Demi's POV
It's been a few days since my album art shoot and my family just got back from Texas so I'm at my parents house now with my sisters to hangout, but I am so tired and literally cannot wait to go home and sleep. Maybe my mom and dad can have Mayla for the night because I have not been able to sleep lately.
"You okay?" I hear Maddie ask so I open my eyes to see her and Dallas walking outside where I am while Mayla and my parents make dinner inside.
"Yeah. Just tired and the sun feels good." I answer sitting up a little as they both sit down.
"Yeah, no offense, but you look exhausted." Dallas says laughing and I roll my eyes with a small smile. "You also look a little pale. Are you sure you're okay?" She then asks and I nod.
"I'm fine. Just tired." I answer. Mayla then comes running out and climbs onto my lap.
"Call Jay please?" She asks grabbing my phone and I sigh.
"I can't baby. I told you he's working." I say and then I see her pull the puppy dog eyes as she pouts and I groan as I rest my head back.
"Please. Miss him." She asks again softly and I take a deep breath as I grab my phone from her and FaceTime Jay. He answers now because he knows that it's Mayla that wants to talk to him. She's had me call him at least once a day since she talked to him a few days ago and I can't say no to her. He answers after only a couple rings and I see Mayla's smile grow once he greets her.
"Hi sweetie. Miss me already? We just talked last night." He says.
"Yeah. Mommy too." She says and I widen my eyes as I look down at her.
"Oh. Um, what are you doing?" He says quiet in the beginning and I sigh heavily.
"Glamma and grandpas house." She answers him and I glance up to see both my sisters giving me curious looks. Mayla then ended up sliding off my lap and walking to the yard still chatting away with Jay.
"I thought you guys were broken up?" Maddie asks and I nod as I rub my forehead.
"We are. She throws fits if she can't talk to him though and I don't have the heart to tell her that he won't be around anymore." I tell them.
"Well she needs to know if you guys are actually done. You can't just call your ex everyday so your daughter can talk to him." Dallas says and I nod.
"I know. You try looking in those eyes and telling her that though. She loves him so it's not that easy." I respond.
"It would be if you were actually done with him though." Maddie says and I look over at her with raised brows. "I'm serious. I think you're using the fact that Mayla loves him so much to keep onto this hope that you'll eventually get back together. That isn't right though and you need to make a decision. Are you really done with him, or would you take him back the second he told you he was ready to be with you again?" She then asks and I bite my lip as I look down and fiddle with my fingers. She's kind of right.
"I love him." I mumble as I look back up and they both give me sympathetic looks.
"Mommy! He gotta go!" Mayla shouts and I look up.
"Okay. Say bye and press the red button. You remember that one?" I tell her and she nods. I watch her say goodbye and then she presses the button before running back up to me and handing me my phone back. She then goes back to the grass and starts playing with the dogs while I keep an eye on her.
After about thirty minutes, dinner was ready so we all headed inside and I am immediately hit with naseau at the smell of the fish.
"What is it?" I ask my dad as he cuts some chicken for Mayla.
