╰┈➤ ❝ [Niveous, she is] ❞

Novokribirsk, West Ravka.

Five people inside a confined coach talked to themselves, different emotions displayed on their faces.

"You said you have a contact who can get us inside. A Heartrender."

Three pair of eyes carrying almost the same burdens in life turned to look at their little friend, Senia, who chose to look out the window avoiding their piercing gaze.

Arken, the conductor, hummed and nodded his head the past interaction have gone unnoticed by him.

"How do I know we can trust her?"

"Nina grew up there."

"Most Grisha grew up in the little palace," Kaz once again turned his eyes to Senia amusement on his cloudy eyes. "very few would betray their general, and fewer still would help foreigners kidnap their most prized possession." Kaz clenched his sharp jaw that stalled Senia's eyes just for a bit and turn away again, she thanked the saints that only she could hear heartbeats.

"Nina's a radical. Thinks Grisha should get to choose if they serve the Crown. She despises involuntary service more than she despises Fjerdans."

A small gasp resonated inside their crowded space, all pairs of eyes directed at Senia. At the mention of the other half that makes her whole, the Fjerdans. Senia couldn't be more of the actual embodiment of the Fjerdans, what with her pale skin, grey eyes, and all that makes her look like she is one with the snow.

Jesper chose to squeeze Senia's wrist and didn't let go which earned a frown from a slightly troubled man and a sweet smile from the wraith.

They arrived at the Inn where they are supposed to meet with Nina. Problem is, the Heartrender is nowhere in sight.

"Drüskelle. They are ruthless Grisha hunters." Arken said while holding what seems to be a silver symbol of a wild beast in his hands.

"Explains the Fjerdan krydda the innkeeper was counting when we arrived."

Senia can't help the sudden lift of her mood when she saw Jesper straight out ate the food on the nightstand.

Jesper rolled his eyes at her but also smiled with food still in his mouth.

I'm hungry. Jesper mouthed to her which only earned him a pat on the cheeks.

Their happy atmosphere was interrupted when Kaz ordered Inej to take a look outside and Senia offered to help which Kaz only nodded at.

Senia moved back towards the exit first and stopped in front of the innkeeper.

"Your companions left long ago. Why are you still here Fjerdan?" There was an obvious distaste in the man's voice for her.

The innkeeper probably thought that she was with the Drüskelle because of her pale skin letting the light bounce off it and her grey eyes as chaotic as a snow blizzard.

Senia chose to try out something new and kept her eyes closed while speaking.

"How many hours ago is that exactly?"

"Two maybe three." The man answered almost robotically and when Senia opened her eyes she saw the man still stiff and in a daze.

Senia didn't know what to do but she tried to control the man's pulse at a steady pace. Senia stayed and observed as the man's distasteful sneer came back after almost a minute.

Senia couldn't be happier with what she achieved for the day and get on her path outside the inn.

"This seems like a reasonable juncture to abandon this whole Sun Summoner plan." Arken's voice made Senia turn to look at the group moving towards her.

"Abandon?" Kaz asked anger hinted in his voice. "We're in this now. And I know what a million kruge means to me. What does it mean to you?"

"freedom." Inej quickly replied not having any second thoughts.

"Fun. Like, at least a few months." Jesper smirked at Arken who looked at him in disbelief but also said, "Retirement."

"Right. So we press on. Get us across the fold and I'll figure out the rest on the other side." Kaz looked pointedly at them then at Senia who didn't bother to join in on their conversation opting to stay quiet.

All eyes turned to Arken who sighed and gave his orders on what is needed to be able to cross the shadow fold.

"So, who gets what?"

"Inej, jurda. I'll get the goat." Kaz slowly walked towards Jesper who is beside Senia. "just the coal, no detours." Senia grinned which paired well with Jesper's eyes that are full of light and mischief.

"Alabaster coal?" Jesper asked a vendor who pointed them the right way.

"This task's too easy." Senia said with a slight jump on her step, not being able to contain the excitement she's feeling from the knowledge that she's about to go back.

She can't wait to go back to her friends. Alina is still alive considering that she is the alleged sun summoner and she worries a bit for Mal although she is almost sure that he can't die just like that.

"Eleven! Dealer wins all!" a voice shouted as men sighs and groans followed.

"No detours, Jesper." Senia clicked her tongue. Tapping her feet on the pavement.

"Right." Jesper said as they continued on their way.

"Who's feeling lucky?"

Senia groaned when she saw the look on Jesper's face when he turned to her. She rolled her eyes and motioned for Jesper to lead the way.

"Is this an open table?" Jesper and Senia walked inside the shady space as Jesper took out all the money Kaz has given him.

Senia prayed to the Saints that they will still have money for that coal later on.
