The Night Of The Comet
┗━━━✦❘༻༺❘✦━━━┛Alfie and Caroline had spent the next three hours at her house, trying to figure out why Alfie's eyes had shone a bright gold. Unfortunately, they hadn't been able to find a reason, no matter how many supernatural books they had read through.
"Caroline," Alfie sighed tiredly, throwing another book into his pile that already contained twenty books, "Let's just call it quits today, yeah? We've looked through every book the library would give us, and we have found nothing."
Caroline slammed her book shut with a huff, "Well we can't just give up!" She countered, "Alfie, you are my best friend, my brother, and I'll be dammed if I don't figure out what is going on. What if it's something dangerous?"
Alfie smiled a tired smile, "I'm not saying we stop. You think you're the only one who wants to know what's going on?" He said gently, "It's my eyes, and I would very much like to know why they started to glow. But what I'm saying is, maybe we stop today. We can pick it up again tomorrow."
"Sorry," Caroline mumbled with a sigh, "You're practically my brother Alfie, I don't want to see you get hurt because we couldn't find anything." With her eyes downcast, Caroline began to twist one of the many rings on her fingers.
Smiling, Alfie reached over and grasped her hands within his own causing her to stop and look up at him, "And you are my sister." He told her with sincerity, "But I think I can survive one night, don't you? Besides, I have a badass blonde to save my life."
Caroline huffed, her lips pursed as she tried to fight back a smile, "I hate you sometimes," she mumbled, nudging the teen with her shoulder, "But, I suppose I am Badass," shrugged nonchalantly, Caroline flicked her hair behind her shoulder before giggling.
"Dam right you are," leaning over, Alfie wrapped his arm around her shoulder, "And don't let anyone else tell you different. If they do, send 'em my way." He said, slightly joking but also telling the truth. He wouldn't have anyone putting his sister down.
Caroline sighed, her head resting on his shoulder while she closed her eyes, "I love you, Alfie-Walfie." She said with a soft smile. Alfie placed his cheek on top of her head, smiling gently as he held her tighter, "And I love you CareBear."
The heartfelt moment between the two siblings in anything but blood, was interrupted when Alfie's phone began blaring 'Highway to hell', the name Aunt Jenna flashing repeatedly.
Huffing, Alfie pulled away and picked up his phone from its place nested to the messy pile of books. Pressing answer, he lifted it up to his ear and before he had a chance to say one word, his Aunt started talking.
"Alfie, I need to home please. I have to have a talk with Jeremy and he will only listen if you are there." She spoke with hurried words, thinking that Alfie wouldn't say anything because he never really had whenever she had called.
