It's been a couple weeks and I haven't seen Jay since he came over. He ended up staying for a couple hours to hangout with Mayla while I stayed away upstairs. Today is my twelve week checkup with my doctor though and I'm meeting Jay there with Mayla. I wanted to bring her today so I could tell her about the baby. I know she wouldn't really understand, but maybe if she's actually there seeing the baby then maybe she will grasp it more.
"There he is Demi." Max says nodding outside the window and I look out to see Jay pulling in next to us.
"Jay!" Mayla squeals when she sees him and I smile as I start unbuckling her. He then opens her side of the door and I smile a little more when Mayla immediately wraps her arms around him as soon as she's unbuckled.
"Hi sweetheart." Jay greets as he adjusts her on his hip as I get out of the car. "Hey." Jay says when he sees me.
"Hi." I reply and then we walk in. I check in and then we all sit down at the back of the waiting room. "So, I wanted to tell you something baby. Remember I told you that I have a surprise for you and we have to come here to find out?" I then ask Mayla as she sits in Jay's lap and she nods. "Well, you know how I was showing you pictures of you as a baby last night?" I then ask and she nods.
"Yeah. I was tiny." She giggles and I smile and nod.
"You were tiny. How would you like having another baby like you? A sister or brother?" I ask her and she furrows her brows.
"A baby?" She asks and I nod.
"Yeah, a baby. We will see the baby right now, okay?" I say pushing some of her hair behind her ear and she nods. A nurse then calls my name so we get up and follow her back to a room. She takes my measurements and vitals before leaving to get my doctor.
"Where's baby?" Mayla asks and both Jay and I chuckle.
"The baby is in my tummy." I say and now she just looks totally lost.
"Why?" She asks.
"Because the baby still needs to grow to get strong so it's in my tummy so I can protect the baby until it's big enough to come out." I explain to her as best I can and she just nods even though I know she still doesn't understand. A few minutes later, my doctor walks in and I smile as we greet each other and I introduce her to Jay and Mayla.
"Alright, let's get started. Go ahead and lay back and lift your shirt up." My doctor says and I nod as I do what she says. She then squirts the gel on my stomach and places the doppler on top and starts moving it around. "And there's your baby." She points out and I smile as I look at the screen.

"Look Mayla. There's the baby." Jay says and I turn to see her looking up at the screen with a smile.
"Everything looks great you guys. Baby is growing just how they should. I did see that your blood pressure was a little on the higher side, but that could be from anything Demi. I do really want you to try and relax." My doctor says and I sigh.
