Alfie Gilbert stood mouth agape as he watched the two cursive S.S initials turn to a rich gold. His eyes locked on to the deep dark pools of his soulmate.

Alfie shook his head, snapping out of his daze, "I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." He apologised.

Stefan smiled a dazzling smile that made Alfie feel weak at the knees, "My fault actually. I was following the pull that led me to you." Stefan squeezed Alfie's hand gently, "You have no idea how long I have been waiting for you."

Alfie frowned, wasn't he like 17, and then it clicked, Stefan must be one of the vampires in the show. Fuck, Alfie the thought, of course I'm destined to be with a vampire, could be worse though I suppose.

"I'm Alfie. Alfie Gilbert." Alfie introduced with a smile, earning a smile back. "I'm Stefan Salvatore."

"Please accept me." Stefan whispered, not meaning for Alfie to hear. But he did and before he could stop himself, Alfie closed his eyes and accepted the bond causing Stefan to smile widely and do the exact same.

Everyone in the hall had stopped what they where doing. They had all been entranced with the new kid so when they saw that he was soulmate'd with Alfie Gilbert, half felt envy and the other half felt excited.

Mystic Falls was not a place where many people found their soulmates. Maybe it was because it was a supernatural infested town? Who knows.

Caroline watched with slight disappointment, she had found the new guy hot and was going to try and talk to him but now that was never going to happen. However, she also felt happy because now her bestie finally had someone who could be there for him and every way she and Jeremy never could.

Elena stood by her locker watching with greed and jealousy. Why did her brother get the new guy, why not her. She was definitely pretty enough. That's it! She thought, I'll just make him see that I'm the better choice.

Bonnie watched with anger. After Elena's break up with Matt, she was going to try and set her up with someone else and this new guy was her chance but now Alfie had gone and ruined it.

"What class do you have first?" Alfie found himself asking after a small pause of comfortable silence.

Stefan pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, unfolded it and read what was written, "History in room B12 with Mr Tanner."

Alfie winced, as he was hit with horrible memories of that exact teacher, "You've got that with me. Word of warning, that man likes to walk around like his shit don't stink."

Stefan chuckled, shaking his head as he looked towards his Mate lovingly.

Alfie went to link his arm with Stefan's but pulled back, blushing and turned his gaze towards the floor.

Stefan smiled and linked his arm with Alfie's, looking down at the blushing teen adoringly, "Could you show me the way."

Alfie nodded and began walking down the corridor, ignoring all the lingering eyes following there every moment.

Catching eyes with Caroline, he couldn't stop the soft chuckle from escaping his parted lips as Caroline smiled widely, gave to big thumps up and an over exaggerated wink.

Suddenly Alfie turned his attention towards the floor. Things had suddenly just gotten so much harder. First he wakes up in a show he knows nothing about, and now he finds out he's soulmate'd to a vampire.

What was he supposed to do now, he couldn't leave now. The mere thought of leaving hurt him deeply and he knew why. Because of Stefan. The bond already in place having been accepted on both ends, meant he couldn't leave without taking Stefan with him and he found he couldn't do that, he couldn't uproot Stefan from everything he knew.

"So, what's your favourite colour?" Stefan asked, snapping Alfie from his whirlwind of thoughts.

"Hmm?" Alfie hummed in question, "I would have to say blue. And not just any blue but peacock blue." He turned to look up at Stefan, "What about you?"

"Green." He answered instantly, "And not just any green," he repeated teasingly, "But Emerald green, like your eyes." He said softly.

Alfie blushed unwillingly and looked towards the ground, Curse my hormones and this vampires cuteness, clearing his throat he asked, "What's your favourite hobby?"

Stefan looked thoughtful for a moment as he thought of an answer, "Reading. I enjoy sitting down with a good book. You?"

Alfie thought back to what he liked to do in his old body, which was surprisingly the same as this one, "Photography. I enjoy taking photos of whatever catches my eye. Speaking of which, you would look amazing, could I possibly take some of you?"

"Of course." Stefan smiled.

The pair soon came to a stop outside of a door with one single glass pane. Pulling down on the handle, Alfie led them inside and towards a set of seats at the back.

The class filled in behind the pair until every seat was filled leaving them to only wait on the teacher.

"You know," Alfie muttered towards Stefan, "For someone who's constantly on about punctuality, he's never on time."

Stefan opened his mouth to reply when said teacher walked in, sat down and did the register before staring on the lesson.

While Mr Tanner was talking, Alfie could feel two pares of eyes on him. Glancing around he spotted his sister glaring at him, so Alfie being himself, raised an amused brow causing her to huff and face the front.

Turning to the side, he saw Stefan staring at him with a soft smirk on his lips.

"You should be paying attention." He whispered to him.

"How can I pay attention when have have someone as handsome as you sitting next to me?"

Alfie blushed, cleared his throat and turned back to the front as Tenner was still teaching, not noticing the small interaction at the back.

"Once out home state of Virginia joined Confederacy in 1861 it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state." Said Mr Tanner, "People in Virginia's Northwest had different ideas from those of the traditional Deep South. And Virginia divided..."
