Chapter 54: Super Soldiers

I followed behind Sam as Bucky jumped up on the doors of one of the trucks and opened it.

'They're stealing medicine,' Bucky said over comms. 'Vaccines... Hi.'

'Bucky talk to me. What's going on?' Sam asked.

'Found the hostage,' Bucky mumbled.

I watched rather amusingly as Bucky comes flying out of the truck, right into the one in front of it. It was three against one on top of the trucks and Bucky was held by two. I wait as Sam sends in Redwing, but the girl, who we assumed was a hostage, jumped up, grabbed him, and snapped him in half. Suddenly I was very concerned. I fly in behind Sam who lands and immediately starts fighting the girl. I went to the other truck where two new guys had appeared. As soon as I landed, they both charged.

The guy on my right swung, and I quickly use my left arm to block the punch. This was proven to be a bad idea. His fist came into contact with my arm and a searing pain shot up it. Before I had time to react, his other fist connected with my cheek and I let out a small scream. The guy on my left moved forward and grabbed my arms, pinning them to my back, making my left arm hurt worse. I grit my teeth as the first guy comes up. They were strong, stronger than I thought they'd be. I can't use hand-to-hand combat with them. I know that now. The guy brought his fist back, planning to punch me. Before he could, Steve's shield came flying out of nowhere, hitting him in the head. A helicopter was now overhead, and Walker jumps down.

I lock my jaw, ignoring the pain in my face and arm. I straighten my hands and blast the man holding me down backwards, freeing my arms. Sam was on the truck, fighting a third man off. I try to catch my breath and push down the fast-spreading soreness already forming in my cheek and arm. Next to me, I could see Walker fighting the girl, until she's dangling off the truck. I was out of the game way too long and I wasn't used to this anymore. I straighten up as Sam comes over to me and another guy comes down from the helicopter next to Walker.

'Are you okay?' Sam asks, looking at my cheek.

My hand briefly touches my cheek and I wince. It was already bruised. I nod over at Sam as my eyes land to Walker and the random man next to him.

'Sam, Maya,' Walker said, waving. 'John Walker, Captain America.'

'Lemar Hoskins,' the other guy said. Energy swirls around my hands as I resist the urge to push them off the truck.

'Looks like you could use some help,' Walker said.

I almost lifted my hand to do just that when the other four guys appeared. I took the two on the right and Sam took the two on the left. I could feel my power eating on my anger. One of the guys surged towards me and I catch his right fist with energy, shoving him back with my left. He fell and clutched onto the side of the truck. The second guy moves towards me and tries to punch me, and again, I catch his fist with energy. He keeps trying to push and I had to use both hands. It reminded me of training with Steve. He was the one I had most trouble fighting, excluding Wanda. Bucky jumped over to our truck and helped me out by punching the guy. We were in the middle of the truck and Sam was struggling with his guys. Sam turned just in time for one of his wings to hit a guy coming towards us and Bucky. The two flew into the other truck, both barely hanging onto the side. Bucky loses his grip and slides down the truck, grabbing onto a pole at the bottom, and using his metal hand to prevent himself from falling onto the road.

'Maya, fly!' Sam screamed before I could help.

I look over to see a sign coming at us at rapid speeds. I quickly shoot into the sky and watch one of the guys smash right through it and knock Sam off the truck with a hefty punch. Sam quickly extends his wings, and he flies back slightly. I flew above the trucks as Sam tried to reach Bucky. The driver of the one on the left moved closer to the other so that Sam couldn't. He quickly moved to the other side of the truck so he could at least talk with Bucky. I moved down to where Sam was.

'That little girl kicked your ass!' Sam said.

Bucky yelled, err, screamed, I guess. He seemed upset. Sam folded his wings, and he flew under the truck, grabbing Bucky and flying under the other truck. I fly up and follow the direction the idiots would have went. When I land at the grassy area the two so gracefully landed, Bucky was on top of Sam. I smirk.

'Aww, look how cute,' I said. Sam pushed Bucky off and they laid there for a second.

'Those were all Super Soldiers,' Bucky said.

'I know,' said Sam. 'You're welcome by the way.'

I roll my eyes and I roll my shoulder, trying to work it out. My cheek had started throbbing.

'Come on, children,' I said. 'Up, up. We have a long walk.'
