It wasn't terrible on the plane with Brad. It was an eight hour and forty-nine-minute flight to Venice, Italy. We watched a couple movies, and I didn't hate it. I did, however, feel bad for Peter. He got stuck next to Mr. Harrington. I mean, it's his own fault but still. I talked with Brad and MJ as we walked through the airport. We were in line for security, and I saw Ned and Peter talking a little way away.
'Uh, I'll be right back,' I said. 'I need to ask Parker something.'
I get closer to them when I hear Betty call out, 'Babe,' and see Ned go over to her. I falter slightly as I get to Peter.
'Did she just say-'
'Babe? Yeah,' Peter said. 'Apparently they're like a thing now or something.'
I cross my arms and nod. 'Of course. Why wouldn't they be?'
'Did you need something?' he asks.
'I don't even remember,' I said. 'The whole Betty and Ned thing really threw me off.' Peter laughs slightly.
'Maya!' MJ calls over to me. I look back at her and she motions for me to hurry. Brad smiles at me. I resist rolling my eyes.
'I'll see you in Italy?' I ask, starting to walk back.
'Y-yeah,' Peter said. 'Of course.'
I turn but then I got an idea and turn back around. 'Oh, and, uh, I hope you get that perfume allergy under control.'
I smile at him as I turn back around and jog back to MJ and Brad. I glance back to see him with a dumb found expression and a little smile. I smile wider as I look back to the other two.
'What'd you say to him?' Brad asks, crossing his arms.
'Nothing,' I shrug. 'That's just his face.'
MJ smirks. 'She's right. His face always makes him look confused. Especially when it comes to Maya.'
I glare at her as we make our way up the line. After we all finally got out of the airport, Peter being pulled away for them to search his luggage which I enjoyed greatly, the class took a boat through the Grand Canal in Venice. I sat on the ledge of the boat, Brad across from me and MJ next to me. I was getting tired of Brad always being there. A bunch of people were taking pictures and I was looking around. It was beautiful but I was used to traveling. Dad traveled whenever he could, and I always went with him. I tried to ignore the feeling that someone was looking at me, knowing who it was. Peter doesn't know about the new powers I found with Sam. That wouldn't be fun, and I wouldn't have the upper hand. Besides, he was the one that kept looking at me.
The boat eventually pulls up to a very dingy-looking hotel. With scaffolding covered the front, the sign itself was barley even hugging anymore.
'Looks like we're here,' Mr. Harrington said. 'They're doing some renovations to the place. Getting some upgrades.'
I roll my eyes at his attempt to make it seem better than it was. Walking into the building its just as bad as outside. There was water on the ground, a cat on a table, and nothing felt totally even.
'Okay everybody,' Mr. Dell said. 'Drop your bags off and we're gonna meet at the Da Cinci museum at 3. Let's go!'
