The next morning I woke up at 6:00 so I could go get Sam and drop him off at the kindergarten.

"Good morning, Sammy. How was Jeff's house?" I asked Sam in the car.

"It was so fun. We made pizza and then we had ice cream. We also got to play on the Wii." He said happily.

"Sounds like you really liked it." I said.

"I did. Can I go back there again maybe?" He asked.

"Of course. But maybe in a few weeks." I said.

"Okie dokie." He said.

I dropped him off and headed to school. Today I am actually excited for school. I get to hang out with Colby. He said I would see him so I'm just going to assume I will.

I park my car and grab my backpack from the backseat and head in. I go to my locker and start to grab all my stuff for morning classes.

"Hey, cupcake." Jack says walking up to my locker.

"Hey." I say.

"Can I come over to your place so you could tutor me?" He asks.

"Umm, yeah sure. I guess." I reply.

"Cool. And about yesterday. I wanted to ask him we could go-" he soon was cut off.

"Good morning, sunshine." Colby says hugging me.

"Hey, good morning Colby Jack." I say smiling.

"I'll never be able to live that down." He says.

"I'll never be able to live 'sunshine' down." I say back.

"At least yours describes a warm, bright sun and mine is the name of cheese." He counters.

"For your information. You love cheese." I counter back.

"That I do." He says.

I laugh. He's so charming sometimes. Jack's staring me down and he's practically glaring at Colby.

"Sunshine, I wanted to know if you wanted to catch a movie this Saturday." He says.

"Sure. I would love that." I say. To be honest my heart was pounding in my chest.

Colby turns to Jack and flashes a smile, "Hi, I'm Colby."

Jack just gives him a cold look and Colby's smile turns stiff, "Jack." Is all he replies with.

"Well, I've got to get to class. See you later, sunshine." Colby smiles at me but gives Jack a stiff frown.

Once Colby had gone to class, Jack says, "Who's he?" He asks me.

"He's a childhood friend that moved back."

"Friend? He's your friend?" Jack says doubtfully.

"Yeah. What about it? He's nice, smart, and charming and friendly." I emphasize friendly.

"Seems more than friendly." He says.

"How so?" I ask.

"He just... he hugs you, calls you sunshine, and that stuff." He replies frustratingly.

"That's your argument?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Yes."

I roll my eyes and shake my head.

"Let's get to class before I get detention." I walk to my first class, Chemistry.
