I took a seat next to Ashton in homeroom. Kirstie threw her bag on the table but did not sit down. She was kind of strange, but interesting. I wanted to get to know her better. I was about to ask her a little bit about herself, when Ashton tapped my shoulder. "Yeah?" I asked, putting on some lip blam. "Your'e still my girlfriend, right?" He asked. "I mean after last night and all, I mean I know your dad is the boss and all and stuff but you, er, still like me right?" He stutterd. "Duh, Ashton. I'm not letting my dad push me around. I'm all yours." I answered. "Well that's a good attitude. Make sure Brian knows that." Kirstie said, referring to what went down at my locker. "Was that Brian guy leaving you alone?" He asked.
"No!" Kirstie answered for me. Ashton looked at me. "Rowan?" "It was nothing, baby" I told him. "Oh it was something, baby" Kirstie chuckled. She walked behind Ashton and started massaging his shoulders, allowing a puzzled look to form on his face. He didn't want to say anything, and neither did I. Everybody was kind of scared to tell her to stop doing something.
"She was all- give me the bloody book Brian! And he was all- you'll be begging for me later" Kirstie explained. Ashton bolted out of his seat. "Oh wait till I get my hands on that no good, worhtless son of a-" "Ashton babe sit down and chilax." Kirstie cooed like he was a toddler. She put her hands on his shoulders and looked over at me. "I know Brian and it's best to just ignore him." She told me. "That goes for you too, Ashton." Ashton rolled his eyes. "Don't do it, muchacho I can take you down." Kirstie threatened. Ashton laid his head down on the table and faced me. "Is it possible to move lockers?" He asked. "Dream on loverboy." Kirstie laughed. Ashton groaned a little bit. "Ash relax you know I only love you." I reassured him.
After the first two periods of the day, it was time for lunch. Ashton insisted on walking me to my locker so Brian didn't try to pull anything. I stopped at my locker and unlocked it and began to put my stuff away. "Hurry up before he shows up!" Ashton said anxiously. "Why, is the school bad boy afraid of another bad boy?" I teased. "No! I just don't want him touching you." Ashton replied. "That's why you're here." "I don't want him getting near you. He's going to try I just know it."
I laughed and got out my wallet that had my lunch money. "And what happens if he touches me?" I asked him. "Then he gets a piece of my fist." Ashton said rather seriously. I giggled. "It's not funny, Rowan." He stated. "Don't go picking any fights, Ash. I mean it." I told him. "You'll give yourself a bad reputation and he'll try to make your life miserable. Besides, you don't wanna get expelled again, do you?" "No" "'Then just ignore him."
*Ashton's POV*
"Then just ignore him." She said, closing her locker door. Easier said than done. If this Brain guy touched her one more time, I was going to punch him so hard he would be unconscious for days. Don't get me wrong, I was more than happy to call Rowan mine, and she was really happy with me changing, but more than part of me missed the bad boy days. It made me stand out. People knew me and feared me. I bet I could get major points if I stood up to Brian. Maybe there was a way I could still be the bad boy without making Rowan mad at me. She used to hate my guts and I didn't want to go back to that.
I sighed and followed Rowan to the lunch room, keeping a close eye on her. We walked into the lunch room and she grabbed my hand. "You're awful quiet, Ash. Just let it go, okay?" She said to me. I nodded and fake perked up. We sat down at the table where the everyone else was sitting. "So which one is Paige?" I asked Luke, who had a huge smile on his face. He pointed out a girl with long blonde hair who was sitting at a table with girls giggling and talking loudly. They had to be your classic high school popular girls.
I noticed Lindsay sitting next to Luke, staring at him. It was obvious to everybody that she has a crush on him. Meanwhile, I saw Michael with his eye on Kirstie. "MICHAEL!" Kirstie yelled, making him snap out of his daydream. "Uh, yeah?" He asked, turning a little red. "You are staring into my soul." She joked. "Oh yeah sorry." He mumbled. "Shut up and just kiss me Clifford." She said, leaning over the table. Michael happily leaned over and pecked her lips, earning a chuckle from her. "Does this mean you like me?" He asked her. "I see you as nothing more than a friend but I could tell what your lips wanted to I gave it to you." She said, taking another bite out of her sandwich. "Weird" Rowan whispered.
"Just go talk to her, Luke!" Calum said, pushing Luke out of his seat. "I'm going, I'm going." He said, slightly laughing. We all could hear him, since Paige's table was next to ours. Luke walked past the table and went into the bathroom, causing all of us to burst out in laughter. Once he came out, he walked by the table again, then a third time. Finally, he sat back down at our table. "Couldn't do it, could you?" Calum laughed.
"She was busy talking to her friends!" Luke defended. "Well then just ask her if you can talk to her for a minute" I suggested. "What do you know about girls?" Luke said. I looked at Rowan. "A lot, seeing as I have one and you don't." I answered. "Somebody get some ice for that burn!" Kirstie snorted. When I say snort, I mean her laugh sounded like a pig snorting. "Fine" Luke said, going to her table and tapping her on the shoulder.
"Hi" She said, turning around. All the girls giggled at the sight of Luke. "Hey" He said awkwardly. They stood there saying nothing for a few moments. "Do you uh, well you're in my science class, and do, well, crap." He muttered. Calum was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. Rowan was just watching in amusement while Kirstie and Michael critqued everything he did.
"Do you uhm, maybe wanna go out sometime?" He finally got out. "Sure!" She cheered. You could tell she was a cheerleader by the way she talked. "I'll pick you up Friday at six?" He offered. "I'll be ready." She grinned. Luke sat down at our table and high fived Michael. Rowan cleared her throat and looked at me.
"Where did Lindsay go?" She whispered. I looked up and noticed she was no longer with us. I got up and followed Rowan to the hall. She found Lindsay in the girl's bathroom and had me wait outside. I assumed it was girl drama. As I was waiting outside the bathroom I saw a person walk by. My mind immediately registered him as Brian.
"Hey!" I shouted at him. He turned around and locked eyes with me. "What do you want?" He snapped. He didn't even know me but he was rude from the start. I came up closer to him. We were about the same height. "I want you to keep your grubby, pathetic hands off of my girlfriend, are we clear?" I growled. "Who do you think you are? I don't even know what you're talking about!" He lied, pretending to be offended.
"The little short blonde girl that has the locker next to you. Ringing any bells? Yeah, she's mine and if you ever speak to her again I'll knock you unconscious." I threatened. "You couldn't hurt me if you tried, blondie!" He said with a smirk. Blondie? Really?
Before I knew what the heck I was even doing, I found my fist smashing into his neck. He fell on his rear but soon got himself up. He went for my jaw,but i dodged it and punched his throat. "Get away from me you loser!" Brian shouted, running off.
"Ashton you said you wouldn't do that." An all to familar voice said.
*Rowan's POV*
I found Lindsay hiding in the bathroom. She was upset because she had a crush on Luke and she wanted him to ask her out. Instead, he asked out the head cheerleader, who kicked her off of the squad two years ago for messing up a stunt at the homecoming game. Ihonestly felt bad for her. She seemed like such a sweet and sensitive girl.
I was trying to comfort her when she froze. "What is it?" I asked her, worried. "Brian is at it again. I can hear him out there." She said. She told me that Brian was her cousin and that he used to be normal but things changed. "What?" I asked her, genuinely confused. "He's fighting with somebody."
We rushed out of the bathroom, only to see Ashton and Brian throwing punches at each other. "Get away from me you loser!" Brian shouted, running off. "Ashton you said you wouldn't do that." I said softly. I was honestly disappointed in him. He said he would stop doing that. I also knew exactly why he did it. Jealousy.
I figured it might be a good idea to make him a little jealous just to teach him a lesson. Maybe I should flirt with Brian a little. Of course I was still loyal to Ashton, but maybe he just needed to learn a lesson.
"I'm sorry Rowan. I was just trying to protect you." He mumbled. "We'll talk about it later. Let's just go to lunch." I replied.
