Demi's POV

It's been about a week since Jay and I made things official and it's been amazing so far. We've only hung out once after that because he was super busy with signing final contracts before his trade to Oakland was announced. He's also been looking at apartments and working with a few people back in the Netherlands to get all his stuff moved out here without him having to leave. Today, I'm taking Mayla to the pumpkin patch though and I'm super excited. I've always loved Halloween, but now that I have a daughter, I'm even more excited because I get to show her all the amazing things about it. Last year, she was still young and didn't understand, but that didn't mean I didn't dress her up. She understands more this year and I've been teaching her to say 'trick or treat' so she knows when we go trick or treating. I'm going to take her through my neighborhood since it's small and there's a lot of other kids here.

"You excited to get pumpkins today?" I ask Mayla as I pull her shirt on over her head and she nods.

"Yeah! Big one!" She says opening her arms wide and I smile and kiss her cheek.

"Of course. We will get the biggest one." I say and she smiles as she holds onto my shoulders while I get her shorts on. I then hear my phone start ringing so I look down and see Jay calling causing a large smile to spread across my face. I answer the FaceTime call as I grab her shoes and sit her down on my bed so I can put them on.

"Hey beautiful." He greets once it connects and I smile and lift the phone up so he can see me.

"Hey. Look baby, can you say hi?" I ask moving the phone to Mayla and she smiles big and waves.

"Hello sweetheart. What are you doing?" He asks her making me smile as I let her hold the phone so I can focus on her shoes.

"Big pumpin." She mumbles and I chuckle.

"Really? That's so cool!" He says in a excited tone even if he probably didn't understand what she's talking about.

"Yeah! Mama." She says handing me the phone and I smile as I face it back to me.

"Hey, sorry, I was getting her dressed. We're going to the pumpkin patch, if you didn't understand." I say laughing as I set her on the floor.

"I put two and two together when I saw her shirt." He replies and I chuckle. She's wearing a cute shirt that says spooky babe.

"Yeah. What are you up to today?" I ask grabbing Mayla's hand as she gets ready to run out of my room and I don't want her by the stairs even if there is a baby gate. She figured out how to open it a few days ago, and now I'm worried.

"I just need to pick up the keys for my new place and probably hang around. My stuff won't all be here until a few more weeks, so I'm gonna just stay at my friends until then." He says and I nod.

"You wanna come with us?" I ask as I close my bedroom door so she can't get out and then I walk to my bathroom so I can finish my hair.

"You want me to?" He asks in a surprised voice and I chuckle and nod as I prop my phone up on the counter.

"Yeah. I think it would be fun. You've already met her." I say shrugging as I curl a piece of my hair.

"Okay, I'd love to go then. What time?" He asks and I smile.

"We're going to leave as soon as I'm ready, so you can meet us here or we can meet at the pumpkin patch." I tell him as I poke my head out to check on Mayla since she got quiet and I see her starting to crawl under my bed. "Hold on a second." I say quickly and he nods so I walk over to her and swiftly pick her up before she's fully under because I don't know if I would be able to get her out if she did. "You're just into all sorts of trouble this morning baby." I say and she giggles. I then bring her into the bathroom with me and set her down and give her one of my makeup brushes to occupy her. "Okay, sorry about that." I say and he shakes his head with a smile.
