Senia remembered where she is and composed herself. She smiled towards Kaz that even she was shocked by her actions.
"I am a soldier you know."
"All the better for you to take the job."
Kaz stood up and offered his hands. "Kaz Brekker. Welcome to the Crow Club."
"Senia."
"No last name?" Jesper once again draped his arm around her shoulders.
"Not yet." Senia replied and took a seat, breathing heavily when she felt the atmosphere change. It now feels safe for her.
Kaz Brekker sat on his chair with Senia and Jesper sitting in front of him, he glanced towards Jesper as the man raised his eyebrows at him asking his friend to talk more to their guest.
"How did you get out of Ravka?"
Senia finally lifted her gaze from her hands and looked into the eyes of the man in front of her.
"I... don't exactly know."
Silence.
"We're ordered to go to Novokribirsk, first and the second army in the same skiff, to cross the Unsea to get a week's supply. I remembered it was calm at first. Our travelling was steady we weren't drawing too much attention. However, barely two marks in, chaos broke out and all I can hear is the drumming of heartbeats then something else singing to me, calling for my attention. It was as though the volcras and the shadow itself is whispering my name-"
A gun cocking was heard and when Senia looked up, she was surprised to see Jesper's gun pointed in between her eyes with an agitated Kaz beside him.
"What are you?" Kaz's piercing gaze clashed with her anxious ones.
"A tracker from the first army." Senia stood up getting behind the chair as it screeched and Jesper moved his gun closer to her.
"Aside from that. You're speaking with astonishment written on your face and here we are listening to you talk like a lunatic, you might as well be with what you've gone through." Jesper spoke clearly confused with what he should do but a tiny bit of sadness in his eyes, wondering if he'll have to pull the trigger so early on.
"I made a discovery today and this might sound crazy but I think I'm not just a tracker."
It was either a bullet in her head or her disturbing discovery be known by strangers.
Kaz looked at her intently and waited for her to continue.
"When I was in the fold, a volcra made deep slashes in my stomach and I didn't notice when but..." Senia lifted her uniform to show both men her now fast healing skin, bit of her flesh can be seen but no blood oozing out of it.
Jesper's the first one to calm down and jumped to her to ruffle her hair and say, "Oh baby! You're a miracle!"
Senia can't help a smile to grow on her lips when she looked at Jesper and all that she went through from earlier that day was temporarily set aside.
"Looks like I just hired a newly discovered Grisha, a Healer even."
Kaz looked at her still with a doubtful glint in his eyes when his attention diverted to the window near them.Senia quickly got on alert when she saw a black shadow emerged in front of it. What was terrifying is that if Kaz didn't look at the window she wouldn't notice someone in there.
"Ease up Senia, it's only Inej she's a friend. Well, more than a friend for Kaz." Jesper whispered the last sentence on her ears as she watched a beautiful woman unveil herself.
"Nothing out of the ordinary." Inej's eyes shifted from Kaz to Senia questioningly. "Who're you?"
"Senia from Ravka."
Inej smiled at her and offered her hand. Despite the cold front Senia thought of the girl, Inej actually held this comforting aura around her especially when she smiled.
"Inej, I'm assuming you're a new member, based on Jesper and Kaz's nonexistent wariness around you."
Senia nodded and their conversation ended. Jesper led her out of the room and asked questions.
"You've got money?"
"Seeing as I've just been through the fold and had my stomach slashed then healed miraculously then discovered I'm Grisha," Senia whispered and Jesper chuckled from her antics. "No Jesper, I am officially broke."
They got out of the club and Senia finally took in the place around her, it was eerie to be somewhere so dark and you just get this feeling as if someone will stab you in the back for no reason at all.
Nevertheless, Jesper took her hand and led her to an alley where men are betting on a table.
"Well then my heart, let me introduce you to the world of gambling."
Jesper said as he dramatically bows and gestured behind him.
