╰┈➤ ❝ [The gravity in her voice] ❞

Senia along with the other Grisha are walking through the thick snow trying to keep themselves warm through the cold winter breeze. Senia kept on forming a plan inside her head to how she can escape from them and rescue Alina. The cold is not helping but she found familiar warmth in its embrace and ghostly whispers in her ear.

When Senia saw the bright light illuminating the forest someplace in front of them, she first thought of Alina. Her legs hadn't moved so fast before but Ivan and the General's Grisha were faster, of course, they have trained their whole lives.

It all happened so fast.

Gunshot fired after the large Stag was shot with an arrow from a Grisha. It wailed a cry for help. Senia saw that Mal was about to kill the Stag but Zoya, the Squaller, moved Mal's arrow away by manipulating the wind.

"The animal's not meant for you." Mal was about to fire at Zoya but Senia stopped him before even doing so.

"Mal, no!" Senia said and slowed Mal's heartbeat, for a second the uneasiness was evident on Mal's face when he lowered the bow but an arrow found its way into his stomach.

"Mal!" Alina yelled when her eyes found Senia's grey ones, behind her was Zoya.

A Heartrender moved his hands and slowly squeezed Mal's insides as his heartbeat increased. Alina stood up and blasted lights in front of the three Grisha's face, Senia included.

She felt the light hit her face for a moment and then she was on the ground clutching her eyes again with a loud ringing in her ears, for the second time around.

Senia stood up slowly, her view distorted when she heard Mal yell in pain. Right then, she felt the shadows materialize behind her feeding upon their pain and all that is cynical around them.

She watched as General Kirigan emerged from the shadows and moved his hand forming a thin line of shadow in front of his hands when he directed it to the Stag. However, Alina ran and touched Morozova's Stag that illuminated a bright glow to shield them from the General.

"You can't save them, Alina. You may have the power of light but not the power to heal." General Kirigan said. Senia examined their situation, Alina was inside her light that was acting as a bubble to shield them from the dark shadows along with Mal and the Stag but Mal was slowly losing blood. Both their hearts are beating although with different tempos.

One was leisurely walking closer to death and one was hanging on the thread of her fierce belief.

"I know the tracker is important to you. Give me the Stag and I'll have my Healer save him." Kirigan looked briefly at Senia his gaze showing just how much he wanted the stag's bone on Alina's collar. He walked forward to Alina.

Mal opposed the General and urged Alina to take the Stag's life herself when he tried to hand her a knife. Alina looked in the Stag's enticing eyes, the mythical creature whimpering on the cold ground coated in white snow.

It played in Senia's eyes like an old memory at a slow pace, she watched Alina let the light go and embraced Mal, she watched other Grisha go to them and separate the two, she watched as the Grisha holding her friend Mal get punched but she did not just watch when the General repeated his actions before to kill the mythical creature she had only heard from Ana Kuya's stories back at that lonesome orphanage.

She stealthily moved in rhythm with the General's pace. When he moved his hands above, she moved hers below and when his shadow was about to touch the wailing Stag's neck she quickly moved her hands to ball it in a fist and take one last look in the eyes of Morozova's Stag that was surprisingly looking at hers.

Its knowing stare focused on her for that split second, recognition in its eyes. Just then, she clenched her fist and closed her eyes preventing the tear that has unknowingly build up in her eyes from escaping but one slipped. Sorrow devouring her heart which confused her even more.

The sound of the Stag's flesh and bones splitting was heard, Senia looked up to the General's back as she stood up. Everyone stood still, no one dared to move or rather their consciousness is not letting them from the fear of the consequences if they defy their General.

"Bring me its antlers." He ordered to the Durast. Senia then woke up from her thoughts and run to Mal.

Senia saw his stomach and the snow he laid on painted in red. "And the otkazat'sya, sir?" The Grisha beside Senia asked.

"I am a man of my word. Heal him, he was only protecting Miss Starkov." The Black General said, his penetrating dark eyes directed at Alina who was struggling to get away from Ivan's grip on her.

Senia looked up from Mal's pale face to the Black General's eyes. "I'll handle him." Senia abruptly said and did not wait for permission to heal the tracker.

She took a hold of Mal's face and made him look at her. "Mal, Mal... look at me." The tracker took his own time to look at her, "Senia?" He whispered confused to find his friend amongst the Grisha that just planted an arrow in his stomach.

"I'll tell you later, just stay still." Senia moved her hands and placed them above his open wound, steadily willing his flesh to move and stitch its own back to its original place closing his bleeding wound. She willed his heartbeat into a calm state to let the dark take him. "Mal, you need to rest."

The tracker fell limp in her arms his breathing even. Senia turned to the Grisha beside her. "Carry him back to the coach." She ordered him and patted her kefta standing up.

"Who are you to order me?" He asked her venom laced in his voice.

"No one. But I'll be your guide to the land of the perished if you don't do as I say." Senia spoke with grave gravity in her voice. Even Ivan and Zoya was astounded by her actions.

Her words did not escape the Darkling's ears. There was a brief moment of pride that he felt creeping in his bones but he pushed it away, turning his head to Alina who has her eyes on the tracker being assisted to their coach.
