Becoming A Pirate

Chapter 2

We are still in the middle of the ocean it was dark, and the only light we had was the on the ship. "Father we should make port it's dark." I said to father worryingly.

 "No, we can't just yet we need to go farther, we cannot stop now." Father seemed worried and he was never worried. I thought for sure something is wrong. 

I walked away from father and went into the captains chamber. I went into father's side of the chamber. There were books, maps and a letter. I picked up the letter and started to read it this letter was from admiral Williams. Good heavens, father what have you done.

The letter stated that father was to obtain the map from Captain Townsend and give it to admiral Williams. Captain Townsend! The Captain Townsend! What! Oh no I cannot believe this.

 Admiral Williams knew that a pirate had the map and ordered father to get the map for him. This is not good not only did father steal from a pirate captain he didn't give the map to admiral Williams. 

Oh no father what have you done that's why he wanted to leave quickly, that's why he doesn't want to make port anywhere he's on the run, and not only is Admiral Williams after him, but  a pirate captain is also after him. 

I ran out of the captains chamber and went to look for Philip he's the only one I can talk to and maybe he can help me figure this out. I ran around the ship and saw father was distracted talking to three other soldiers.

 I saw Philip on the other side and rushed over to him. "Come quickly, but quietly." I said to him looking serious. 

"Eliza what's wrong, what's going on." He asked me over and over again. "Shh just come with me."

 We then both went into the captains chamber. "Read this." I handed the letter to Philip. "What is this?" He asked me. "Just read it would you and then tell me what you think, quickly."

He then read the letter, gave it back to me and looked at me seriously. "Elizabeth, what is this letter." He looked worried I'd never seen such a scared expression on his face before. "You tell me what you think it is." I said in a serious tone.

"I think that you're father not only stole from a pirate, but also stole from an admiral." Precisely what I thought. "He's on the run isn't he?" I asked sounding worried I was worried something bad would happen to father.

 "It appears that way, yes." He replied. "No, father no why." I stated pacing around the room I couldn't wrap my head around why he would do such a thing.

 "Eliza, calm down and let's go." He grabbed my hand and we left the captains chamber. "Go talk to him, he's your father he'll listen to you." I'm sure he Philip was probably right, but I was afraid.

 "I can't every time I asked him questions he just pushes me away, and gets mad for me asking them." I don't want to upset father he's always done everything in my best interest.

"Eliza you're an nineteen now he'll have to tell you, it's not like your a kid anymore." Philip was right father can't keep me in the dark forever I'm no longer the child he still views me as.

 "Ok I'll go talk to him." I walk to the helm where my father was with three other soldiers. "Father, may I speak to you in private please." I asked polity.

 "You three may take your leave." Father said to the the three soldiers. They each saluted and left father and I alone. "What is it you want to discuss Elizabeth?" Father always called me Elizabeth no matter what. I had told him to call me Eliza, but he refuses he always says that he will call me by the name I was given.

 "Father do not lie to me, I know what's going on" I handed him the letter. "How could you keep this from me and lie to me."

 He looked at me with sorrow. "Why did you not do as you were told, why have you done this, you are a good man not a bad one right?" Father looked down and then looked up at me again.

 "Elizabeth I'm sorry I didn't tell I didn't want you to think I was a bad man that's why I didn't tell you." A part of me didn't want this to be true my father was a good man and a good father. 

"Why did you do this father? Answer my question please." My father looked at me in the eye and said "I did this to get a promotion, I wanted to prove myself, I know it's wrong, but I wanted to show the admiral that I am capable of a whole lot more than he thinks."

"I wanted to find the ring of immortality, and bring to him in hopes of getting a promotion." I couldn't believe what he was saying he did this for a promotion! Really! I was in complete shock.

 "I don't know who are, but you are not the father I know." I then turned around and started to walk not before I said "goodnight."

 I walked away from father and I felt like I didn't even know who my father was. "Eliza! Are you alright" Philip said in a worried tone. 

"Philip I'm exhausted I need to rest thank you for helping me you are the only person I can really trust." I started to walk to the captains chamber. Philip looked confused when I said that, but he also looked worried. 

"Eliza, wait!" Philip called out to me. I turned around and Philip hugged me. "I'll always be you're true friend" he said, I really needed to hear that at that moment. I knew that Philip was a true friend that I could trust. 

He then broke the hug and looked at me "thank you Philip" I looked at him and smiled, and continued walking to the the captains chamber.

It's been a long day for me I need to think about what had happened today. Some rest will do me good.

 I put on my night gown and looked at the sea. "How beautiful" I said to myself. One of my favourite parts about going on voyages with my father is looking at the sea.

 I had no idea what to do now or who I should believe. My trust for my father had been broken. I know he didn't mean for to cause trouble for I know deep down he is still a good man.

 I must not think of this anymore right now I need to hope that father will be ok. With that I put my head on my pillow and closed my eyes.

 It was time for my thoughts to go away, and for me to rest, and tomorrow is another day I hope things will be better tomorrow.
