Demi's POV
It's been a couple weeks now and I don't even know what happened between Jay and I. We haven't talked once, so I'm assuming we're on a break. Today is his first game of the season though and I promised him I would go. He was really nervous for the first game and especially more because he's on a new team. All of this is a brand new environment compared to the other teams he's been on. I'm even bringing Mayla to the game because ever since Jay and I started dating, not only does she love him, but she also loves the sport he plays too. He would show her how to kick a soccer ball in the backyard all day long and now that is her first choice of toy to play with outside. I also just brought her because if I do decide to go down to see him at the end of the game, I'll have Mayla to break the ice. I am having Matthew come with me also though because I know I would need backup and I wanted someone to talk to.
"I'm surprised you even came here today." Matthew says as soon as we sit down in the viewing room and I start getting Mayla situated in front of me.
"I promised him I would." I reply back quietly as I fix Mayla's hair since it started falling out of the bow I had in it.
"I know, but he did kind of just break your heart." He says and I sigh.
"He didn't break my heart." I reply looking up at him and he raises his brows.
"What did he do then? Because I did see you crying the morning after he came over." He asks and I roll my eyes and sit back against my seat as I try to find Jay on the field.
"I was just upset. He explained to me why he couldn't say he loves me back and who the woman was. I told him to leave though once he couldn't tell me why she was at his house. I just can't be in a relationship with someone who is going to keep things from me. Things that are especially going to hurt us if he doesn't tell me." I explain to him because I never really did. My eyes then catch Jay and I see him warming up.
"So what? You guys broken up?" He asks and I shrug.
"I don't know." I mumble as I look back down at Mayla. His game soon started and he did look a little off. I don't know how he normally plays, but seeing him lagging behind the rest of the team and not even getting excited when his team scored, did not seem like how he would normally play. About halfway through the game, Mayla realized what was going on and wouldn't leave the large window as she watched out to the field. It was actually pretty cute to see her so excited. Jay's team ended up winning the game and I saw them all walk back to their locker rooms, so we got up and I had Max lead us down to the locker rooms. We showed our passes to the security as we passed and when we finally made it, we all hung around until they came out. Matthew kept telling me that we should just leave, but I wanted to see him. I wanted him to know that I'm still here if he's ready to be honest with me, because I do love him. Even if he doesn't love me, I do, and I want him to know that. Mayla was getting a little antsy in my arms, but I didn't want to let her down because there was people around and I didn't want her running around. My thoughts were interrupted though when I heard Mayla gasp and start wiggling in my arms so I looked up to see Jay just walked out of the locker room and he was walking the other way looking down at his phone, so I let Mayla down and watched her run up to him and crash into his legs. He turned around quickly and he smiled big once he saw Mayla. He pulled his headphones out and bent down to pick her up and then looked around, probably trying to find me. When he finally caught my gaze, I gave him a small smile and he walked up to us.
"Hey." I say when he makes it up to me and he smiles lightly.
"Hey. I didn't think you were coming." He says and I nod.
"I didn't think I was either, but I promised I would be here. You did good." I tell him and he smiles a little bigger and brings his attention back down to Mayla who was talking his ear off. I smiled as I watched them interact and at one point, he walked us onto the field and let Mayla run around and kick the soccer ball.
