang on. I kick the propeller down.
'Parker I'm no help up here!' I say over the wind. I should invest in like sticky shoes or something. Liz's dad comes towards us and I have to fly up in order to stay in the air. If I go any higher, I won't be able to breath easily enough. The engine catches on fire as Parker hangs from the side with a thin string of web. I see him break open the ceiling of the plane and it starts to fall.
'Shit,' I mumble to myself. I fly back down and land as close to Parker as I can. 'Parker! Stick my foot to the plane!' He does and I'm slightly surprised that he heard me. He also shoots a web at the right wing, in attempt to change the direction of the plane. I look straight and see we were heading straight for Coney island.
'How dangerous will it be to try and limit the impact? Do I have enough power?' I ask Friday as I start to build up a force field, starting at the front.
'For yourself, very,' she said. 'You will probably strain yourself. You won't have a lot of energy left. You'd be totally drained.
'Great,' I muttered.
I grit my teeth, knowing this was going to be bad for me. I focus all my energy on the force field around the plane. I close my eyes as we near the beach. I let out a muffled scream as we crash into the ground.
