"Lena comes home today" Granny told me.

"I know, I hope she's not too mad at us about not going to her graduation."

"I tried to get on that plane but I just couldn't" she said, "I have to listen to what the doctor tells me."

"I understand Granny and I'm sure Lena will too."

When Lena first left to D.C. Granny fell sick and she didn't want anyone to know.

To my knowledge, I'm the only one who knows about it.

One day, I came over to see how she was doing and the door was left open so I went in the house to see if everything was alright and Granny was laying down on the floor.

After that, I called 911 and I rode with them in the ambulance. We get to the hospital and they said something about chronic heart failure, before she went in for emergency surgery she put her finger over her lips, telling me to keep it to myself.

Ever since then, I'd come by to see if she was okay. I'd do little jobs around the house just so Granny didn't have to stress about it.

That's why she always wanted Lena to come back to New York because she was able to understand how precious time is.

She can travel but not by plane because the stent in her heart would pull.

I could've gone to Lena's graduation myself but I always feel obligated to take care of Granny when she's by herself.

Even when everyone went to Miami and me and Lena was beefing, I had my mom go by and check on her.

People don't understand, Granny took anyone in.

There was a time where she would have a house full of kids and we all respected her too.

When we had disagreements, she was the mediator. She fed us, clothed us with what she could and whooped us when we got out of line. That's why I am the way that I am.

The two days that Lena has been gone, I stayed here at the house with Granny because there were a few break ins, in the area.

Everyone on the block knows that breaking into her house is the dumbest thing that you could ever do. Her name holds more weight in the streets than a drug dealer's. But the patterns of these break ins have been new so I have a feeling that whoever is doing them is either not from here or dumb but I don't need no problems and they don't want none either.

"I'm about to make some sausage and grits do you want some?" She asked.

"Yes ma'am" I told her, "you need some help?"

"No you stay here and relax, I got it" Granny insisted.

She went in the kitchen, leaving me in the living room by myself.

It's 8:30 in the morning but for some reason it feels like it's earlier than that.

I've been up, waiting for Lena to get home since 5:30 this morning.

I got a chance to FaceTime her while she was getting ready for graduation and I even FaceTimed her after and she was still able to maintain that positive energy.
