“Pst. Rowan!” I heard Ashton say. I opened my door to see his smiling face. “Hello, Ash” I said, smiling at him. He ran into the room and hopped on the bed, picking up the book I had just set down. “Whatcha readin’ here, love?” “A book. My mum sent it to me in the mail.” “Wonderful. Let’s do something fun!” He said, eagerly. “Like what?” I said, sitting next to him on the bed. “Go out. Just us.” It had been two weeks since Luke followed us along on our date, and Ashton was just as upset as I was. We didn’t talk to Luke about it, however. “What about Luke?” I asked, poking his dimple.
“We can always sneak out.” Ashton suggested. "That's dishonest, baby" I scolded. "Who put him in charge of us? C'mon, Ro. Come have some fun, will ya?" I giggled and shook my head. "Please Rowan? I know something really fun that we can do..." He said with a smirk. "Fine."
"Excellent! Put on something shabby and meet me out at the car in thirty minutes!" He said, skipping out the door. "Why thirty minutes?" I asked. "So Luke thinks we went different places. I'll park a few feet away from the house and you meet me at the car." He explained. "And why do I need to wear shabby clothes?" "We're gonna get messy!"
I looked at him skeptically but pushed him out of the room so I could change. I threw on a pair of old, ripped up skinny jeans and an old black tank top. I put my hair in a ponytail and waited around my room for thirty minutes to pass. I looked at the clock. Two minutes. Same difference.
I walked down the stairs. "Hi Rowan!" Luke and Mikey said with a smile. "Hey guys. I'm going out for a little bit. Don't wait up for me!" I said, trying to get out the door as fast as possible. "Oh sweet! Where are you going?" Mikey asked. I was hoping they wouldn't ask. "I um..." I stuttered. I tried to think of a decent excuse. "Shopping." I said quickly. "Dressed like that?" Luke asked, looking at the distressed jeans hugging my legs. "Like what?" I asked as if I thought I looked fine. "Erm, nevermind. Have fun.Be safe." Luke said, turning his attention back to his guitar.
I rushed out the door and down the road until I came across Ashton's car. "So where are we going?" I asked, smiling. Ashton took my hand in his before answering. "You ever heard of graffiti?" I gasped. "Isn't that vandalism?" "No. It is not. It's completely fine. It's fun."
I wasn't sure, but I assumed this wasn't his first time. He drove up to some dark run down area and grabbed some spray paint cans out of his trunk. "Ash, this place is scary." I said, holding onto his arm. "Let's leave." He giggled. "I'll keep you safe. There's nothing to be afraid of." He said as he shook up a can of neon green paint.
He began to make various designs on the building in front of us. I shook up a can of purple paint and did different little squiggles and doodles. "This is kind of fun" I said, grinning. "I told you so!" Ashton laughed before he placed a little kiss on my cheek. We spent a whole hour using up can after can of paint and laughing and having a good time.
All of the sudden, he perked up and told me to be quiet. "Rowan, we need to go.Get in the car." "Ashton what-" "Now." I did as he said and rushed into the car, dropping the spray paint cans on the ground. He rushed in after me and started the car. "Ashton why are we running away?" I asked nervously. He shushed me and began to drive away, definitely breaking the speed limit.
I looked behind us to see flashing lights. "ASHTON!" I shrieked, terrified. "Shoot" Ashton said, driving faster. He was going 80 in a 60 zone. He drove very fast, making turns and shortcuts until he finally lost them. He pulled into the driveway and ran with me into the backyard. "Ashton, you just ran from the police! That was so bad!" He just laughed. "That wasn't your first time running from the police was it?" I asked. "Of course not doll" He said, pinning me up against the wall. "Ashton..." I whispered. "Shhh" He mumbled, inching closer to me.
He stared into my eyes before connecting his lips to mine. I felt my heart melting. There was no reason to resist. I pushed my lips against his and kissed him furiously. He pulled away for a second before wrapping his arms around my waist. "I love you, Rowan Hallie Evans." He muttered. He kissed me harder as I ran my fingers through his hair, slipping out a small moan.
"Luke is gonna catch us." I moaned in between pecks. "Eh I don't even care." He carried me inside before throwing me on the sofa where he pulled me onto his chest. We just sat there cuddling until I fell asleep in his arms. "Goodnight, love." He whispered, before he put me into my bed and left me to sleep peacefully.
