Chapter 122: Peter Parker is Spider-Man

I wait in the city for Peter. He was apparently talking to Happy and May about their relationship status. I did not want to be there for that.

Spidey: On my way :) 2 min

Me: Don't text and swing, dork!

I shake my head as I keep walking to where we were going to meet. As I get there Peter spins around a street pole and lands right in front of me.

'That was the most dramatic thing, ever,' I say.

'Oh, leave me alone.'

I smirk. 'Race ya.'

I click my ring and take off into the sky. I hear Peter yell something after me before I see him swinging below me. I lower myself a little, so we are side by side, me still a little ahead of him. He never wins. After a while we land in Madison Square Garden.

'I won,' I said.

'You did not! It was a tie,' Peter said.

I roll my eyes. 'That's what loser's say.'

'This is breaking news,' I reporter says on a screen in Madison square. 'We come to you now with revelations about last week's attack in London.' Peter and I share a look. 'An anonymous source provided this video, it shows Quentin Beck, a.k.a, Mysterio, moments before his death. A warning, you may find this video disturbing.'

Beck comes on the screen. He's on the Tower Bridge and I can tell this is right before he died. Shit.

'I managed to send the Elemental back into the dimensional rift, but I don't think I'm gonna make it off this bridge alive. Spider-Man attacked me for some reason. He had an army of weaponized drones, Stark technology. Maya Stark, or the Shadow, is with him. He's saying he's the only one who's gonna be the new Iron Man, no one else. Not even Maya Stark, Tony Stark's heir.'

We're shown Beck's death, but his super suit was added. This never happened.

'Are you sure you want to commence the drone attack? There will be significant casualties,' came EDITHS voice.

'Do it! Execute them all,' Peter's voice said.

Peter grips my hand, and we look at each other as we hear people scream and drones firing.

'This shocking video was released earlier today on the controversial news website, "TheDailyBugle.net".' the news reporter said.

The screen cuts to J. Jonah. Jameson and I roll my eyes.

'There you have it folks: conclusive proof that Spider-Man was responsible for the brutal murder of Mysterio! An inter-dimensional warrior who gave his life to protect our planet, and who will no doubt go down in history as the greatest superhero of all time.'

'Shit,' I mutter. That's exactly what he wanted.

'But that's not all, folks. Here's the real blockbuster. Brace yourselves, you might wanna sit down.'

It cuts back to Beck. 'Spider-man's real... Spider-Man's real name is...' The video cuts out and Peter's grip on my hand tightens. 'Spider-Man's name is Peter Parker.' It cuts to a school picture of Peter.
