Chapter 121: Home sweet home

Walking through the door I was very quickly over-taken by a small person. As soon as I closed the door Morgan was running towards me. I smile as she basically jumps on me. I catch her, ignoring the pain in my arm, and lift her up. I spin her in a hug making her laugh. I set her down and she smiles brightly at me.

'Hey, kid,' I said. 'Miss me?'

'Yeah,' Morgan said. 'Mommy didn't let me in the garage when you were gone.' She pouted slightly as Pepper come into view.

I knelt down. 'Tell you what? The second I settle back in we'll go out and I'll teach you more things. You already know more then I did at this age. You've got plenty of time, kid. Don't try and grow up so fast.'

'Exactly,' Pepper said.

'Go play for an hour or so and then I'll come get you and we can go to the lab.'

Morgan nodded, excited, and ran off. She had been keeping me company while I make the suits and try to recreate the ring. Asking me questions and helping me. She's a genius just like dad. It made me happy I could teach her all of the thing's dad taught me at her age and more.

'Looks like I have two geniuses to watch over,' Pepper said, smiling at me.

I smiled back. 'Did Happy tell you about—'

'Yeah,' she said, and my smile dropped a little. 'I'm just glad your safe, Maya.'

I nod and she pulls me into a hug. I burry my head in her neck trying not to cry. Pepper was always there for me. She was another constant. I just needed to be reminded.

'So, you and Peter?' she said pulling away.

I roll my eyes. 'Yes, me and Parker. Let's not make it into a thing.'

'Okay, okay,' she said. 'Go teach Morgan some electronic shit so she'll stop trying to get me teach her.'

I laugh and nod. This was my family. It might not be whole anymore but it's mine. And I will protect them with my life.
